FINAL VERDICT AND STATEMENT FROM JUDGE GUNNAR
Ladies and gentlemen of the court, let me thank you for both your participation and your patience in seeing this case through to its final conclusion. In many ways, a search for justice is a search for truth and we find ourselves asking “what is truth” during the events of a judicial hearing. Well, let me address that for a moment. To say someone is guilty of something, is not a statement of fact, necessarily, but a statement of “proof”.
There have been times that people may be “proved” in a court of law to be murderers or rapists, or even Australians, only to find out later, through new evidence, that the findings were wrong or inaccurate. But the possibility of an error does not mean that we stop our search for the truth and our quest for justice.
Last week a man was tried on charges of being another man who would possibly be the man pretending to be that man. In laymen’s terms . . . fraudulent identity. The man we know as Peligro (and has since changed his name) was charged with carrying two identities on the board. His accused alter ego was identified as the man we all know as “Olsen”.
After review of all available testimony and evidence, it is the court’s findings that Peligro is guilty of being Olsen and vice versa. Furthermore, they are both, insomuch as the court finds, guilty of being Australian, even though that is not technically a crime or part of the initial charges.
While the accuser and prosecutor of the case, Grmpysmrf, submitted exhaustive piles of documentation and circumstantial evidence and testimony linking the two, the defendant and any witnesses on said defendant’s behalf failed to submit any compelling evidence of the contrary. In fact, while the co-defendant Olsen mysteriously vanished and refused to make an appearance in court despite promising earlier that he would be around “for 100 pages”.
More compelling and perhaps the main decider of this case, though, was that the defendant, shortly after the commencement of the trial, changed his plea to guilty and confessed to the accused crime of fraudulent identity and counterfeit character representation. This coincided with the defendant’s action of changing his name.
So without further adieu, I must say that the official findings of the court are that PELIGRO IS GUILTY OF BEING OLSEN.
As for sentencing, the court was going to officially demand that the guilty change his name from Peligro to Scaramouche. Since the guilty individual has already done that, I will declare the trial done and ask that we pray for God’s mercy for this board.
