Holy fuck!!! That good?..high praise…gonna put it in the queue now…
None will ever top First Blood though…I re-watched that recently after Brian Dennehy died…solid flick…time to watch Cobra again soon too…I love that exploitative piece of crap!!!
Fun fact: the director of Rambo 2 also did Cobra…George Cosmatos…did some other cool cult flicks also…even his son Panos has made 2 really fucked up trippy films(Beyond the Black Rainbow and Mandy- both of which I love)…
That is The Outsider that Rogan was talking about…Bateman produced it and directed a few episodes and stars in a some episodes…it is very much worth watching…
I remember Rogan, ranting and raving about how good it was. I guess it’s about kid murders, while not my favorite topic, does seem interesting based on the series of events that happen during and after. I’ll definitely post my thoughts once I start.
I’d like to hear what you think. n.b. – Don’t read the Stephen King book. I’m a HUGE Stephen King fan, and even I thought it was garbage. Somehow the adaptation outdid the book, one of the few instances of that happening (LOTR is another)…
Just saw “Get Out.” Decent enough flick Heard great things about it. Seemed like a retooling of “The Skeleton Key,” though.
Btw
Finished True detective. It was really good. I kinda found myself identifying with McConaughey’s character more than Harrelson’s character though. Well at least as cops, Not necessarily as a drunkard. Pretty sad that it went all the way up to the state leader.
So, does Season 2 and 3 continue the story or are they new crimes?
I watched this one about a month ago, but have been thinking about it quite a bit lately. It’s really a cool film. It’s so cool that it was done as a TV MOVIE in 1982 in the UK. It could never have been shown in the US. I’m sure everyone gets a different impression and message from it, but ultimately, this rotten fucker (played brilliantly by Tim Roth) turns out to just be completely irredeemable. He’s given every chance in the world by forgiving and patient people who see the potential in him . . . and they are all let down, haha. On a more superficial level, it’s a movie about an angry skinhead who fucks up a lot of shit . . . so it was bound to be a fun ride regardless of how effective it was on raising deeper social dialogue. If you love movies like “Romper Stomper”, “American History X”, and “This is England”, it’s a must see.
HAHAHAHA!!! I didn’t look closely at the picture I’d posted, but yes, in the movie it’s a stick and poke Swastika on his forehead. Whoever put the DVD cover together or possibly whoever posted the online ad I jacked the pic from apparently felt it too edgy . . . and instead of just smudging it out to erase it, made it a big dot. Not awkward at all, haha.
Watching this latest HBO mini series called Perry Mason…really good depression era noir crime drama…intriguing premise about a hard-hearted private investigator who is hired to find the person who kidnapped, murdered a 1 year old child…typically good HBO production values and good acting…dig it so far…
I had seen a press release for that, seemed like it was going to be pretty good. If It hit’s HBO Max I’ll probably check it out. I gotta que up outsider, still though. Been too consumed with the guitar lately to really watch anything though.
So, I’m 2 episodes in on The Outsider, starting the third right now. True Detective was good but this is a whole new level. Knowing what I know about Stephen King’s writing style, all I can come up with right now is that There are two Jason Bateman’s… Our good Jason Bateman we all love and then the complete opposite evil Jason Bateman that some how got into our universe and is killing kids. That’s why all the DNA and fingerprints match. Guess I’ll see if I’m right when it’s over.
I know He’s a minor Character but my favorite is the Lawyer. That guy is cool as shit when he’s on screen. Loads of charisma. Just starting Ep 4 now
