Maybe we should all do a bunch of Acid and watch “Serbian Film” together.
i’d rather gouge my eyes out.
i do kind of what to see the film, though :P. maybe with a date? yeah, that sounds like a good plan. get to mood going ;).

But I think at some point most of us ask “why am I putting that in my head” and realize that there’s someone on the other end of all of it.
It really goes back to the “cannot unsee” factor for me these days. There are some images that I’ve put in my brain in the past that I would be find having never seen. Nowadays I can at least discern (especially if a warning is given before I may accidentally click on something) that watching something or clicking on a link is a bad idea.
Even the “everyone’s seen it” stuff . . . “Pain Olympics”, “Nick Berg Decapitation”, “2 Girls 1 Cup”. I’m quite alright not watching this stuff.
I know what it is, I know it will be unpleasant, I know it’ll haunt me. Fortunately, I have a little more self-control than I used to.

Nothing like watching infant rape together, to encourage a little under-the-blanket first date snuggling.

ugh, i can’t stand to watch any of those real videos. they’re fucking disgusting. i can’t even believe they’re on the internet. i could watch horror movies (probably a serbian film included) because i KNOW it’s fake.
i remember my friends putting on the beheading video, i literally only HEARD a second of it, and i felt sick to my stomach.

Sounds for me are more terrifying and wrenching than images, to be honest. When there’s some “Fail” vid or something where I know the dude is gonna get rocked in bike accident, stupid stunt gone bad, etc., I’m usually okay watching it with the sound off (or if there’s some cheesy musical overdub), but the sounds of bones snapping, people screaming, moaning, etc. is just horrible.
I don’t really watch any modern horror stuff these days. But I guess I’m kind of like you in that, when it’s over-the-top in its brutality or gore or ruthlessness I always tell myself, “Just a movie. No one got hurt.” But yeah, how someone can enjoy at any level the gross “real” death/torture/snuff, etc. – it’s a little hard to understand.
Please let us know if you do end up watching the “Serbian Film”. I’d be curious to get another viewer’s perspective on it.
The IMDB reviews are really polarized. The average is about 5/10 but that’s because most people rate it at either 0 or 1 star or 9-10 stars. Not a whole lot of lukewarm reactions or mediocre reviews.
Maybe we should all do a bunch of Acid and watch “Serbian Film” together.
I can see The Sun’s headline now:
SICK INTERNET MUSIC MOVIE CULT FOUND DEAD IN BIZARRE GROUP MURDER/SUICIDE
2 things I will never do again:
1)Take acid
2)watch Serbian Film again
Imagining the two in tandem just makes me shudder…
Whenever talking about a film like this there are always those internet tough guys who say shit like"oh,it didn’t bother me at all" or “it was no big deal” etc etc…dude,if you aren’t disturbed on some level by this film(even though yes we all realize it is just a movie)…if there isn’t some iota of this film that bothers you than it is more chilling and terrifying than anything else to know you are walking on the street…like I said I’ve been watching exteme cinema of all varieties since the mid 80s and this without a doubt takes the cake as the single most fucked up film I have ever seen…
Serbian Film sounds worse than Antichrist. Antichrist is probably the most fuckd up thing I’ve ever seen. But this Antichrist sounds more well done than Serb
In my plonkin’ around on the 'net regarding this “Serbian Film” I came across a few references to “Antichrist”, and they are all in the vein of “more f***ed up than Antichrist”. When I then took a peek at the details on Antichrist, people seemed, at the time to think that it set a new level of shock.
I’ve yet to find ANY entry or review that discounts the extremity of “Serbian Film”. It really does seem to be the current gold-standard in shocking, brutal, extreme horror. That’s not to say it has any redeeming value or anything, I’m just saying if someone’s looking for “the most f***ed up movie” they can find, this one seems to be it.
How that many people could all be on board with this and do it either with a clean conscience or because a few bucks in their pockets will clean that conscience for them is just nauseating to me.
you’re kinda making the writer’s/director’s case for him
a man that is exploited to the extreme in the name of securing the survival of his family.
Apparently that many people need to scrape out a living for their family which would allow them to participate in something like this.
It really goes back to the “cannot unsee” factor for me these days. There are some images that I’ve put in my brain in the past that I would be fine having never seen.
for me it was the church of euthanasia . com which later lead me to check out the gore gallery . com which later became rotten . com I think. I haven’t been back there in some 15 years. yeah those images were burned into my brain and scarred me for days and weeks.
Nowadays I can at least discern (especially if a warning is given before I may accidentally click on something) that watching something or clicking on a link is a bad idea.
Yeah me too. somebody on here posted the link to 2 kids and a hammer or something like that. I clicked the link only to see some Ukrainian kids about to bash some dudes skull open with a rock, I clicked the link off. can’t unsee that! it may have been a while ago but I still learned my lesson
Even the “everyone’s seen it” stuff . . . “Pain Olympics”, “Nick Berg Decapitation”, “2 Girls 1 Cup”. I’m quite alright not watching this stuff.
I’m ok with self mutilation so I’ve seen the 2 girls vid, it’s pretty wretched although the diarrhea looks like the ice cream that it is although the puke is obviously real and the pain olympics looks real enough, even though I know it’s fake.
but at the risk of starting another thread derailment I will go on record saying that nick berg beheading is fake for 3 reasons. I watched it because I was already conspiracy minded towards W at that point and wanted to prove to myself that this was just a propaganda film.
#1 barely any blood. they’re severing the jugular a major artery and yet there’s barely any bleeding.
#2 the guy does not struggle at all. you’d figure even the survive at all costs instinct would’ve kicked in and he would’ve tried to at least move his head.
#3 and the most convincing detail as far as I’m concerned, the camera actually pans away during the money shot. really?! why would this happen? the camera appears to be on a tripod which means they intentionally moved the camera, to what, take it easy on the west’s delicate psyches?
now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that dude isn’t dead or didn’t die but that whole beheading thing is bullshit, maybe they beheaded an already dead corpse which would explain the lack of blood, the heart isn’t pumping so no blood to squirt, the guys already dead so that’s why no fighting back to survive, still doesn’t explain why the camera pans off though.

