Just saw it. Everyone always told me it was hella fucked up. Just because something is fucked up doesn’t mean it’s gonna be good. The same fucking music plays throughout the whole thing and the ending was very anit climactic. And to be honest, I was expecting worse on the fucked up scale.
Oh yeah man it’s a totally overhyped film by folk who have never seen much art house before…so naturally when Hollywood does their version of an art house film the people that grew up on Hollywood films scream about how great & unique it is.
Bad Boy Bubby…that’s a fucked up film. AND it kicks major ass!!!
I didn’t like it either for a lot of reasons.
I only saw it once (as a teen) but remember not being too impressed by it, though I did think Ellen Burstyn did a good job (and I like Jennifer Connelly, even though she plays a skank in it). I also recall an ex gf loving it so by virtue of that fact it likely meant it was not that good (I swear I’m not bitter [laugh])
It is a “cool fucked up” movie as opposed to a REAL fucked up movie like ‘Trash Humpers’ or the like. ‘Poseur fucked up’ of ‘fucked up lite’ that teenage girls will love but you need to go deeper… just like J Connelly did at the end of RFAD which I know Eureka Pile meant to say was very anal climactic.
i saw it when i was like 13-14, so yeah, it was definitely fucking weird. i don’t like watching it. makes me depressed :P. you should check out “a scanner darkly”. awesome movie.
Scanner Darkly is great…not as great as the book but still one of the more faithful adapatations of a Philip K Dick novel…
Requiem for a Dream is a movie I just can’t stand…
I’ve never seen Requiem. It’s basically a junkie/ degradation flick, right? From other people’s discussions about it, it sounded to me like KIDS with . . . well, slightly older kids.
I’m a fan of the genre, though. “Rush”, “Drugstore Cowboy”, “Sid and Nancy”, “Leaving Las Vegas”, “Colors”. All these movies where people get junked out on something or other and do a bunch of bad things and basically toss their lives away. I don’t know, it’s just kind of sexy.
“A Scanner Darkly” – I’ve not yet had the chance to watch this one as a whole, but based on the bit I saw a few years back it looks amazing, which is saying something because i generally lose interest as soon as a movie has some weird cartoon, computer animation, or weird color/B&W thing. It has an amazingly dark and disorienting feel to it which i thought was just excellent. Plus Keanu, hellz yeah!
I’ll try to check out both of these movies if I can find them for cheap.

DON’T EVER watch Serbian Film…I’ve watched extreme cinema my entire life…it is without a doubt the most depraved nightmarish shit I’ve ever seen and that includes stuff like Salo,Behind the Sun,the Gasper Noe films,Martyrs,Visitor Q and so forth…let me be the sacrifice…nothing good can come from watching Serbian Film…I felt physically ill and depressed after watching it…once you see it you can’t unsee it…I wish I hadn’t…
