New Nine Inch Nails coming

It’s okay. I thought the stupid picture of the chick in the gas mask that inverts and goes back and forth was stupid and looked cheap. The rest is typical of the director. If you don’t like his stuff you probably won’t like this.

The lighting bolt things were kinda lame too. I don’t know… it’s not terrible but it’s not as good as I’d have hoped. A bit more like his earlier videos I suppose in that there’s no band in it and it’s just seizure inducing cuts with blurred images of TR singing certain parts.

So you are “christ himself” from that forum.
That explains so much. It really does.
Late,

It’s not some secret I’m trying to hide. Most people know. Be careful. I might be the cause of missing persons on here though. I’m that fucking talented.

the video didnt induce any seizures for me but yes it was underwhelming for sure.

ok so what if its weird. it’s kinda lame.

i liked this “audio” version where there’s only like a reel-to-reel tape recorder playing that track much better XD

yeah its like they were trying to do some old shit that is now dated as hell, like the stupid effects and filters on ministry’s “in case” video, but with modern tech it’s just looks kind of wrong.

This will always be the official video for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-eBJJt1Ob0

The one who started the lame insults was you. You expect everyone to respect your opinion, and when you don’t get your way? Throw a temper tantrum, just like a little kid, even its absurd conspiray theories. It got old on the PA, why do you think everyone left christ himself? You take the fun out of everything, by making it all be the same.

I had a feeling you were another pathetic e-stalker. I suppose that’s why you’re so paranoid about me obtaining “information that will compromise [your] identity and others”. Since you clearly have been on my nuts for some time now you obviously are aware that I do not care about people’s personal info and never have.

I don’t expect anyone to respect my opinion.

Temper tantrum? You’re the one whining about me and how mean I am. Making up shit that never happened about a forum that’s been dead for quite a while now.

And it’s conspiracy… con-spir-acy. Not that it matters because nothing I’ve stated is a conspiracy theory. You though… you seem pretty paranoid that I’m conspiring some “social engineering attack”. Take off the tin-foil and get a life.[/reply]

I have a life. It’s why I post on my days off. You on the other hand? Not so much. Now if you’ll excuse me as I go back to lurking on here and posting once in a rare while.

Although I like the song, I couldn’t get through the whole video. Too much!

Here’s my reaction to the video:

yeah that was disappointing

I’ve seen far worse.

Agreed. It looks like an animated GIF, and the gas mask thing has been done to death (especially in Industrial music), and is completely irrelevant in this context.

I like Lynch’s stuff. I enjoyed the weird faces and the lipstick/pale look for Trent was cool. Interesting camera techniques.

Still it seemed kind of phoned in. Typical Lynch-isms.

The lighting bolt things were kinda lame too.

There was a lot of After Effects-ish stuff going on here…seemed like they didn’t get enough real footage and had to compensate.

I guess overall I maybe wanted more of a narrative to the video. The song seems to be about a relapse into drugs or alcohol and he comes back “haunted”.

I don’t see wtf that has to do with gas mask girl, lightning bolts, and seizure animations.

Either way seemed low budget and half assed for a project involving these two big names. I don’t blame Trent, I blame Lynch. Trent clearly just did whatever he was told and respected Lynch’s vision.

Maybe Trent didn’t pay him enough.

I agree. The video is simply lacking. I was expecting something along the lines of Lynch’s The Alphabet, stop motion creepiness, etc.

Surprised no one’s brought up the debut of two new songs last weekend:

“Copy of A” with a modified “Sanctified” (first time played live since '96)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raqWfu5WlgU

“Find My Way”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-XhLkr8RbU

To chime in my thoughts, the first one is stunning. Reznor is someone who’s guilty of copying off his own templates (see the similarities between Wish/Mr.Self Destruct/1,000,000 etc) and this song is very welcome in its structure. His voice is in magnificent fucking form for pushing 50 too – sounds less gruff and phlegmy than recent tours and i’m a sucker for those nasal accents he puts on the chorus. Gives it that pissy venom of his best work without coming across as immature moaning.

Second new song is growing. Sounds more like his soundtrack work with vocals as an afterthought. Liking the build-up that closes it.

Full Show. (Audio ripped from YouTube 720p stream and converted to 192 mp3. The stream audio was lossy to begin with.)

He looks like an elf in the first video.

Nothing ground breaking but Copy of A is fun and the new version of Sanctified And is cool too.

Sound an visuals are very good as always.

Thanks Gila.

I’m liking them. The first one had a nice poppy vibe to it, while the second definitely reflected his soundtrack/ghosts stuff. And I kinda got a Kraftwerk vibe from them too. A little more hopeful now towards the new album.

He does look like an elf ! A musclebound asskickin’ WWE elf !

I thought “Copy of A” was ok. Expectations are lowered for this release, sounds he’s stuck in that dancey ‘The Slip’ sound. Not horrible but not amazing…Probably grower tracks especially live…

“Find My Way” sounds like “Even Deeper” from ‘The Fragile’…zzzzzzzz…nice ambience at the end. Reminds me of How to Destroy Angels. His sound is getting kind of inbred but I supposer that’s what always happens to bands over the years that self-produce…

“Sanctified” sounded really weird I didn’t like the adaptation.

My reaction to the video:

<watches video>

<contemplates for 2 - 3 minutes>

<takes sip of coffee>

<makes mental note to make witty, sarcastic comment deriding more or less everything Trent has ever done at a later date>

<goes back to looking at nude latina bitches>

I really like “Copy of A”, I think it’s flat to great. The track is a bit fine, the melody line for the vocals is repetitive, but I suspect properly mixed it may sound quite cool.

There’s another new track from tonight’s show up, called “Dissapointed” but the only YouTube upload I found had absolutely shit sound so imma wait a few days for a better upload before giving an opinion.
