Can’t remember where I read this, but he apparently disparaged his contribution to the series as being a “homework assignment”.
I asked Buzzo the Joe Preston question in person when I met him many years ago. He told me Joe was kicked out for being lazy, stoned and argumentative.
I know they are disliked (hated even) here by many, but the Lateralus design more or less owns…

I just chose ‘legendary’ as an arbitrary positive adjective…I haven’t really thought about how to quantify the awesomeness or rank it.
Maybe we just need a simple numerical scoring system…as in something gets so many Bushmills’ bottles out of a possible 10, or so many Paul Barker glasses frames out of 10, etc…
I like the Ænima cover better than lateralus. That moving eye is sweet.

I love this one. It’s so repulsive.
I made a silk-screen of it when I was in an after school ROP class and made some shirts (lost long ago) and also screened it onto the back of my jacket.

Not so much a “legendary” album cover, but this album quickly attained legendary status among my friends and I in college.
I came down during one of my friends radio spots and was just searching through all the junk at the studio and found it. It is from the horny, hairy, drugged out 70’s.
It features these cheesey Broadway style showtunes for stage, but . . . . wow. With tracks such as “Come In My Mouth”, it’s just something that has to be heard to be believed. It was an actual live stage production, too. I can’t even imagine the horror of witnessing that spectacle.
