I may have to pick this up just for Vargnatt and the Nattens Madrigal rehearsal alone! Krystoffer Rygg overseeing the remastering process also makes it a must have, despite his distaste for Kveldssanger. I’m also curious to see what that buffoon Michael Moynihan has to say in the liner notes. Maybe this box set will influence the band to finish up that Nattens Madrigal re-recording that got scrapped.

Moynihan is clearly not on the ‘same page’ with most people agenda-wise. One item that sticks out for me is his admiration of Finnish eco-fascist Pentti Linkola, who basically supports the intentional targeting of women and children in armed conflicts.

On the other hand I wouldn’t classify him as a buffoon. He’s more industrious than most people I come across, and certainly had enough brains to place in [url http://www.bbns.org]this very posh school in Cambridge Mass.

Actually 15-year old Michael Moynihan is probably the most interesting period of his career for me. I can’t even name any other people of that age who had their own ‘power electronics’ group and their own industrial culture 'zine…apparently these activities were considered so aberrant in the affluent circles that his family belonged to, that a private investigator was hired to make sure he wasn’t planning some sort of terrorist activity.

I don’t give a shit about his “politics” or his apparent faux-shock social stances that have hordes of Burzum-lite retards the world over jumping up and down with glee in their parents basements.

In regards to his musical adventures, this is well worth checking out:

And of course, Lords Of Chaos is essential reading. Anyone on this forum who hasn’t yet presented themselves with the opportunity of perusing its pages, is well advised to do so asap.

But I don’t really know enough about him to form an opinion yet.

LORDS OF CHAOS is awesome!

I’m pretty sure we discussed this on another thread some months ago, but the hell with it…I never get tired of reiterating my love for that book’s total “quote-a-bility.”

I STILL find myself greeting both ‘metal’ and ‘non-metal’ friends by saying “we are but slaves of the one with horns,” or claiming that some mundane object like a bottle of ketchup at a diner “stands beyond any criticism” (as ‘Fenriz’ once claimed of ‘Transilvanian Hunger.’)

Just grabbed the book off my shelf again looking for another quote and, deja vu, opened up to this laugh riot from Ulver on p. 199:

“Just look at our audience: the average Black Metal record buyer is a stereotypical loser, a good-for-nothing who was teased as a child, got bad grades at school, lives on social welfare and seeks compensation for his inferiority complexes and lack of identity by feeling part of an exclusive gang of outcasts uniting against a society which has turned them down. And with Heavy Metal as a cultural and intellectual foundation, these dependents on social altruism proclaim themselves an ‘elite’! HAH! Could it be more pathetic?”

Daaaaaaamn…cold…

They clearly all need to be on the same concert bill for one evening.

With an all-star encore of Blowfly’s “Too Fat to Fuck” with Rob Halford and King Buzzo also taking vocal turns.

That moment when you walk into a record store and you see sections for Revolting Cocks and Revco…

I don’t drink for nearly two years and I hit the piss and vomit out of my arse for nearly two days. Fucking someone kill me.

Had to put my dog down today. Not sure why I am telling you all this other than the fact that I an utterly heartbroken.

I get to go home and tell my son, who is 10 about it. The dog was 11 so he’s never known our house without the dog.

Should be fun.

Sorry,em…I know that pain well of losing an animal…hang in there, bud…

Yeah, that sucks, Em!
Losing your beloved dog is bad enough (and what a cute little fella!). But having to present that to the kids . . . I don’t wish that on anyone. All the best, Dude.

My sincere condolences to you. Had to put down a dog of my own years ago, and I still miss the ol’ buzzard. You’re not alone and certainly not being “too emotional” if you feel deeply affected by his loss.

I’m often told that dogs are affectionate and loyal because they know their owners are a steady source of food, but - whatever. Providing food regularly is a very fair tradeoff for a decade of making me laugh every day, making me discover new things about myself, encouraging me to exercise, and protecting me with jaws that can cut easily through bone and steel. You could certainly pick worse friends than that.

I know that feel.

I know, right?

“Hey, Dog, will you be my friend and stick with me and be by my side and comfort me when I’m sad and entertain me and protect me at all costs, even to your own death?”

“Ummm, yeah, of course. Can I get some food perhaps?”

“Fuck you, Dog.”

I took him to the vet on the weekend cause something was wrong. She stabilized him and told me if anything happens to bring him back ASAP.

So this morning around 3 AM, he woke me up and I noticed he was having trouble breathing, and his heart was going really fast. So I knew I’d have to put him down today. (But the vet opens at 7 so I had 4 hours to wait with him).

I had him on my chest, tears coming down, trying to calm him…

He’s laying there (basically dying on my chest), and what does he do? Starts licking my tears cause he knows I’m upset.

That’s a friend.
