Duel wasn’t cheese at all. there’s barely any dialogue, it’s a pretty fuckin cool movie.

I believe so. I think it was his student film.

Ahhh, yes, “Duel”.
90 minutes of driving down a hill and looking at the gas gauge and odometer, with occasional shots of a roadside diner or caged rattlesnakes to keep things unpredictable.
Saturday on the couch never sounded so good.

It’s better than that.

You can always say fuck it and just watch ‘Bullitt’…Steve Fuckn McQueen…!
Vanashing Point! The ending was kinda WTF but I totally want a Challenger now.
All those car movies are great: Vanishing point, Duel, The Car; and I just saw The Hearse (the latter two are my favorites!)
Well, here I go again with the car shit again for those who couldn’t get enough. And some cars to show you!
Here’s a classic '70 Challenger R/T I spotted at car show:
This is my new Challenger SRT-8, first new car I’ve owned. It drives like, and is nearly as big as an old Cadillac hearse I once had. Frankly my older cars are more my style, but what the hell…
sicksteve, how much for that new Challenger? I think it’s silly if it’s over 15K…
MSRP on a 2012 is 25k.
How did you afford that steve? I thought you used to make yourself out to be all destitute and shit over at the P.A. You come into some cash? get a well paid job??

Thats the base model, or as I like to call it the cheapo model. I really want a Challenger though. I know they drive like Dodge Rams, and are a little too heavy for a sports coupe, but man, sure looks sexy.

God, I feel destitute after this car (the SRT-8 model costs >$35k, but it was bought iwith a wimpy lexus trade-in).
A well-paying job would be nice, if I had some decent healthcare. So much fuckin’ pain i can’t stand it!! The DEA arrested my primary care physician and left me feeling like shit.
nice car Steve…I’m more a fan of the classic cars as well…they just looked better, like pieces of art. that’s one reason why I couldn’t get a Challenger. while the new models look nice, I don’t think they hold a candle to the classic look. (what modern car does though? )
as you mentioned, it’s a big car too. and I live in a place where it’s veryyyy hard to find parking spots on the street, so a big car wouldn’t help that.
the mid-level Eclipse was around the starting price for a basic level Challenger. so that, and the smaller size, is what ulitmately swayed me. it was a tough time period finanically when I got this (kinda had to lie in order for them to sell me the car) but things have turned around a bit since. here’s me picking up my grandmother the day I got the car last may.
Suck my affordability, excellent gas mileage, and compact size with a roomy interior!
Nice cars!
Why can’t I be as practical?
Not to derail the movie thread or anything, but the reason probably lies in growing up in an age when bigger was better. It was extremely difficult for me to adapt to the smaller cars from the late '70’s gas crisis - much the same way the newer Ministry sound is inaccessible and boring compared to the classic period material (Twitch - LORAH). No matter how much creators try to capture the old spirit in cars or music, it just isn’t possible.
One of my first Mopars was a '70 Plymouth Road Runner that was involved many exploits that I can’t imagine engaging in today. Definitely not the same level of excitement as a new car.
My legacy will most likely be wasting away on a rotting carcass of an old automotive hulk in some barren land devoid of oil.
Vanishing point…one of my all time favorites. I wanted that car so bad, I ended up with Camaros. I’ve owned a 75’, 76’, 78’ & 94’. I’ve had the 94’ for 13 years. Since it’s time for a new car…I might buy the new Camaro or maybe the Infiniti G37x.
Since this thread has turned into an all out car porn suck fest, check this. Camaro vs Challenger.

Them Camaros looks sick.
DJ, that’s what they call a pussy magnet.
