Oh and don’t see ‘Brothers’. Totally lame “Afghanistan war is bad” film. What I knew going into the film was that Natalie Portman is a gem and I left ever surer of that. Everything else about the film is totally forgettable, including the horrendous U2 song at the end. Avoid.

I’m watching the surrogates w/bruce willis right now… So far so good. Aparently the theatrical cut had alot less footage that got restored to the dvd that explained the story better.

That’s out already? Sweet! that looked like a cool dystopian film! I don’t think I ever saw an ad for it for the theaters but I’ve seen commercials for the DVD release and it looks bad ass!

She stated before that she does not like to do nudity because it will flood the internet (there’d probably be 100,000s of porno sites dedicated to her nudity alone, and she’s against the rampage of internet pornography). Technically she has already appeared nude in a short film by Wes Anderson that was a prelude to the crappy ‘Darjeeling Ltd.’ But you see her from the side and she’s bruised, so it’s hardly erotic. However I think she also did say before that she would go nude if it was done right. Maybe this film will be just it.
Also I very much disagree about fraudulence of Aronofsky. His first few flicks were good, if a little overrated but ‘The Wrestler’ was ace.
and yet her first movie, “the professional” is like, total borderline child porn in how the sexualize her character and the professional’s relationship.
I wouldn’t say it borders on child porn, I mean she doesn’t have to do anything disturbing in a sexual sense. Leon never makes any sexual advance on her and is more a surrogate father. Her expressions of any romantic love are totally innocent as most children say when of that age. I haven’t seen Leon in a while but I loved it as a youngster (saw it first when I was about 8 or 9). And Jean Reno makes a pretty cool hitman, even though he’s French.
And plus Danny “Dellaven-fuckin-tura” Aiello is in it.

I watched both parts of the Jacques Mesrine film on Blu-ray yesterday…pretty awesome and well worth the watch. The Blu-ray has both films “Killer Instinct” & “Public Enemy” on it.
Vincent Cassel (La Haine) played the part of Mesrine very well…
For those who don’t know…Mesrine was a gangster who led a pretty insane and full-on life. So much shit went down that I had to wikipedia the man to see if it was indeed based on a true story (as I’d never heard of him and so much shit went down)…and apparently he did indeed carry out all that was depicted in the film.

I haven’t seen the flick so I can’t say for sure, But I would imagine Pork is talking about the undertones of the characters. I know what he means cause that’s how I feel about the little boy and the mother at the end of A.I. Only I would call them over tones and not so subtle. Granted they don’t do anything sexual but oh that chemistry is there (at least with the little boy anyway- the mother is basically a shell at that point).

@grmp: yes but porn is porn; explicit sexual portrayal intended to excite/stimulate. Something can have sexual undertones (or even overtones) without being pornographic.
@toot: they should have called the film ‘Shit Went Down’. I have not seen the Mesrine films but they have been recommended to me. Cassel is a pretty cool mofo… which is surprising as he’s French.

This was the movie that every guy i know who’s “into her” got boners over her. I think it was more of a “call me in 5 years” thing. Cute, but a bit stickly to me. I never saw the movie, though.
Saw a few minutes of some George Clooney movie where he’s apparently got psychic powers, and calls himself a jedi. Seems pretty damn weird, but funny at the same time. People Who Look At Goats? Something like that. Certainly want to see more.
I remember hearing about that book ages ago, something about the military experiments with telekenisis as a weapon… or something… based on that and knowing nothing else I think it sounds interesting lol.

I saw Clooneys other movie Up In The Air. Its hilarious how he goes from city to city firing people, and how he falls for a married chick lol.
