Seen any good movies lately?

The Squid And The Whale (2005)

Absolutely enthralling piece set in 1986 about a warring New York couple (Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney) and the effect it has on their kids.

It is a no holds barred affair, free of the cloy, dopey sentimentaility usually attached to these types of coming of age things.

Jeff Daniels is particularly effective as the embodiment of a pretentious, literary snob. By the end of the film you want to slap this cunt in the face.

Highly recommended - 8/10

And yes Gunnar, take Amlux’s advice and check out Downfall immediately.

Saw it at the cinema 10 years ago in London and it still resonates with me even today. Bruno Ganz is quite possibly the greatest actor alive.

I’m interested in this flick coming out called The Purge about the government sanctioning one night out of the year where all criminal activity is made legal…the citizens regulate all crime(including murder)without the fear of punishment…looks kinda cool…with Ethan Hawke and the actress from Game of Thrones whose name I’m forgetting at the moment…

Lena Headey

ahh yes,that’s it…

An ad for that movie came up before a youtube video I was going to watch. I actually sat through the whole preview. It looks like it could be pretty decent.

Watched Prometheus and the Total Recall remake recently. I really liked them both.

I knew exactly what I was in for when I watched The Comedy, but still thought it was pretty frickin’ abysmal.

I’ve always liked the Kill Bill movies, but I watched them both back to back yesterday for the first time in like six years and knowing that Tarantino kind of uses his films as a vehicle for his raging foot fetish makes them nothing short of brilliant.

Not sure if i mentioned this before and I am too lazy to go look, but I went and saw Sleepwalk With Me. Good movie, I like Mike Birbiglia, but the absolute WORST date movie ever, especially if you and your lady have trust issues in your past. Seriously, that movie probably wrecked weekends for thousands of dudes like me who didn’t do their research.

Watched this last night.

That preview is intense!

Honestly, I hate pretty much 99% of anything nowadays, but that preview just gave me the heebie jeebies. Also, it is so rare that Hollywood does anything original these days. This looks really dark and pretty damn cool.

Fucking love that movie!!

The best of all the original Star Trek movies. My favorite characters have always been bones and Scotty so when they were teamed up to get the plexi glass that was awesome!
“Hello Computer?”
and then McCoy thinking he’s smart hands him the mouse.
“hello Computer?”
“just use the keyboard.”
“A keyboard, how quaint”

Haha!! It’s definitely the goofiest! I think Wrath of Khan takes the cake for best Trek movie.

Scotty talking into the mouse was one of the best moments from the Star Trek films. But yeah, WRATH OF KHAN is the best of the series.

agreed. hard.

i will however say that both Generations and the godly First Contact both take Khan to town.

I just ordered this:

Oooo I dont know about Generations. Generations was thoroughly boring. Sad because it had so much potential. Kirk and Picard, the two biggest icons in the Star Trek universe in the same movie, has to be epic right? It fell flat imo.

I like 4 the best with The search for Spock coming in at a solid 2nd!

It’s not something I’ve seen for the first time but I watched Drive again the other night and I still love it. The cinematography and soundtrack are beautiful and work so well together.

Watched Bronson again as well and I still fucking love that movie too.
Tom Hardy is godlike. I think he’ll do excellent in Fury Road. Whether or not the actual film itself will be any good is a different story. But having him on board gives me hope. Because that motherfucker can act.

Django Unchained for the millionth time and it’s still fresh to me. Fucking love that movie. I love spaghetti westerns and I love Tarantino, so it’s a match made in heaven in my eyes.

I wanna see Side Effects with Rooney Mara but I haven’t the time nor the will to go to the theater and spend a ridiculous amount of money. And all the R5s I’ve found supposedly have audio issues.

Watched High Fidelity again tonight. Man, this flick is great! I haven’t watched it in years, but it’s every bit as good as I remember. Dick and Barry are the stars of this flick. This was my first introduction to jack black (Barry)… Well, formal introduction. My room mate in college was into Tenacious D but I only knew them by the band name but I didn’t know who the members were.

Anyway give it a watch if you get a chance.