A friend of mine had Serbian Film, could only stand to watch a couple of minutes before I felt like regurgitating what I had previously eaten. Fked up film, and if you watched and didnt feel repulsed…go visit your shrink.
[responding to Grumpy with respect to the Nick Berg video]
I can’t evaluate the specifics as I’ve not seen the whole video, but I will give my critique of your conspiracy theory as a general sympton of people’s jadedness.
This kind of goes back to some debate/discussions that you and I were having along with Rustyhacksaw regarding old horror and new horror. So many of the younger generation these days have just had so much silly over-the-top gore and blood and guts served to them on a silver platter that I don’t think they have a good bearing on what reality and true shock even is anymore.
A few years back I watched a video (it has been pulled off most places and I’m not sure if anyone has it anymore) of a deranged Bjork stalker-fan who went on a rant and then shot himself in the head, killing himself.
It was as real as real could be, and yet so many of the top comments were about how fake it was and there wasn’t enough blood, etc. etc.
We have access to so much imagery and footage of just about everything in the world now . . . add to this our ability to make extremely realistic special effects and Hollywood’s tendency to make things more bloody or outrageous than they may in truth be and you end up with youth that are both jaded and also skewed in their perception of reality.
They’ve “already seen it all” and feel they know everything about what death and violence and torture and stuff should look like, and yet, it’s a fallacy. They’ve created a really effed up sense of awareness based on the stuff that they’ve been spoon fed by other morons and sickos.
Unless someone is a CSI detective or an ER surgeon or something, I really can’t stand to listen to them tell me “This is what it WOULD look like if . . .”
If the Nick Berg thing was a fake, I GUARANTEE you it would have already been exposed as such. It would have brought a bit of peace to his family if nothing else.
As awful as “Serbian Film” may be, it’s gotten a much better reception than “Bucky Larson”.

I kind of want to watch A Serbian Film just to see how much of it I can get through. I consider myself rather desensitized, but given what I’ve read about it I’m guessing I could get 20 minutes in.
As I was clicking through some of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes I noted there area a number of censored cuts of this film depending on what country/ region it was released.
The original cut is 104 minutes, and there are 10 minutes or more taken out of a number of the various edits.
I’m not saying that makes it lightweight or anything, but it does make the topic more interesting to me as I want to know now what was removed for the various cuts. I’m also curious if anyone here sees the movie and let’s us know more . . . . please, if possible, let us know what version you saw.

I saw the original 104 min cut…never saw the edited version so really can’t compare…
I admit to laughing at some of Bucky Larson…don"t know what that says about me but hey, there it is…

I’ve never seen it.
I LOVED Nick Swardson’s part in “Grandma’s Boy” and “Gay Robot” and I even bought his stand up comedy album, called “PARTY”, about 4-5 years back and I LOVE it.
Then, he got his own sketch comedy show on Comedy Central. I can’t remember the name exactly. I think it was something like “Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time”. It was really disappointing. A couple hits here and there, but not enough to hold my interest to watch the show more than a couple forced times.
He really carved himself into a block of notoriety, I guess, with this stupid “Bucky Larson” film (the ads were enough to make me stay away).
He just seemed so hilarious when I first discovered him, but maybe he peeked and just can’t get back his mojo. I don’t know.

All right, let’s just speculate for the sake of science. If you were to take out what you felt to be the most awful 10 minutes of footage, do you think it would have made it any less of a repugnant creation (not in a quantitative sense, because obviously that’s 10 minutes less of wretch you would have to endure, but as an overall performance and art piece with a supposed message)?

No not at all…they would have to take out at least 100 minutes for me not to be completely repulsed…
Kind of what I thought based on KnifeParty’s comment, but just curious.
As you’d mentioned the movie “Martyrs” and I saw it referenced in a few things I was flipping through I looked it up . . . . .
Check out what it says in the top paragraph, hahaha!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martyrs_(film)
Oh yeah man it’s a totally overhyped film by folk who have never seen much art house before…so naturally when Hollywood does their version of an art house film the people that grew up on Hollywood films scream about how great & unique it is.
FINALLY!!!
thankyou.
