I was happy to meet filth pig and the rest of the prongs crew last night.thank you again for the “cocksucker” shirt (filthpig). I have not seen en esch in a very long time, and I reminded him that the last time I saw him he was in the kitchen of our house in Austin, pouring coffee, smoking and wearing his girlfriend’s skirt.
I won’t talk about show highlights, primarily because I was too busy fielding the same 10 questions from an assortment of people. But anyway, Paul arranged for the cowboy hats which got tossed into the audience. JULIA NASH THOUGHT THAT WAS A STROKE OF GENIUS. Carmangary managed to snag one.
Happiest moment: Standing outside Metro yesterday, and feeling something in my back, poking me. Turned around, and their was Marston, and I turned back and their was Frankie Nardiello giving me the full on bitch treatment. Oh, and also seeing all of my “bandmates”, especially Ruth Pellicore Mainey, Sean Joyce and Larry Crandus.
Chris stinkin’ Connelly’s wife was filming throughout, and when I went to Metro to pick up our block of tickets, she came over and asked if I’d do an interview for her documentary of the weekend. I would be the first. So there I was, holding like seventy configurations of tickets and passes, and being asked about Jim and Dannie. At one point, I did get a little teary eyed. But the interview (I hope) was funny.
Thanks for the info gerda.
Ok, I’ll be the spaz of the group… Fill us in guys. Come on! Lol.
btw, i met catgoat and his angie. super nice. ( how many times can I be asked if PB AND i are moving back to CHICAGO.) i kept up the conversation, because I just don’t know.
btw, I did not have any Richard 23 encounters, altho Afra does a great impersonation. (drive me nuts with the Eurotrash angle.Afra. Love him.

Fuuuh yoo! so that means that might be a 50/50 chance, there might be a DVD version of this event (complete with extras & whatnots).
Thanx for the tid bit of info Gerda. [cool]
I did read the KMFDM lineup when this thing first got announced. I think his name is Paul Wood. I do know that he’s in Slick Idiot with Esch and Schulz.
Thanks for the KMFDM info Eureka bro, btw I hope all is well with you man.
always willing to accomodate. in this business you learn, early on, to be nice to support staff. and i made a point of acknowledging every single person who got me through the doors last night… that’s what you do.you don’t shit on people.
Last night was Something Wonderful.
I’ll report back when I’m sober and not having to get my shit together and get to the airport.
Nugget of info #1: Pailhead, acapella
Nugget of info #1: Pailhead, acapella
wow.
We were standing in front of Paul.
Mysfyt, martyr$exxx, and Theodora also have hats.
I met: dastardly_deeds, filthpig, Mick, and carmangary on this trip. (I think carmangary was expecting a 500lb chick because he asked me who I was after he had already met filthpig. Ha!)
I had met catgoat, mysfyt, martyr$exxx, theodora, blakenstein, and Afra in 2006 in Chicago.

When I arrived the a Capella chicks were singing Dead Kennedy’s "California Uber Alles’, then “I will Refuse” followed by "Everyday is Halloween. It was a little too glee-esque for Wempathy, but I thought it was entertaining.
Revolting Cocks were amazing… glad I got to see the “real” Cocks, not that cover band that Al was using to whore out the name a few years back. Even Thrill Kill was surprisingly decent, having that live drummer makes a world full of difference for that act…
Ughh… kinda tired and partied out to go into much more detail. IMO Rights of the Accused and Revolting Cocks were the highlights of the event, but it was all a lot of fun. Glad to meet everyone, hope you all had a great time!
Thanks for the KMFDM info Eureka bro, btw I hope all is well with you man.
Thanx. I hope you and the rest had a huge shot for me.
BTW where’s the fuckin set lists?
Nobody on here’s talking but I do know they also played Something Wonderful and BS&Q. I would’ve posted those clips on here but they weren’t complete. So far that’s all I know. Perhaps CC and Gerda made everyone swear to secrecy about the set list
Yeah, same here. Way tired, but here’s the basic rundown:
Friday:
Rights Of The Accused: Never heard these guys before, but they were pretty entertaining. Nice punk music with some very tongue-in-cheek humor. The singer wore a disco ball codpiece and changed hat/jacket several times throughout the set. They had a couple guys dressed a roman gladiators who sang backup and held up posterboard flashcards for the audience to yell along with. The highlightof the set was the singer’s story about Jim and Danny finding some polaroids in the back alley of a guy wearing green jeans and exposing himself. They figured “what the hell” and decided to hang them up at the register and lo and behold, one day the guy comes in shopping for records.
KMFDM was next. Started off with En Esch, Mona Mur, Gunter and Paul Wood (from Slick Idiot) on drums. Asthey went through the set, they were joined by Watts and Mark Durante for the songs they played. Pretty good set overall. They stuck mostlyto the songs I expected - written by Esch/Schultz and Watts. The setlist was happily Naive-heavy, though I was expecting more Nihil. Raymond seemed a little out of practice and had his lyrics taped to the floor. I was hoping to finally hear Brute live, and was pleased to have it as the encore, though they started playing too early for the recorded samples and had to start over after they were halfway through. Still a killer set and much better than any of the post-Esch/Schultz KMFDM shows I’ve caught. Someone already posted the full setlist earlier in the thread.
