Ahhh, I can contribute to this thread now. I taught myself how to cook (literally just watched YouTube videos and would try them or do my own interpretations) during the Pandemic and now it’s just a normal part of life. Some of my best successes include: Shepherd’s Pie, Meatloaf, Tuna Caserole, Fried Rice, Bread Pudding…
I also did Hello Freah for a while, which is a great way to try making dishes (kits include all the ingredients so you don’t need to do the shopping). I stopped as it’s kind of pricey for my style, but I’m still subscribed. I just skip most weeks so I rarely take any deliveries to get charged.

I recently realized how easy it is to make San Francisco style Garlic Noodles, so I’ve done that a few times.
Almost all of my self-taught dishes by YouTube have been based on videos by Chef John (Food Wishes). All his recipes come out great and the videos are pretty fun to watch because he has a hilarious way of talking and is really self-deprecating and makes fun of himself a lot.
New plan… we’re all going to Revco’s house for Thanksgiving!!

Life is strange when you don’t have a schedule to keep. I got up about 4:00am this morning for some reason or another. I’m one of those weird morning people. It’s not unusual for me to be up early. Not usually 4:00am early though.
Anyway… I decided to make some vegetable soup since I was up. It came out great with just the right amount of heat/spice. It will be even better tomorrow.
