This is the dude that “hey man nice shot” is about.
“Hey Man Nice Shot” is about Cobain. Richard Patrick is full of shit when he denies that.
Really? I read a whole thing that it’s about Bud Dwyer, and that Richard Patrick has hookd up with the family of Mr. Dwyer, and no disrespect was meant by the song and the family is on board with it… Also, Richard Patrick wrote that song, so, wouldn’t he be the ultimate authority on who/what’s it’s about?
Wiki shoots (ha ha) down the cobain theory
Please. He’s lying.
“I wish I would’ve met you
Now it’s a little late
What you could’ve taught me
I could have saved some face”
Why the hell would he want to meet and learn from Budd Dwyer? It’s about Cobain and he doesn’t want to admit it.
“TurboKid” - a Canadian 2015 post-apocalyptic Mad Max type film which features over-the-top “Dead Alive” style comic gore and a million 80’s geekoid inspirations/ references. It’s a lot of fun and the cinematography is weirdly beautiful.
“Accidental Courtesy” - A super cool documentary about a black musician named Daryl Davis who 30-some years ago started meeting with and befriending KKK members in his quest to understand how people could hate him just for the color of his skin. His journey for education led to connecting with such people and 200+ of them (high ups, even, such as Imperial Wizards, Grand Dragons, etc.) making the choice to leave the Klan (on their own) as they realize ultimately what a bunch of shit they were wrapped up in.
“Can We Take A Joke?” - A recent documentary about censorship and moral outrage in the stand-up comedian realm. I thought this one was really a waste. I agree with their intent and position, but it was pretty pointless and blunt and ultimately quite boring. They present the “other side” as these nameless/brainless dipshits disrupting their great comic utopia and our lovely world of free speech. But they don’t actually introduce any of them or talk to any of them. I think this so-called social justice and moral censorship and whatnot is a bunch of silly bullshit, but I would like to hear from the other side of the fence if you’re going to make a documentary about something. Ultimately, this was pretty boring and a fucking waste.
The song was written and recorded in '91 with reznor in Reznor’s house, long before Cobain offed himself. I’m going with the artist over crazy internet conspiracy nonsense.
Now that the smoke’s gone
And the air is all clear
Those who were right there
Got a new kind of fear
Nobody was around when cobain shot himself. (except maybe courtney if you’re courting those kinds of theories) Certainly not a group to be a “those” and what would any of “those” people have to fear? Bud dwyer pulled a gun out at a press conference and shot himself leaving people scared. One journalist ended up retiring from journalism for a while based on it.
You’d fight and you were right
But they were just too strong
Bud Dwyer was fighting against corruption charges. He was found guilty even though he maintained his innocence all the way through the trial and up until he shot himself. His appeals lost. (coincidently, in 2010 more evidence came out to show he was indeed guilty.) So, Bud Dwyer was not “right” and it’s good “their” strength was strong cause it made sure justice was served.
What was cobain fighting against that he was right about but everyone else was just too strong with their wrongness
They’d stick it in your face
And let you smell what they consider wrong.
What did Cobain do that was wrong that they stuck in his face?
Dwyer, also shot himself in the face (Mouth actually but still face) So, yeah coulda saved some face.
How screwed up our justice system is (Although, it wasn’t in Dwyer’s case). How it affected Dwyer personally. He could learn Dwyer’s personal details of what happened… Hear it from the horses mouth.
More suggests it’s Dwyer than Cobain and then on top of that Patrick SAYS it’s about Dwyer…
What’s he gonna learn from cobain? they both know how to play the guitar… They both had tours and touring…
I heard this guy on Rogan. Fantastic interview. The guy’s story is simply amazing.
Even lyric genius has the breakdown of how it applies to bud dwyer… check this out.
That’s where I first learned of the guy and I started looking into him further and found a bunch of stuff on YouTube and also learned of the documentary. Amazing is right. Total badass.
Rapeman (Albini-Sims-Washam) wrote a song about Budd Dwyer, too. It was called “Budd.” Not much room for interpretation there…
Is anyone by any chance watching this HBO mini series called I Know This Much is True?
God damn I just looked up the synopsis of this thing. Sounds crazy depressing.
I don’t have HBO. I’m just now getting to Season one of True Detective. (Well actually haven’t started yet) A friend let me borrow the season. So I plan on starting it “any day now.” I was interested in it cause you guys were posting about how great it was a while back.
I liked the first 2…didn’t see the third. First one is the best I believe.
That’s what My buddy said too. He said they may be doing another season bringing back woody harrelson Mathew Macconnahay or they did or something…
Skip “True Detective” and go straight to “The Outsider.” It’s everything “True Detective” wanted to be and then some.
RAMBO: LAST BLOOD (2019)
I’ve been preaching this one for the last 5 months.
The latest RAMBO flick totally flew under the radar. Even most of my Rambo fan buddies hadn’t yet seen it. I think it was in a few theaters for a week or two, and apparently was a bit of a flop commercially.
But, HOLY SHIT!!! It’s a wild ride! No political subtext or posturing about wars, PTSD, or any such high-minded jibber jabber. This could just as easily be a Mel Gibson movie since it follows the formula and the plot can be super simplified . . .
Motherfuckers fuck with Rambo’s niece and Rambo gets pissed and kills all them motherfuckers.
And the killings are plentiful and violent and gory as fuck! This could be classified as a slasher horror film if Rambo wasn’t “the good guy”. He hacks, stabs, shoots, crushes, impales. Seriously, if there’s a means of killing a motherfucker, Rambo does it. He’s hacking off limbs, pulling out organs . . . seriously, one of the most violent films I’ve seen, hahaha!!!
No filler. No bullshit. The movie is 90 minutes long, but that’s only IF you include the credits. It’s really 75-80 minutes of gnarly bloodshed and brutality.
If you are a fan of Stallone, Rambo, or just violent gore . . . you’re gonna fucking LOVE it! Great finale for the series.
Its sad but wouldn’t really call it depressing…Ruffalo is excellent in it playing dual roles…something about it really drew me in…even Rosie O’Donell couldn’t ruin it…
Seasons 1 and 3 of True Detective were real good I thought…2 was just ok but not as bad as its reputation suggests…
The Outsider was very good…dread filled to the end…
Had been wondering about the latest Rambo…the one from 10 years ago or so was a gory grindhouse extravaganza…
This last one is honestly my second favorite.
I love all of them, and would probably rank 'em like this…
First Blood
Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
Rambo (2008)
Rambo, First Blood Part II
Rambo III