Front 242 played last and had a really long set. Rather than stick to the old Wax Trax stuff, they played a pretty varied selection from their catalog. Pretty much the same 242 m.o. as ever - Codenys on keyboards, R23 and JL DeMeyer on vocals with a live drummer. Really well-done backing video and lighting. Of the night, this set seemed the most professional. This is what I’d expect to see if I saw them headlining a show on a tour. Was a little weird to see the band dancing around, but if you’re into 242, it was a great set. I posted an incomplete setlist above, but I really don’t know most of the newer stuff well enough for song names.
Some folks headed on to Neo to catch R23 and Luc Van Acker dj. I was pretty beat, so hid the bed.
Saturday, we were informed that there would be a surprise opener, but no one seemed to know what the surprise was, so we made sure to hit the show in time.
The opener was the BRGC, a glee club that does acapella versions of punk songs. They did a Buzzcocks song, California Uber Alles and maybe one more and then brought out Paul Barker on bass and Eric Spicer from Naked Raygun on drums for versions of I Will Refuse and Every Day Is Halloween. May have been a bit too much Glee, but I still thought it was pretty cool.
Revco was next. Connelly and Luc on vocals, Paul on bass, Duane Buford on keys, Jamie Duffy on guitar and someone else on drums. I didn’t catch the name, but it could have been Eric Spicer. Mark Durante joined the band for a couple songs as well. They came on with a burst of energy and threw a lot of cowboy hats into the audience throughout the first song. The band was very tight and very full of energy. Easily my favorite of the show. Sadly only 7 songs, but a terrific performance. Maybe this’ll ge some of these guys working together again on something.
Setlist:
Beer Steers And Queers
Attack Ships On Fire
Stainless Steel Providers
Physical
Something Wonderful
No Devotion
Do Ya Think I’m Sexy
Last up for the evening was Thrill Kill Kult. I’d seen them before in 2004 opening for Ministry. That was a 3 out of 10. This time I’d say more like a 7 or 8. They had Groovy on vocals, Buzz on keyboard, a drummer, guyitarist, bassist and the Bomb Gang Girlz. I’m a big fan of everything before Sexplosion and they kept the setlist entirely to those albums.
Setlist:
Shock Of Point 6
X-Communication
Do You Fear For Your Child
Nervous Xians
Rivers Of Blood, Years Of Darkness
Burning Dirt
Days Of Swine And Roses
And This Is What The Devil Does
A Daisy Chain 4 Satan
Kooler Than Jesus
Cuz It’s Hot
There were also quite a few folks who came up inbetween bands to thank everyone and share some rememberances of Jim and Danny. I remember Julia Nash, her brother and family, Jim’s wife, Danny’s brother and Joe Shanahan (Metro’s owner). I don’t think I’m leaving anyone out, but please correct me if I am. These were some of the best moments, and it really made you think about how many people these two guys touched and how sad it is that they’re both gone.
After the show ended, we headed upstairs for the meet and greet (thanks Gerda!!) and hung out for a while then headed over to Neo for some drinks/dancing.
It was a great weekend and it was nice to finally meet some of the people on this board. Everyone was very cool to hang with, so thanks to all of you for a great time.
I ended up with 3 hours sleep last night, so maybe more when I wake up.
Jim’s granddaughter was out on stage at the beginning.
This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of Raymond reading his lyrics from a sheet. He’s one of my all time faves but at the same time that’s kind of sad.
I’d be content with that RevCo set but I would’ve loved to hear Cattle Grind(along with You Goddamn Son Of A Bitch as the intro), In The Neck, At The Top, and motherfuckin YOU OFTEN FORGET. I’m sure if they were headlining they would’ve thrown in more. Maybe TV Mind too. Fuck how I’d love to have another cowboy hat. Were they all pink?
Idk every song on that TKK set. They’ve only become a recent interest over the past month but I know most of it and am now stoked to catch them when they come out here next since they’re still supposed to be touring for that Sinister Whispers comp they put out last year. WaxTrax era TKK is mostly what I’ve been listening to so I’m hoping they keep the set this way. And when you say the Bomb Gang Girlz do you mean Jacky Blacque and all the rest of the older ones? Fuck I’d almost kill to see Jacky on stage!
I’m starting to let it go that I’ve missed all this. Not so much pissy that I missed friday but last night sounded killer. Are most of you going tonight?
EDIT: Btw who the fuck is Jamie Duffy?
[/reply]
Godlike was played very different than the version I know. Barely recognized it.
Perhaps it was heavy like the Chicago Trax version?
sounds like a blast! lol @ raymond reading from a sheet. seems like something he’d do. i’m surprised he’s even there! did anyone talk to him?
as if revolting cocks didn’t play YOU OFTEN FORGET, 38 and WE SHALL CLEANSE THE WORLD! now i’m not as upset for missing it :P.
Look up the Chicago Trax version. It’s way heavier. Not to mention Barker and Rieflin played on it.
