I didn’t make it myself, but I went to a heavy metal burger joint yesterday and ate a DEE SNIDER burger. It had peanut butter and jelly on it along with bacon and Sriracha.
It was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
There’s a “death metal” themed pizza joint in Austin that I ate at once, I can’t remember the name. It was amusing.
Although pizza’s really more of a thrash metal food, when you think of it.
You know, I remember the magazine WIRE (which I no longer read after the pathetic character assassinations they attempted on friends of mine) used to have a feature in which they asked musicians these ‘death row’ sorts of questions: what’s the last record you want to hear before you die, and of course what’s the last meal you want to be served.
I’ve not been to Hoek’s DEATH METAL PIZZA, but really want to. I will gladly go to any heavy metal / rock and roll restaurant/ bar no matter how cheesey.
A few I’ve been to . . . .
Grill Em All - heavy metal burgers in LA
Cooperstown - Alice Cooper’s rock/sports bar in Phoenix
Aces and Ales - beer, food, and video poker, owned by Keri Kelly (Alice Cooper). Las Vegas.
Rock and Brews - KISS bar and restaurant owned by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. LA/ El Segundo (it’s pretty much crap).

Kuma’s Corner - heavy metal burgers in Chicago
I’ve been to
Kuma’s Too (their second and larger location from Gunnar’s original tiny location of Kuma’s Corner) Chicaco, IL.
GWARbar - Can you say BACON on everything?! Richmond, VA.
I am also supposed to set up dinner at Oblivion Tap Room in Orlando for a group of us also.
Tell me more about the GWAR BAR, Mooney! I know OF it, but no details.
It’s a small place with limited parking across from a park on the edge of a residential neighborhood in Richmond. There were people hanging out on the edge of the park waiting for open. The inside is pretty industrial and minimalist, with a concrete floor that looks like it has blood splatter on it in front of the bar under the bar stools and the bar itself and serving plates look like pieces of ice. There are not very many tables, and I sat at the bar.
I went for Sunday’s Brutal Brunch and had steak and eggs. It was pretty tasty too. I only wish I could have had the bloody mary garnished with bacon as they were quite popular with the customers, but I had to leave to drive to New York.
