HEAT is awesome, love that film
‘Public Enemies’
From one viewing it is fairly good. The second half is brilliant; some amazing set pieces, theres a shootout in the woods at nightime that is fantastic. the end is done very well too. The first half seemed a bit wonky but maybe it will make more sense on the second view. However the amateur projectionist in the cinema couldn’t get the focus right and that was a pain, the sound was scuppered in parts too.
Well worth seeing.
recently watched scarface, carlito’s way, the untouchables, casino
believe it or not, i haven’t seen 'em before which is a shame because they are all great flicks. they just don’t make 'em like that nowadays…
HEAT is awesome, love that film
This is probably my favorite all time cop/crime movie. Excellent cast in that one all around.
I am not that big on Scarface, I just cannot understand the worship that film gets when there are far better Pacino films. The Godfather II is where its at for me in regard to Pacino, and Deniro.
i’ve yet to watch godfather trilogy, i hope i won’t fall asleep (they are fuckin’ loooong!) like those three times trying to watch apocalypse now redux
I have consistently put Heat as my top film for years. Theres just no beating it
Scarface is good but overrated, just like Pacino!

dude, you must watch! don’t bother with 3, watch one - then 2. do it for me if nothing else! ha.
ya know about scarface, i have this one. and i’ve always liked it. but i pulled it out a few weeks ago, for one of my “chilling at the house drinking beer on a saturday” and i must say. i didn’t like it. maybe it was my mood that day - i dunno. i got through about 30 mins then put in something else. but up until that moment would consider it a good costa notra drama.

Yeah Scareface is severely overated, especialy with the hip hop culture he’s like a fucking god to them. I guess its the whole rich gangster thing. Heat happens to be one of my favorite films as well, the shootout downtown with the cops is fucking epic- Chemlab sampled that shit btw.
Saw some fucked-up piece of cinema called “The Girl Next Door” or something like that a few days ago. Was expecting some campy, fratboy wetdream but instead got clitoral mutilation and Gummo-status evil kids.
Wow.

Where’d you see this?

Watched ‘There Will Be Blood’ for the second time.
Good heavens if that isn’t the greatest film made so far this century.
An absolute masterpiece!

Not a fan of the “story” but damn if that main character isn’t very likeable even if/especiallythat he is a mean asshole. Bought that on blu-ray blind and don’t reget it at all. Hell I may even pop it in again right now!

