I clicked on the the link yesterday, and put my headphones on…but forgot that I had Body Count playing on my computer at the time. I had two songs going at once and I thought it was awesome that he was sampling Body Count.
Having Al whine about being so sensitive… and hearing…
“Trying to ban the AK, I got 10 of em stashed with a case of hand grenades”
I’m surprised the album isn’t better distributed in Canada for something on a “major label” (for the metal scene). I went to get it at HMV today and they didn’t have it at any location. I’ll check a few more independent stores tomorrow.

I was going to go pick it up yesterday at my local indie store, and they told me not to bother – Record Store Day means a lot of releases are being lost in the shuffle, especially if they’re not specifically RSD material. I downloaded it, I’m enjoying it, I’ll pick it up next week. Best track? “Unlistenable.”
I like that it’s actually a real jewel case and not some shitty digipak. But what’s with Al’s trashing of nickelback? I mean I got the the throw away insult in the invisible video but now he’s singing about them? He seems about 15 years too late since they are no longer mentioned by anyone anywhere at anytime… seems like he’s just advertising for them.

Al was told that Nickleback was what all the kids were listening today . . . by the lead singer of Coal Chamber.
You should hear the B-side if that single, by the way. It’s called, “Fuck U, U Poser Bcuz U Totally Listen 2 Jonas Brothers N Backstreet Boys 4 Realz!!!”
I hear he also has an alternate vocal take with a scathing diatribe against New Kids on the Block, very edgy stuff that proves that Al got his finger on the pulse of youth culture! As topical even as “Git Up, Git Out ‘n’ Vote”
Would you say it is as topical as having a nobody remiXXX an album 8 years later featuring songs protesting a President who no longer is even in office?
I like it. It’s straight up bananas and all over the place.
The retarded lyrics and goofiness make me feel like he WANTED this to be a LARD record but Jello’s limited investment just squirted out one track and they just said “screw it” and banged out the rest of the album anyway.
Whatever the story of it, I’m pleased. It’s different enough that I’m satisfied.
I’m quite surprised and the level of guitar playing Al is throwing down on this, though. Certainly a higher and more technical caliber than I would have expected. Anyone who knows me knows that this is NOT something I would say flippantly, but it almost seems like he’s trying to honor Mikey with some of those licks.
Anyway, is it groundbreaking or the best album ever? Of course not. But I think it’s a good departure and I HOPE a harbinger of Al at least trying to break out of the boring ass mold he’s cast himself in for the last 10 years.
It was pretty much written and halfway there, Jello came to hang out for a weekend, liked one song and did the vocals. Then he didn’t do any more, so Al just went ‘fuck it’ and chugged on with the rest of the record.
It’s not bad, it’s not great. I found it pretty schizophrenic and unlistenable at times, definitely not something I can handle first thing in the morning and that says a lot.
