Is Army of the Dead worth a shit?
AOTD…It was okay…a tiny twist with zombies but other than that…just another zombie movie…
What is this? Reboot? Documentary?
I LOVE the old Dolemite and Rudy Ray Moore movies, but hadn’t heard of this.
It’s about the making of the Dolemite films. Eddie Murphy is Rudy Ray Moore and it is, no joke, his best film since the '80s.
Yeah it was a fun and lively film…great cast and it moves at a nice clip…recommended for sure…
Awesome! Thanks for the heads up!
OK so this is a short and not exactly a movie. My very favorite 3 Stooges episode by far…

And now you can watch it on demand. This is way better than COVID BS.
Just watched “New Rose Hotel” because it was listed as #1 on a list of Cyberpunk movies on a website I visited because I’ve been vibing cyberpunk lately… Holy shit that has got to be one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Asia Argento’s nips are the only redeeming qualities of this film. There is NO cyberpunk elements, It’s all set in a hotel, It’s mostly Defoe and Argento’s “romance” that is highlighted even though it’s supposed to be about the seduction and defection of some superlative scientist. and the last 20 minutes of the movie is one of the characters remembering dialogue and scenes previously had in the movie… I was expecting a big reveal but no, that was it complete and utter waste of time… gotta put on hardware again to get my cyberpunk fix
I was fishing around YT movies last night and found this gem from 1972 - The Mechanic - https://youtu.be/M91qbp_SNvI

Yeah grmps, New Rose Hotel is not one of Abel Ferrara’s better offerings…the man has done some very good films though and has made at least 2 gritty, grimy masterpieces, imo( Bad Lieutenant and King of New York)…I can usually appreciate almost anything if Willem DaFoe is in it( not to mention Asia Argento’s nips) but this film is a slog…I remember having high hopes for it at the time…def not one of his best…and btw, Hardware rules…cracks me up every time when GWAR is on the tv but Ministry’s music is playing…so much greatness in that flick…
I’m not too familiar with Defoe’s work, but the 3-4 movies I’ve seen him in have been good.
Walken and Defoe’s character’s were likable, they just didn’t do anything and there certainly was no Cyberpunk involved in that movie ANYWHERE. The plot line was horrible. It was a romance movie for christ’s sake. I thought it was going to be some twist where Walken and Argento set up Defoe and left him holding the bag for something or Walken wanted him out, but no, just Defoe remembering the events which lead to him being alone. pitiful.
Yeah, I bought that Hardware movie for the cyberpunk element of it but the best part of the movie is the bonus I stumbled on with the mash up of Stigmata and GWAR.
I just looked these up. they look pretty interesting. Maybe I can find em streaming somewhere.
Yeah I would suggest starting with King Of NY and if you dig that move on to Bad Lt…both are gritty as hell…his films certainly aren’t for everyone…I think he has made several other films I would rank very high(Ms. 45 , The Funeral, China Girl and his remake of Body Snatchers)…then after that there are many films that are mixed bags…can’t really go wrong with the ones mentioned unless of course his style of film making just isn’t for you…but if you feel inclined I would certainly say to go with King of NY next…its just a grimy neo-noir classic with bravura masterclasses in acting by the entire cast( especially Walken and Larry Fishburne)…I’ve watched it more times than I can count…
Not a film but I’m watching this series on the HLN channel called Very Scary People…anyone else seen this? The series is on its 3rd season. And it focuses on famous serial killers, cult leaders, various psychopaths etc…they are very well done,in depth and some of them just chill you to the bone…the 2 most recent ones filled me with various feelings of fascination and dread…
.One was about Richard Kuklinski the Iceman…the infamous mob hit man who was just a straight up killing machine…the guy was fucking terrifying…he was such a ,depraved son of a bitch who used all sorts of devious tactics to silence his marks…the shit he did with cyanide just makes my heart race with anxiety…putting it in people’s food or casually blowing it on people as he walked by while pretending it was a sneeze…so fucked up…just looking at that guy fills me with feelings of complete horror…good riddance
And also recently watched the one about John Orr…the fire captain who was considered the number 1 arson investigator in Souther California and one of the most respected in the country in the 80s and early 90s…meanwhile this prick was a pyromaniac committing all kinds of arson(one case at a hardware store where 4 people were killed including a 2 year old kid)…he even wrote a book about his crimesnot unlike what O.J. Simpson would later do with his utterly tasteless If I Did It book years later…I was riveted by this story…I knew a bit about it but this doc really gave me a new more complex rendering of it… They say this fuck head was responsible for like up to 2,000 fires!!!..they finally caught his ass(and it is amazing how they did)…he is doing life and still maintains his innocence despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary…
It is a really well done series…
I have a couple on the dvr cause i saw the title if some dr serial killer id never heard of but i haven’t watched it yet
Yeah that’s the Dr Death episode from last season about physician Michael Swango who poisoned like 60 patients and colleagues…
wow! 60 poisoned people… Yeah I recorded it because I was wondering if he was killing them through the course of his job or hunting at night… I knew I would fall asleep on it so I recorded it but I haven’t gotten back to it yet…
Yeah he did it at his job…right under people’s noses…diabolical bastard…
I tried to watch the STIV BATORS documentary “STIV: No Compromise, No Regrets”. Fucking tedious. I don’t think I even got 30 minutes in. I love STIV and was hoping for something fun and insightful. It was poorly edited and a total snoozer.
Bummer dude…that one was in my queue…
Maybe it gets better, but I tried starting it today (it’s free on Amazon Prime if you have the service) and it just couldn’t hold my attention. And, yeah, I was really excited for this one back when it came out. The poster for it is still rad regardless, haha.
