Seen any good movies lately?

Also I forgot to add 'El Topo to my list of things I want to see. Has anyone seen this movie?

I have the box set. I love the director - he’s great. El Topo is more linear, but The Holy Mountain…there’s a mindtrip.

Went out and saw Bruno a few days ago. Was a bit on the “disturbing” side, but funny as hell. They had disclaimers at the front of the theatre saying “those offended won’t get refunds” on decals where you buy the tickets.

I had the great displeasure of watching a shitty british porno the other night called ‘Washout’ or ‘Wipeout’ or something. It was basically just a load of ugly British girls (bar 1 or 2) pissing on each other for an hour. There was one woman who had the sloppiest, loosest vagina I’ve ever seen. It was disgusting. Turned me off sex for about, oh, a few hours.

cant’ believe you watched an hour of it! I’m sure there had to be cartoons on on some other channel!

lol that’s fucking hilarious! I can’t wait to get my copy of Salo in the mail! It seems an appropriately creepy way to acquire the film.

Also I forgot to add 'El Topo to my list of things I want to see. Has anyone seen this movie?

Yeah we’ve mentioned the Jodorwosky films earlier in the thread, the box set is essential. El Topo is the original "Midnite Movie"an existential western, while The Holy Mountain takes a lot of weird mystical symbology and by the end demolishes it all and breaks down the barrier between the viewer and the filmakers. My favorite film of his though is Sante Sangre which is just perverse in its weirdness.

Salo is worth seeing at least once, its not an easy movie to defend.

Charlies Family was released finally some years ago as “The Manson Family”. Because of the nature of the film being partly in the past and the present, the Download soundtrack is only in the parts that take place in the present. Its okay, if you are familiar with Jim Van Beeber’s work (Deadbeat By Dawn/My Sweet Satan), then you will know what to expect, and probably enjoy it. Its not very factual, but rather an extremely sensationalized account of the whole sordid ordeal.

I was forced to watch ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ and ‘Twilight’ by my girlfriend. Let’s just say ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ was miles better. I got stoned in an attempt to make ‘Twilight’ tolerable. This only caused me to break out in hysterical laughter at the overly make-up’d twat Edward and the “acting”. This movie is great comedy if you are into a laugh but I must say:

MASSIVE LOL AT THIS. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Dude, just give her the ‘1930’s approach’… a quick, gentle slap to the face, a pull of the hair and a gentle ‘now, we’ll have none of that darling!’ next time.

Just don’t describe it as ‘the 1930’s approach’ to the parole board… they never fall for it… [:P]

But then again, if you’d adopted this approach earlier, you would not have had to put up with this:

‘Mulholland Drive’ is an awesome film. Mysterious, disconnected head trip full of unanswered questions. Loved it. Girlfriend hated it (“What the fuck is happening?!?”) which means it was great. Stupid cunts eh?

I was forced to watch that ‘Ratatoui’ and it was cute…

I made the cunt watch ‘Blow’ and she said it was boring and depressing. I really like that film though it wasn’t as moving and great as I remembered it seeing it for the millionth time. I think ‘Casino’ is probably better maybe…(I think Sharon Stone trumps Penelope Cruz in virtually the same role as the coked out spoiled insane wife, though Penelope gets an A for effort)

or the whole arrest ‘incident’. Man, I felt fucking sorry for you when I read that, even though it was kind of funny… [;)]

‘Helter Skelter’ is a great portrayal of the aftermath of the Manson murders, the trial etc. Very realistic and the acting is convincing.

Agreed…

but avoid that ‘Charlie’s Family’ one… it’s utter tripe. Continuity issue, non-existent ‘acting’, gratuity in spades… it reeks of little more than a juvenile attempt to shock. Sorta like a 15 year old flasher.

Edward Furlong is a crap actor, I did like him in American History X though. I lauphed when his brother got prison raped in the shower lol. I know I’m mean.

TEN POINTS TO XTRATERRESTRIAL! [laugh]

I too saw Bruno, Piko…

All I can say is that it was as good, if not better, than Borat. Borat had more elements of ‘random’ humour (c’mon, finding a fucking bear?[laugh]), whereas Bruno seems a little less candid, but it’s quality nonetheless… pretty full on tho, I mean… I’ve not been screamed at by another man’s penis since I was an altar boy…

Never let a priest give a literal explanation of ‘transubstantiation’. [:(]

I think it might have been a bit MORE candid that Borat to be honest. Both are great movies also, but Borat had it’s candid moments, but a lot of it seemed staged. This time around, I don’t think he held back with it as much like with the camping/hunting trip, the converter, and Harrison Ford (WOW!). I personally think they topped Borat.

I once watched my copy of ‘The Holy Mountain’ with this HOT Latino girl I had been seeing for about a month, who fulfilled just about every fantasy I had ever had regarding ‘the perfect woman’.

After the movie had finished she excused herself, saying she had left some money on the dashboard of her car parked out the front of my house and went out to go fetch it in case the car got broken into.

When she didn’t come back after about five minutes, I walked outside and her car was gone. The film, it seems, had shocked her into thinking I was some sort of degenerate creep (which isn’t wholly true) who was into scat obsessed artcore films (which isn’t wholly true either) featuring skinless dogs and warring bullfrogs.

Regardless to say, I never saw her again. That was 2 years ago.

It’s bizarre really, as the last time we had been to the dvd store together she was the one who had suggested we rent some Euro porn film - starring petite, barely legal types with tiny breasts and a fixation for rubbing baby oil over each other - and watch it nude.

Which of course we did.

