Seen any good movies lately?

The Man from Nowhere is an excellent film…great action and acting and a heartfelt and touching script without pandering or being self-earnest…I went through a heavy phase of watching Asian cinema a few months back,Korean cinema in particular, and this was one I watched…good call…

Accurate description of I Saw the Devil…tense film…all around well done

[reply]God damn, does every thread have to devolve in to a bitchy vagina fest?..fucks sake…

Can you imagine if some alien came down to Earth to pose as a human and was trying to assimilate into our world but made the mistake of defining reality and morality from what he read on Prongs?

Young hot naked chicks = gross.

600 lb naked sweaty hambeasts = sexy.

Calling someone a fag = wrong.

Boning your longtime partner’s teenaged Korean import daughter when you’re 85 years old = totally acceptable.

Haha,excellent…

When I wrote that this morning my head was still pounding like demon’s blood from drinking 18,764 rum and cokes at The Cult concert last night…I actually don’t care about all the bitching back and forth on the board…just seems a bit overkill lately…it’s like anything…it starts off being amusing to some degree and then when there is overload,it becomes redundant and boring…but mostly,I’m just horribly hung over…I’m so hungover my hair hurts…

I Saw the Devil is a harsh but great film…I saw it when it was released and then recently saw it again on the big screen at a local art house cinema…riveting stuff…

i agree. i LOVE this movie. i was really surprised by it, because i had never heard of it going in, so i didnt know what to expect.

also, has anyone here seen the lost classic ‘Born of Fire’? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092691/

I’m a huge fan of 70s and 80s cult films so I’m surprised I’ve never heard of Born of Fire…although the cover art does look familiar…gonna check it out…

I watched The Last Stand with Arnold. Terrible movie which I thought it would be.

I thought the main bad guy was crap, and the FBI, especially Forest Whitaker, were really annoying, but i really liked all the stuff in Arnie’s town.

i LOVE this movie. i saw it first years and years ago, and hunted down a VHS of it, now it is one of my go-to films when people bring up strange foreign arty ‘horror’/fantasy/supernatural/spiritual flicks.

also, have you seen The Reflecting Skin? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100469/ AMAZING movie. i couldnt recommend it more. it has a lot of similar discomforts and uneasinesses with Gummo, but eschews comedy with stark horribleness. anyone who is into cult/offbeat films should take a peek at this one.

Is that the one with Viggo Mortensen?

A Tale Of Two Sisters is the shit. Confusing as hell though. I remember watching it again with imdb or wiki up explaining each bit to make it easier. I’ll have to check out I Saw The Devil.

[reply]It doesn’t phase me.

We can see that.[/reply]
Just pointing it out, not that I care.

[reply]Yeah but your snippy posts to me didn’t show up until after the negative reviews and your snippy is never directed at atom even though as you state, its both of us. Whatever. I got no beef with you you can continue to be the angry artist towards me. It doesn’t phase me.

man, grow the fuck up. like i said, you have disliked my music before, and for years now. if you really wanna play the gradeschool ‘i know you better than you do because i am smarter than you’ game, then ask gunnar, i even PMed him QUITE some time ago about how you can be an annoying ass with your hyper opinionated personal attacks and whining.

i like how whenever someone has any issue with you at all, you find a way to make it about THEM instead of taking the introspective role and seeing if anything YOU did might be the root.

either way, you can think im a big touchy artist all ya want, but that has jack all to do with it.[/reply]
Why are YOU getting so angry? I’ve done nothing to you, except not like YOUR music. wonder if that PM came to gunnar before or after i gave you a negative review?

I would’ve been fine keeping my opinions to myself about it, but you asked.

as far as not liking your “other music” I don’t remember you posting any “other music.” As I said before Void is the only one I ever give unsolicited negative feedback to.
Calm down, friend, no sense in going all Atom over it, it’s just an opinion.

If you have a problem with my opinion hyper or otherwise I think the problem is you.

Who started it? that’s all I’m saying.

Is that the one with Viggo Mortensen?

indeed it is!

he was in a bunch of interesting films before he got his big (american) break with the Lord of the Rings films.

wonder if that PM came to gunnar before or after i gave you a negative review?

It’s quite possible he’s referring to a message in the past that I do not recall as I’ve had numerous conversations with Rusty. I like his honesty and his perspectives on many things and enjoy corresponding on stuff outside of the page itself. He has some similar views as myself when it comes to matters of art and aesthetics. But mostly I appreciate him as a very genuine seeming person with a good heart.

I wouldn’t typically ever discuss anyone’s PM’s or mine, but since they were brought up by both of you and Rusty may be inadvertently selling himself short I think I can break protocol for a moment.

Regarding the topic of Grumpy as discussed between Rusty and Gunnar, it was not even Rusty that brought it up. I actually contacted HIM. Following Grumpy’s review of Rusty’s musical offering I reached out to Rusty. I thought Grumpy’s reviews were a bit blunt and dismissed the aspect that the particular style of music that Rusty was working on may not be something that Grumpy is familiar with or can connect to, and I didn’t want to see Rusty get discouraged by the less-than-stellar feedback he’d received.

I told him not to take the criticisms to heart and to keep things in perspective. Far from using my letter as a chance to springboard into any slam against Grumpy or personal critique of the guy, however, Rusty merely acknowledged that the music wasn’t for everyone and that not everyone reviews things in the same manner. He said nothing critical or negative of Grumpy at this time.

I love the Smurf. He’s a good friend and a solid dude. Anyone lucky enough to meet him outside the board may likely be surprised to find an easy-going dude who’s easy to hang out with, eager to share what he has with whomever is interested. He’s passionately opinionated about stuff like politics, religion, and whatnot and I can tell you that on such matters he and I differ or disagree vastly, but it doesn’t come up and doesn’t ruin a good time. Grumpy, like me, has a persona online and a persona in person. To think that words that someone throws on a screen (especially when someone may just love a good online throw down) represents the be all end all of that person’s existence would be silly.

That being said, online Grumpy is the only Grumpy that many people know. Grumpy knows that people may judge him accordingly and he’s fine with that.

We’re all responsible for our own portrayed images on the board. When we feel we are unhappy with how we are coming across or how we are responding we can change that.

Anyway, I don’t really give a rat’s ass whether these two wanna menstruate on each other or measure each others’ pee pees. They’re both cool cats in my book and it doesn’t really matter whether they like each other (or whether anyone else likes them) or not. I just felt like weighing in since I heard my name referenced.

Cheers, Fags.

measure each others’ pee pees

i dont know why that made me laugh out loud as much as it did. i cant read this board on my phone, it makes me giggle in public. haha.

either way, gunny, have you seen The Reflective Skin? i think you would dig it. as i said before it has similarities with Gummo, but… in a darker way. i would love to hear what you think of it.

Yeah,he always did good work before and after he got famous…he also made some cool albums with Buckethead…

I saw the Reflecting Skin and enjoyed it…it’s been a while though and I need to re-watch it…saw it in the early 90s…

I just saw the trailer for “Reflecting Skin”. This flick looks cool.

It also made me hankerin’ for a screening of “PARENTS”. Who else has seen and adores this one?

I can’t remember the details, but there was some scandal with him a couple years back where he was mooching in a house for free or running some con job . . . . I’ll have to look it up and get refreshed. It was weird and funny and crooked whatever it was. And yeah, Quaid is awesome. Cousin Eddie rules so hard!

HAHAHA!!! Okay, Wiki has a good summary of the various Randy Quaid “scandals”.

It always cracked me up because everytime I’d hear one of these stories I’d just think, “Well, yeah, that’s Cousin Eddie. What did you expect? That’s how he rolls!”
