I absolutely enjoyed TAKEN I got this the other night on Blu Ray and while the first 20 minutes is kinda crappy due to bad acting by Liam Neeson’s daughter, as soon as Liam Neeson hits Paris the movie kicks ass… LITERALLY! It’s just an hour of Liam beating EVERYBODY’S ASS!
BTW you can pass on Alice in Wonderland… stale and boring

The nines… a fucking incredible movie. Here’s the netflix description
Three stories intertrine and creatively converge in John August’s film that stars Ryan Reynolds, melissa McCarthy and Hope Davis in multiple roles. This offbeat trilogy begins with “the Prisoner” about a popular tv actor under house arrest; “Reality television” follows a TV producer’s struggle to launch a new series starring his close friend; and “knowing” features a video game designer seeking help for his family stranded by car trouble.
Deals with people and god and they’re point of existance. that’s all i’ll give away
Just saw Pontypool last night.
been wanting to see it since somebody here dropped a review. Liked it. very good. Excellent non-zombie, zombie flick!
Pretty much a nice metaphor on what talk-radio does to America.

Yeah the lead actor was rather good! he reminded me a little of Don Imus… in looks, not so much personality!
Well, if you got Showtime or the movie channel (one of those Although i think it was showtime) it’s been playing on there lately. Thanks for the recommend!
They’re playing I sell the dead too! I may DVR that one as well!

‘Silip’
An incorrectly-labelled exploitation film from the Philippines from the 80s, that is a lot smarter than what it gets credit for. It’s hard viewing at times, but the lead actress… boner
RAW AND UNTAMED
Required viewing.
Watched the National Treasure movies again this weekend. As much as I loathe Nick Cage (I put him in the same category as Keannue Reeves for acting) I really like him in National Treasure. These movies are freaking great! They’re like “The Goonies” movie for adults. Such good fun flicks! I think #2 might actually be better than #1 but it’s a close call cause they’re both so much fun.

If you want to see a great film with Nic Cage in it watch Herzog’s ‘Bad Lieutenant’. It’s great stuff.
Saw ‘Lebanon’. Was good, but could have been so much better. Going to see ‘The Killer Inside Me’ later this week. Jessica Alba gets roughed up. Will report back.
Saw ‘Inglorious Basterds’ for the first time and really enjoyed it - which is odd because I really don’t like Tarantino.
Surprisingly, ‘The Unborn’ wasn’t all that bad either. It did get horrible reviews upon release and yes it was pretty generic and B grade and NOT particularly scary (unless you are my sister who is scared of any horror film), however if you are looking for a throwaway dvd to snuggle up to on a rainy Saturday arvo, then this may just hit the spot.
There’s some Josef Mengele references (Nazi doctor) that piqued my interest somewhat.
On the down side the last 10 minutes are pathetic.
Really pathetic.
I saw Benjamin Buttons last night. It was alright.
isn’t Affleck in that? don’t even know what this movie is about.

It’s about some baby that was born old and got younger as time went on.
Wasn’t this the premise from Mork and Mindy when Mork had a baby?

‘The Killer Inside Me’
Man, what a weird film. More so a weird viewing experience. At times deeply disturbing and upsetting but by the end of it I thought it was really something. The end I thought was brilliant. If you’re looking for a pretty messed up film that is set in small town 50s America, check it out. Jessica Alba can’t act but she is scrumptious. But both her and Kate Hudson meet very disturbing endings, made me feel sick. Casey Affleck is a great actor, unnerving how he played the psycho. Brilliant cameo from Bill Pullman at the end. Some people hate this film and I can understand why but if you want to be truly affected by a film, it’s a must.
The Vanishing
The original film made in 1988 and I believe it is a Dutch film. Either way, it has subtitles and had one of the most memorable endings ever.
Don’t confuse this with the piece of crap loosely tied remake of the same name with Jeff Bridges.
I recently purchased a Blue Ray player and this is availble on Netflix streaming format.
Check it out.

Your right grmpy, Jonathan Winters played the baby! I had forgotten about this.
Vampiyaz
The Toxic Avenger
Abby: The Black Excorcist
Eventually got to see Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me properly… peeeeuuuuwww
What a steaming pile… I can still smell it.
Yuck.
EDIT: upon reflection I have to say I over shot the criticism with FWWM. Some really strong scenes have stuck with me and the film does have seem quality elements. However I think they’re in short supply. The first 30 mins do seem like a real bad Lynch parody. The film is arguably his most disturbing and upsetting from his catalogue. I think maybe because I was in a good mood before watching then it really dragged me down. The second half of it (particularly the last 10-15 mins) is a barrage of a very real kind of horror. The acting is at times really bad but during the disturbing scenes the actors do a good job. The film is still probably his weakest alongside Wild at Heart but still it has strengths.
The Warriors. Was very let down. Was expecting some gruesome gang violence and instead got nothing more than poor dialogue, unconvincing performances and very little worth memorizing. I’d really like to know why this movie has a huge following.
Street Trash. Classic on every level, lots of gore, funny characters and mean spirited comedy done in the spirit of The Toxic Avenger.
Undisputed III.
Best. Movie. EVAR.
Last night I saw a double bill of Terminator 1 & 2 in the cinema. Wonderful stuff altogether. Having grown up with these films (especially the first which I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve seen it) it was marvellous to see them on the big screen with deadly speakers. The first one was more a novelty having never seen it in the cinema before but T2 blew me away; it is fucking awesome in the cinema, sound was blasting. One of the best cinema experiences evah!!!