“The Haunting in Connecticut” was a great “make you jump flick!”
I jumped like 3-4 times. one of those movies that you know something is is gonna jump at you but when it does jump at you it still gets you! 9/10

‘There Will Be Blood’ is an awesome movie. Bloody brilliant!

Best film of PT Anderson’s career. And best film this decade.

‘The Dark Knight’ was every bit as good I feel as the hype surrounding it. I’m a huge fan of The Scarecrow and I hope he is featured again in the next movie.

The Dark Knight was every bit as pretentious, muddled and bloated as I thought it would be. It’s like a ‘serious’ drama flick for geeks and people who say ‘awesome’ alot.

‘The Strangers’ was good although definitely one of those frustrating ones where the whole time you’re screaming at the tv because the main characters are so dumb. I scared the shit out of my girlfriend by knocking on the wall at one point. She thought it was someone knocking at the door.

Nope. It seriously bored the hell out of me. I’d be sceptical about even calling it a ‘film’. It was more like a skit.

‘The Crow 3’ (starring Edward Furlong as the Crow) has the distinction of being possibly the most hilarious and worst movie ever made. Hint: there is one scene where Angel (from Buffie the Vampire Slayer)–who plays Satan–and Tara Reid–who plays a Satanic witch replete with Hot Topic wardrobe and goth tiara–battle Edward Furlong (who looks like a bloated, drunken goth Ellen Degeneres) flying in midair and shooting CGI fireballs. Essential for ex-Ministry fans because of the “let’s make fun of goths” factor.

Next to "Signs’ and ‘Natural Born Killers’, ‘The Crow’ is the worst movie I have seen in the cinema. I dread to even think what a Crow sequel would be like.

‘Hellraiser’ is criminally overrated as a horror film. Horrible acting, complete cheese saved only by the special effects (which probably looked cool at the time but are shit now so there really is no redeeming factor).

Mmmmm…kinda agree. Actually some of the sequels make for great popcorn flicks (as they are so outrageously silly), but sadly the original is quite overrated. Although Pinhead seriously creeps me out…

‘Mulholland Drive’ is an awesome film. Mysterious, disconnected head trip full of unanswered questions. Loved it. Girlfriend hated it (“What the fuck is happening?!?”) which means it was great. Stupid cunts eh?

Whenever people tell me that films like ‘Mullholland Drive’ “sucked” and that they “were stupid and didn’t even make sense”…I never discuss film with them EVER again.

[replyAlso I forgot to add 'El Topo to my list of things I want to see. Has anyone seen this movie?[/reply]

I really enjoyed ‘El Topo’. More so than The Holy Mountain which is a bit more lofty/pretentious, features male genital mutilation (though not very graphic), but is still enjoyable and has plenty of tit.

‘El Topo’ has some amazing set pieces, particularly the end with the “slaughter”. If someone were looking for a mindfuck of a film while high or whatever I’d recommend ‘El Topo’ straight away.

Has anyone seen ‘Antichrist’ yet? (the new Lars Von Trier film, who by all accounts is a total dickhead) I’ve heard its pretty shocking, with scenes such a girl bashing a guy in the nuts and jerks him off till he cums blood and then she cuts off her own clit. Really though what is the point of that? I’d much rather watch twin sisters have real sex as Manson has promised us.

The preview for Antichrist certainly looks dark and interesting, that Willem Dafoe is in it is a plus. I am not sure if the genital mutilation is that integral to the story, or if Lars Von Trier is simply trying to push some boundaries. I am hit or miss with Von Trier, The Element of Crime, Epidemic, and Dancer in the Dark were all pretty good, but some of his Dogma 95 films I didn’t care for. He’s a little too pretentious for me at times.

I wanna see that[:/]I’m a dirty mo fo

A new film called ‘The Hurt Locker’, looks kinda cool. The trailer has 3 songs from RGB (Senor Peligro, Fear & Khyber Pass… I think):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDHGF4tDdKc

The new Scorcese horror film ‘Shutter Island’ looks alright too:

A new zombie film with the legend that is Woody Harrelson, ‘Zombieland’:

And a new Roman Egypt epic, ‘Agora’ (which I will go to see for the Pharos of Alexandria at least):

I had the great displeasure of having to watch ‘Constantine’ with a friend who is into the lower brow CGI kind of shit last night. God it was awful. I think they started it off with the image of Keanu Reeves in a slick suit toting an awesome looking gold crucifix gun and then wrote the script from there. Style over substance 100% and a terrible terrible concept.

A shame, because the comic book John Constantine is such a cool character.

they will never, ever be successfull in making any vertigo comic series into a movie that’s on par with the comic.

they will never, ever be successfull in making any vertigo comic series into a movie that’s on par with the comic.

Here’s hoping there will never be a Sandman movie. A Preacher movie is on the horizon though [:(]

I know… It sucks but at least preacher doesn’t have anywhere NEARLY the complexities of sandman when is comes to backstory and characters.
The only realy way to tell the sandman story proper would make the Lord of the Rings trilogy look like an episode of Cheers

Just saw the friday the 13th remake… worse movie EVER… only the last 2 seconds were worth the time i spent on this piece of shit.
God I don’t know why I ever kept watching it… well actually i do… i was hoping for a scene like jason X had where he has the 2 girls in sleeping bags and is banging them against the trees… :sigh: at least this cheered me up

Yeah seriously Sandman would be an epic undertaking. I’ve read the whole Preacher series, and honestly I like Garth Ennis’ run on Constantine better. His set up there of basically the storyline of the movie and having like 50 issues later getting the punch line delivered was priceless.
