Wax Trax! Records Retrospectacle: 33 1/3 Year Anniversary

Hey everyone, on the pc at the hotel for a minute, I have a printed setlist from 242 (one of…if not the best show of theirs ever) and will post it. along with HD video of 242 clips, RevCo’s BSQ intro, song, and right into Attack Ships, plus I’m filming Stainless, Something Wonderful, and Physical tonight, hell everything I missed. KMFDM classic was awesome, RevCo classic was amazing, and 242 was incredible, Paul is the nicest, coolest musician you’ll ever meet, just a fucking incredible week in Chicago, I’ll make all of this stuff available very soon, flying back to Phoenix tomorrow. Off to night 3, cheers all.

Oh, all the prongers rock, great people all around, time running out…cheers!

Jim

Perhaps the set list won’t be the same tonight…

Just got back to NY, but damn… what a weekend! So nice to meet everyone! It’s hard to describe the vibe of the weekend… “perfect” might be a good word to use?

Sunday = Richard 23 on No Devotion vocals!

It was great to meet and hang out with everyone. I’ll post pics, after I fly back home.

Gerda, I’m glad you liked the shirt!

Did anyone get pictures of the Fix marquee?
Paul’s BSQ guitar? Its gorgeous…

I am happy to forget Afra’s Richard 23 dance. (he’s probably still doing it, Eurotrash style)
I am not happy that i got no swag from the movie peeps. I will have to bust some kneecaps. Doug Freel is the director of FIX, and I know where he lives. (he is a friend…so wtf…)
I’m staring at the painting of Stiv Bators, which lives in my living room. My friend Marnie Warren grew up in Cleveland and is an awesome painter. We have a couple of her huge portraits, and a Rick Buscher self portrait he gave us when Paul and I got married. (HUGE AWWWWW moment)
Marnie was good buddies with Stiv. She also knew David Thomas from Pere Ubu. Only my favorite band on the planet. May be a Midwest thing, but I don’t think so.

I had goosebumps just by watching this clip.

AWESOME!!! [:)]

Are you the guy from New York that I found walking down the street after the show on Friday? Forgot your name. Enjoyed the chat and the Chicago history lesson.[/reply]

I think I know who you are talking about, but it wasn’t me! There was another fellow New Yorker who’s prongs handle I currently forget. He runs http://www.waxtrax-not-subpop.org/ though!

Here’s some TKK from saturday. Can’t tell if Jacky Blacque is with them. Kinda surprised Levi isn’t on bass but that chick looks hot.

did TKK use Justin Bennett* to play drums?

also, i caught a pic on the chicago sun site … looks like Chris got himself a handlebar 'stache for the show.

    • justin plays live with skinny puppy. dreads guy. played with tkk in the past.

edit: just looked at the vids above. it doesnt’ look like justin behind the kit.

If that is Justin on drums then he either has his hair tied back or he cut his dreads. Looks like he has a beanie on either way

She also knew David Thomas from Pere Ubu. Only my favorite band on the planet. May be a Midwest thing, but I don’t think so.

Theodora has a pic of the marquee and we were in front of Paul so she probable has one of his RevCo bass too.

Looked like he was playing a fender

Indeed he was.

We also ran into RW on his way outside to smoke a cigarette.
He looks much healthier now than in the past, and he is busy taking care of his children.

Wait, Raymond Watts or Rey Washam?

It was a pleasure to meet many of you and to put faces to usernames. I am glad we did all meet. Thank you to Tenohtwo for being the point of contact and also was great to meet bisquitodoom after years of direct online contact. Was great to see everyone. Thank you very much for coming out - the bands were very appreciative.

I want to create a page on the site for this weekend, with pictures exclusively from everyone who went and took some. You can email them to me (or where they are posted) at afra at prongs dot org . I’ll post when the page is complete.

In the meantime, here’s the setlist from last night’s show (04.17.11), from backstage:

Sunday night sound was MUCH BETTER imho. Richard 23 on No Devotion vox was glorious. 242 played U-Men and Operating tracks which are my fav two songs, so that was great. I am terrible at reviews so i’ll just leave it to the pros.

Side note: Gerda, it was very nice to meet you and the wife and I would like to thank you for cutting out a wee bit of time for us to chat briefly.

Also thanks to Afra for being the man, Dastardly Deeds and 1002 for being the only 2 other prongers i caught up with. Well played.
