Seen any good movies lately?

Revenge of the Sith is my second favorite Star Wars movie. It’s dark, it’s got great action and it’s a downer.

Just finished Midnight Meat Train
pretty good suspenseful movie, with bucket loads of CGI blood. Not really into gore but the suspense made it a decent movie. The main bad guy had great presence with his silver butcher hammer. Kind of a hokey ending though! I’d still recommend it though.

Midnight Meat Train was a very effective triller, its a shame it was doomed from the outset by bullshit internal poiltics at Lion’s Gate. The new high-up shat on all the projects of his predecessor, MMT opened in dollar theaters for precisely one week before disappearing.

The ending was loopy, but it stuck pretty close to the original short story.

I didn’t know that. I barely remember seeing a few commercials for it. That’s a damn shame. It probably could’ve done pretty well if the advertising and release was better.

Been watching the Star Wars series all the way through.
I don’ care what anyone else says, I like Revenge of the Sith.

I adore Revenge Of The Sith! that’s a fantastic flick, right behind Empire Strikes Back
Episode I isn’t too bad if you can ignore Jar Jar and that dumb little fuck that played Skywalker and just focus on Darth Maul, Qui Gon, and Obi wan

Curse of the Golden Flower

beautiful, stunning film.

Saw the ‘Rosewood’ film last night, based on the 1923 mob rampage that destroyed the town of Rosewood. While it had its decent elements (decent cast) the film especially the last 3rd is very inaccurate and ends up a total mess. I know a more accurate depiction may not have fitted the Hollywood criteria but seriously it gets completely lost in nonsense and bravado.

Yeah, if you can see past the cardboard cut out characters, the convuluted and frustratingly inane script, the kiddy friendly Saturday morning cartoon dialogue, the hammy and ineffective attempts at 'political intrigue, the ‘Jesus’ concept, the silly cgi, the overblown musical score, the bafflingly awkward and leaden performances given by Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor, the hopelessly miscast Anakin Skywalker, Jar Jar Binks, the least exciting space battle in motion picture history, the gaping plot holes, the over use of exposition, the lack of a focal ‘bad guy’, the racists undertones, the fact that the entire film felt like the world’s most expensive school play…

…then, yeah, it’s a good film.

2 BLADES? DUUUUUUDE!

Heh… I love Star Wars, yeah the newer ones are a bit cheesy, (re: sat morning dialogue etc) but if the old ones were only just being made now they would probably come out the same. Star Wars holiday special anyone [laugh]

Peligro - what do you mean Racial undertones? Like those trade fed guys being oriental appearing, or Jar Jar, stuff like that?

I got that clone wars cartoon movie a few months back but haven’t watched it all yet
spoiler alert (Maybe)
[#000000]- wierd rescuing Jabba the Hutts baby plot, rofl, that is incredibly silly and a squealing mini hutt is ridiculous, but still fun.[/#000000]
******** end spoiler
*******

Whats the go with the new ongoing animated series though… I have only seen a few eps, seemed OK - wierd to have the protaganist be the guy who turns into an evil fuck a few years later

i think the prequals actually got better as they went along. George just needed to get his footing back. the second was decent and the third was great. I mean I can’t sit here and recite the entire movie to any of the prequals like i can from the old 3.
But i think I was more let down by the recent animated movie than i was let down by the premature eqaculation that was episode 1

Saw ‘The Hurt Locker’ today. A decent war flick. I think maybe the plot was a bit skewed but maybe that was the point. What I did appreciate was that it veered away from preaching some bullshit message in a didactic manner. There was feck all politics, it just tried to represent the individual soldier. There’s also several Ministry songs featued, all from RGB. The final sequence, maybe the best in the film, had ‘Khyber Pass’ blaring over it as it cut to credits and I must say it worked very well.

6/10

Funny that Al and Angie didn’t hype the hell out of the film, then.

Maybe they just don’t give a shit anymore, or they never did, or Al was too drunk to realise they were using Ministry. It’s not a bad vehicle for them though considering the film is doing quite well.

Maybe they don’t know?! How funny would that be? try to sue Paul over imaginary bullshit but now there is something to really sue over and they are probably too broke to take legal action. That would suck!
Late,

probably got no money, or it went straight to the legal fees. ahhahahhhaha.
toast. curiously, my kid went to see hurt locker and made no mention. no recognizable riffs, sounds, what?
kid knows the back catalogue.

Your kid must only appreciate the “good stuff”. It’s definitely got ‘Fear…’, and finishes with ‘Khyber Pass’. There’s another one in there (the scene where they get drunk and wrestle each other) but I couldn’t be arsed putting in the cd to find out what it’s name is.

But yeah if someone says to Al “hey you know they used songs from Rio Grande Blood for that new war film?” his response might be “I’vvvve no idea what yurtalking bout… What’s Rio Grande Blood?” hick

Then he shits himself.

maybe the money from the film went to getting the ministry remix album out without a delay.

SHOCK HORROR: NICOLAS CAGE STUNS AUDIENCES WORLDWIDE BY APPEARING IN A FILM THAT DOESN’T SUCK!

Yeah, saw that film ‘Lord Of War’ the other day on a whim - and whaddaya know, it was actually really good. Who would have thought?

Recommend it to all and sundry.

Also been watching alot of Michael Haneke as well. Can’t wait for ‘The White Ribbon’ to get an Australian release date

Ponyo. That movie is fucking cool. Trippy as hell and a little frightening in some parts, as usual for Miyazaki, but thoroughly entertaining.

What pisses me off about his films, though, is that people feel it neccessary to bring their little kids to these movies, then wonder why the giant cat/scorpion/fuck-ugly-godknowswhatsis is scaring the fuck out of Junior and now he won’t stop crying. Not for kids, people. This stuff is for weird folks like myself who like whacked-out animation and crazy stories.

Best part of the movie: Liam Neeson as Fujimoto, almost repeating his performance from “Taken” WORD FOR WORD.

[laugh]

Watch it. Seriously.

Just watched Wise Blood.
“Nobody with a good car needs to be justified!”
Harry Dean Stanton is a national treasure.
The soundtrack was terrible.

Sadly, Starship Troopers… twice