I watched Zardoz the other night.
So no, I haven’t seen any good movies lately.
Yeah, but the first five minutes of Zardoz with the giant head floating over the cavemen, giving them an anti-penis rant and then throwing them guns is brilliant! The rest of the movie can’t even begin to match those first five minutes.
Con Air. It’s not good, but it’s fun to watch while drunk, especially because of Nicolas Cage’s horrible attempt at a Southern accent.
This past winter I was stuck living in CT with my ex-girlfriend and we rented a lot of movies so here is the lowdown of the ones I remember from that time period (some are new, some older):
‘There Will Be Blood’ is an awesome movie. Bloody brilliant!
‘The Dark Knight’ was every bit as good I feel as the hype surrounding it. I’m a huge fan of The Scarecrow and I hope he is featured again in the next movie.
‘Hostel 2’ is very good. I like all the gore and stuff and no it doesn’t actually scare or disturb me but nonetheless is entertaining.
‘The Strangers’ was good although definitely one of those frustrating ones where the whole time you’re screaming at the tv because the main characters are so dumb. I scared the shit out of my girlfriend by knocking on the wall at one point. She thought it was someone knocking at the door.
I was forced to watch ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ and ‘Twilight’ by my girlfriend. Let’s just say ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ was miles better. I got stoned in an attempt to make ‘Twilight’ tolerable. This only caused me to break out in hysterical laughter at the overly make-up’d twat Edward and the “acting”. This movie is great comedy if you are into a laugh but I must say:
‘The Crow 3’ (starring Edward Furlong as the Crow) has the distinction of being possibly the most hilarious and worst movie ever made. Hint: there is one scene where Angel (from Buffie the Vampire Slayer)–who plays Satan–and Tara Reid–who plays a Satanic witch replete with Hot Topic wardrobe and goth tiara–battle Edward Furlong (who looks like a bloated, drunken goth Ellen Degeneres) flying in midair and shooting CGI fireballs. Essential for ex-Ministry fans because of the “let’s make fun of goths” factor.
‘Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’ is a cool movie. Funny, clever in that British white boy way and epic. Tedious to watch the whole way through but still entertaining and fun.
‘Dune’ on the other hand is just too bloated, pompous and boring for its own good. Completely put me to sleep.
‘Teeth’ is really a great film that mixes horror and black comedy with some good acting and memorable situations. They basically set up a movie with the most impossible-to-take-seriously concept ever (a girl with teeth in her vag) and made it work.
‘Hellraiser’ is criminally overrated as a horror film. Horrible acting, complete cheese saved only by the special effects (which probably looked cool at the time but are shit now so there really is no redeeming factor).
‘Mulholland Drive’ is an awesome film. Mysterious, disconnected head trip full of unanswered questions. Loved it. Girlfriend hated it (“What the fuck is happening?!?”) which means it was great. Stupid cunts eh?
I was forced to watch that ‘Ratatoui’ and it was cute…
I made the cunt watch ‘Blow’ and she said it was boring and depressing. I really like that film though it wasn’t as moving and great as I remembered it seeing it for the millionth time. I think ‘Casino’ is probably better maybe…(I think Sharon Stone trumps Penelope Cruz in virtually the same role as the coked out spoiled insane wife, though Penelope gets an A for effort)
‘Chapter 27’ was an interesting film centered on Mark David Chapman in the days leading to his assassination of John Lennon. Jared Leto gained weight for the role and really pulls it off. Lindsay Lohan is good in it and the guy who plays Lennon is convincing as well (the funny thing is that guys name is Mark Lindsay Chapman and he was picked to play Lennon years ago in a film but Yoko Ono fired him when she found out his real name). I would recommend it for those looking for a nice little film that is kind of a strange case study and doesn’t easily fit into the typical film categories.
‘Party Monster’ is a good movie if you are not a homophobe and can deal with extreme effeminacy. Marilyn Manson stars in it and McCaully Caulkan and Seth Green are great. Lots of drugs and cool crazy makeup/costumes. I like androgyny and drugs so the film works for me on many levels and I think it does a good job chronicling the early rave scene.
‘Helter Skelter’ is a great portrayal of the aftermath of the Manson murders, the trial etc. Very realistic and the acting is convincing.
Gacy is perhaps the best serial killer film I’ve ever seen if you’re looking for something realistic. No bullshit or hollywood crap. Just straight up realistic portrayal of the events and the main guy playing Gacy is totally believable. The kind of understated film that really does justice to the events. Recommended if you’re into John Wayne Gacy.
Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield on the other hand is a god awful piece of shit low budget joke that isn’t even redeemed by laughability factor because it is just dull and shitty. Nothing redeeming about it. Do not watch this film.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation is notable because it stars Renee Zellweger aka the annoying puffy faced bitch and Matthew McConaughey who is hot and has an amazing ass in those tight pants he’s wearing in the film(fuck off). It’s a weird take on the whole thing. Pretty shitty as a whole but with the interesting twist of a drag queen Leatherface with a mullet and some weird FBI shit at the end that is sort of intriguing.
Films I want to see:
I’ve been meaning to track down ‘Charlie’s Family’, the one that download did the soundtrack for because I like download and I like Charles Manson and I like about half of the soundtrack. It holds a special place for me because it was my first download album. I’ve heard the film is mediocre.
‘Salo’

He’s not

I think the mood/atmosphere was the main thing about the strangers… Story could have been even more shitty and the feeling the movie gives you still would make it good…BTW, your x/gf sounds like a fuckinbg 'tard.
‘The Crow 3’ (starring Edward Furlong as the Crow) has the distinction of being possibly the most hilarious and worst movie ever made.
really? “starring edward furlong?” that sounds like a bad snl skit!
‘Hellraiser’ is criminally overrated as a horror film. Horrible acting, complete cheese saved only by the special effects (which probably looked cool at the time but are shit now so there really is no redeeming factor).
Oh bite your tongue!!! Pinhead and the original cenobites have got to be the greatest horror movie villians ever! Doug Bradley is visually stunning as well evil sounding with out being campy! btw they’re remaking it, I think mostly to update the special effects…
speaking of remakes I’ve read that they’re going to remake Nightmare On Elm Street with Billy Bob Thornton as Krueger!!! Blech!! Robert Englund is the only Krueger!! They may as well remake Star Wars with Tom Sellek, or Christopher Walken as Han Solo!!
Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield on the other hand is a god awful piece of shit low budget joke that isn’t even redeemed by laughability factor because it is just dull and shitty. Nothing redeeming about it. Do not watch this film.
agreed
‘Salo’
If you’re trusting enough to send your address (or have a P.O. box) to my PM I’ll send you a copy… beware though this movie will haunt you for several days!

The vagina dentate myth is actually popular enough:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagina_dentata
A rather unsavoury myth nonetheless… ouch!
‘There Will Be Blood’ and ‘Mulholland Drive’ are indeed excellent, 2 of the best of this decade.
I had the great displeasure of watching a shitty british porno the other night called ‘Washout’ or ‘Wipeout’ or something. It was basically just a load of ugly British girls (bar 1 or 2) pissing on each other for an hour. There was one woman who had the sloppiest, loosest vagina I’ve ever seen. It was disgusting. Turned me off sex for about, oh, a few hours.

lol that’s fucking hilarious! I can’t wait to get my copy of Salo in the mail! It seems an appropriately creepy way to acquire the film.
Also I forgot to add 'El Topo to my list of things I want to see. Has anyone seen this movie?
Edward Furlong is a crap actor, I did like him in American History X though. I lauphed when his brother got prison raped in the shower lol. I know I’m mean.
