Seen any good movies lately?

Well, I don’t know how it was possible, but I had never seen “They Live”, but I now I did and it’s fucking awesome!

They Live should be required viewing as should about 85 percent of John Carpenter’s films…he is one of the best…They Live is a killer film and is as prescient as ever…

Oh my god! I got that on bluray! that movie is so fucking good!!! I first saw it years and years ago and loved the premise immediately. So good! and even as dated as it is, it still holds up extremely well.
I like when he’s in the liquor store calling out all the aliens.
"You’re disgusting, your hideous, You’re ok (to the human), but you’re nasty! and the Alien talking into the wristwatch “We got one that can see us!”
Damn I’m watching that again tonight now!!

I love John Carpenter and “They Live” is definitely a classic.
Also has possibly the best fight scene of all time as Roddy Piper struggles endlessly to get Keith David to put on the glasses.

Well, maybe my face was framed laughs but guess what?

  1. Come And See (1985)
  2. Days Of Heaven (1978)
  3. Equus (1977)

Gena Rowlands

South Park recreated that fight scene for scene in an episode called “Cripple Fight”…it last an entire 5 min haha

Hola, hola, cripple!!

:astonished:

I think, Buddo, you miss what I seem to believe is a real point. I give it 4 sticks.

Watched Dune again, as first time I only had the dvd playing in the background while I cleaned the man cave.

Nop, I have to be in agreement. Dune was pretty to look at but a chore to sit through. In the end, I just didn’t care. Gorgeous shot of sand dunes and eerie space vehicles but little else. I thought the casting was misplaced too.

And where was the Spice Guild Navigator?

It was a visually stunning movie with serious flaws. One of those flaws, to me, was the lack of a true villain. We see Baron Harkonnen and his son, the Beast Rabban, but they don’t really do anything menacing except mutter and curse. The biggest bad guy in the movie is a series of huge explosions.

The Spice Guild Navigator was briefly seen (I think) when the Bene Gesserit spacecraft lands and is greeted by Oscar Isaac. There were a bunch of weirdos on the ramp leading to the ship (I think Daft Punk was there). Some of them were humanoids in spacesuits filled with red gas. I think those were what was supposed to pass as the Navigators in this movie.

Nightmare Alley, Cinematography was cool, but the storyline and acting was eh

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre re-boot…it is not a good film at all but I was entertained by it…it’s really a super unsubtle mess of a film with plot holes galore and real stupid characters…but it is gory and brutal as fuck and has some brisk pacing and a quick running time…it’s also shot really well…if you go in with low expectations,as I did being a huge fan of the original (and the biting satire of the bizarre part 2) you might have some fun…turn your brain off and just watch some mayhem…

Saving Private Ryan (4K)
War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise) (4K)
LOST…TV series

Are you talking the reboot from 2001 or the current reboot? (I think I heard they were rebooting it currently)
I really liked the one from 2001 that I thought that was great but the second one from that time period was horrible.

The 2022 one they just released on Netflix on Fri night…

You must be referring to the 2003 version with Jessica Biel?

Yeah she was ok but the guy that played kemper and the nerdy kid and lee ermey were great. Great suspense

The 2003 version has some high points and low points…but it is def one of the best of the post Part 2 output…having R Lee Ermey is always a stroke of genius…I could watch that guy read the phone book…I probably need to re-watch it as at the time I watched with some disdain just because of my love of the original which is one of my favorite films of all time…

Texas chainsaw 3D was a steaming pile of shit and all the others after part 2 range from campy stupid fun to downright dismal and embarrassing…

The new one doesnt even try to be anything except 75 min of eradicating woke hipsters who have come to a town to gentrify it…it’s about as subtle as a brick through your window with a turd strapped to it but it’s such stupid gory fun…as long as you don’t go in expecting fucking Ingmar Bergman or some shit you might have fun with it even though it’s dumber that a box of rocks…

I’d never seen “Mississippi Burning” before and bought the DVD a couple weeks ago. Pretty intense and really good. Gene Hackman is such a badass!
