[reply]Yeah, people that want this right away should start jockeying now, because with such a price tag I can’t imagine any shop ordering more than one or two. That being said, I really don’t think it will be sold out fast and I suspect it would be available direct pretty soon after.
My guess is the bulk of these will be going to places where this stuff sells, like Chicago. I have a few record stores nearby in downtown Columbus and I can almost guarantee that one store will get one copy.
As much as I love this early stuff, I doubt this one is going to fly off the shelves. Most Ministry fans are only mildly interested in the Sire/Warner catalog. In the year 2015, all the hardcore fans are us prongers. I could be wrong.[/reply]
you’re right. I have been watching/listening to a lot of Ministry stuff from 81-84 on youtube the past few days and reading the comments, and it’s pretty interesting to see how many fans there are of that material. enough to sell out this RSD release? certainly not.
If they would have made it just one or two vinyl LP’s of UNRELEASED STUFF with a cool packaging and priced it at $30-$50, they could probably sell a buttload of them. Anything that ever tops that $100 tag, regardless of how cool it is, becomes a bit of a stumbling block for even the hardest core of hard corest hardcore fans.
$175? Uhhhh, no.
Is is a cool set? Sure. But any FAN who would be interested in it would already have everything except the unreleased material, so it’s a bit of a buttrape for even the most dedicated of completists.

Sure, without a doubt. If I would have known this set was coming, I would have held off on buying the 12" singles re-issue.
Being the fanatic that I am, I think the book, LP and unreleased tracks are worth the price. Also, I never owned the live Revco album and my Side Trax CD is the crappy mono version.
But yeah, I have no doubts that Cleo will release all of this content again.
If someone at Criminal holds this for you, that’d be spectacular fodder against the DB that is on the RSD ‘board’ who attacks anyone for doing such things. Please please let me know if this happens.

Are you talking to me? I don’t know anybody at Criminal.
I used to know an employee at Wax N Facts, but she’s not there anymore. The shop down the street from me is Mojo Vinyl, and is unlikely to get a copy, but I’m going to go down there and ask.

Not specifically, it’s just info I would love to have in my arsenal.
It would have to be a “yes I went to Criminal and ‘x’ had held me a RSD title” vs. “I heard that someone went to Criminal and had a title for RSD held for them”.
Nearly everything on Record Store Day sells out fast. Kids line up outside the stores before they open and buy whatever they can grab to put on eBay.
This is not my experience at all. Some releases sell out, but I’ve seen tons of RSD stuff get produced in way too high of quantities that sits around in record stores for months after the day, gets marked down, and is sometimes even still there by the time the next RSD rolls around. I’m pretty sure I could go to my local record store today and find a few RSD 2014 releases, if I wanted to.
Absolutely no way I’ll be buying this - instead I’ll hold out for the inevitable later official release of the rarities.
Maybe I’m being a bit negative, but some tracks seem a bit odd to me… first up, there’s an ‘extended mix’ of Get Down. Presumably then this set includes the original LP edit as the main version, and the full CD version as an extra.
I looked up the Sounds thing for the Don’t Stand In Line remix, not having heard of it before. Is this a proper remix? Nothing is credited on Discogs. Presumably someone has heard it before and knows.
Finally, it’s strange that a Razormaid remix is included - being kind of unofficial. Discogs again credits this as the original ‘1,000 homo DJs’ track, so presumably Al wasn’t keen on it back in the day.
Regardless, it’s still really fortunate that we’re getting all this old stuff. Who would’ve thought it? Just really hope that no one who splashes out for this box is left disappointed.
I’m imagining a vegan Wax Trax! fan who is sad now that they can’t buy this.
My vegan friend sent me the rsd link about the box. I’m also vegan. I think it would be more of an issue if i actually wanted the box, but I don’t. Just that book…
Also missing are “So-So Life” “Do You Even Like It?” and “Ricky’s Hand (Fad Gadget Cover)”. These were performed live in 1983-1984, but all known recordings are not in the best of quality.

‘The Eyes Of Christ’ is also missing.[/reply]
As is “Thrill Kill Kult”[/reply]
Good call there. Those tracks are from 87, so they technically fall under the Sire era and not Wax Trax, but this set does include an unreleased 87 track and a Twitch demo, so… who knows??
Dancing Alone
^ These are all from the same live show, and also the earliest known Ministry live recording. My guess is Cleo has a special release planned for this.
So So Life
Do You Even Like It?
Ricky’s Hand (a Fad Gadget cover. I wonder if this is a rights issue, they did get the rights for Same Old Scene, which is by Roxy Music)
Thrill Kill Kult (Frankie re-used the lyrics and Paul re-used the music, so that probably rules this one out)
The Eyes of Christ
There are also three unreleased tracks, confirmed by early band members:
11. Hardman-1982
12. Oceanside Away-1984
13. Harmonica Song-1984
Also, since Cleo is releasing the With Sympathy demos, do they now have the rights to that album? Or are they able to get away with it since it is a limited release?
