Seen any good movies lately?

Yeah, I’ve not seen Squid Game, but from the bits of description and discussion I picked up and the themes of the powerless/poor being exploited by the powerful/wealthy, it definitely had vibes of movies/stories like “Running Man”, “Surviving The Game”, “The Purge”, and “8mm”.

When I saw that part of “Squid Game” is a version of “Red Light / Green Light” and that all the overlords/gamemasters are unseen faceless monsters, it made me remember this short film that I came across a few years back. It’s from a series (I’ve not seen the whole anthology, but the ones I watched were really good) called “ABC’s Of Death” and they do a very short story for each letter of the alphabet. This is for T.

Dude,Surviving the Game and 8mm are both severely underrated films!!

I always liked The Running Man movie(directed by Starsky)…even in all it’s cheesy, goofball glory…it’s a blast and Richard Dawson was perfect casting for his role…

I watched it last week…cheesy good.

“Here’s Sub-zero. Now just plain zero!”

The Running Man is cheesy fun. Also neat as it has Mick Fleetwood and Dweezil Zappa in its cast.

I was under the impression that The Running Man was inmates not specifically the poor.

I kinda see 8mm as a Documentary of sorts…
I’ve never seen Running Man. I was young when it came out, and my parents wouldn’t let me watch it, and now that I’m old enough, I just have no desire.
I will stand by Richard Dawson though. That guy is top shelf in everything I’ve seen him in, especially family feud! That guy ran a mobile kissing booth! savage!

Goddamn that was a fucked up video.

HAHAHA!!!
My wife and I shout “Running Man” lines at each other all the time for no good reason. Our favorites are “What a hot head!” and what is quite possibly the stupidest and most amazing line ever . . . . “Hey, Christmas Tree!!!”

The movie was about inmates, but all the “contestants” in the book were poor people.

That shit he did on Family Feud wouldn’t stand a fucking change in today’s climate…

I think my favorite one liner of Arnie’s is probably in Commando after the wife throws a cake at him and he says “you should not drink and bake”…

Mine is from “The Sixth Day” - when he has killed the evil guy’s clone, then kills the evil guy himself and he lands on top of his clone - “WHEN I TOLD YOU TO GO FUCK YOURSELF I DID NOT MEAN FOR YOU TO TAKE IT LITERALLY.” Poetry!

My favorite Arnold quote is either “Bennett! Let off some steam!” (Commando) or “It’s cotton. It breathes!” (Twins). Close second is “Cohagen, don’t be a fool! Give those people aiiiihhr!” (Total Recall).

Just watched the new Dune So, no I haven’t seen any good movies lately.
That movie was a stinker. boring as shit. As far as story movement goes, I’ve seen snails move faster. As I heard somewhere else the palm trees get more back story than the characters. Just a shit boring ass movie.

I loved it. Thought it was a masterpiece.

Maybe we watched 2 different movies. At the very least, I was expecting an action movie, but what i saw was a beautiful cinematography (seriously if you freeze framed any scene you could easily print it out throw a frame around it and hang it on your wall) movie that had no substance in story. At best i would rate it a mash up between tremors and every water shortage movie I’ve ever seen…
What did you see that i missed?

I’m gonna watch it over the weekend…sure made a shit ton at the box office…

Well, I’ll give it that It’s beautiful to look at, and probably looked even more tremendous in the theater, but as a story it just fizzled for me.
If Jenny Mccarthy were a movie she would be this Dune… Beautiful to look at but no substance.
