As someone there said - NO respectable band (especially one with the reputation/legendary status that Ministry has/had) should go out on a covers album.
And it’s also ridiculous to think that they will be rereleasing the cover of ‘Roadhouse Blues’ on their last album only six months after their official ‘last album’.
This serves no other purpose than a quick grab for cash - it’s pathetic and reeks of a ‘total cop out’!!
can’t believe ogre would attach himself to this. he has his shit in the right place.
that “mrs. jay” post about ogre introducing her to al. that’s a good one. she was one of the legions trying to get into al’s pants when he was married to the original “Mrs. Jay”.she appeared and re-appeared when patti went home to their kid.
that’s canadian speak for “trying to get a life through someone else’s notoriety.”(through the um, backdoor entry)
call it an introduction or a booty…oh what’s the word
If I were ogre, I wouldn’t. But there’s that “friendly loyalty”, probably. And mrs. jay only said “al would love to work with ogre”. Doesn’t mean ogre is, it’s the fact that they’re open. He may not even do it. And i’ll bet you now, if he did it would probably be smothered hope; I can’t picture ogre fitting in with current ministry, at all.
What cover is it, exactly, that Ogre is supposed to be showing interest in?
Light Pours Out of Me, although I hadn’t read that he’s shown no interest in doing it. He did perform it live with Al, so I’m not understanding where you’re getting the idea that he wants no part of it.
Personally, I’m not interested in a covers album. This type of material should be released under the moniker of Revco or some other type of sideproject.
while ohgr has come up here… i pulled out my old burning inside 12" and re-listened to smothered hope. and i have to say - i think that (live) track is overdubbed. anyone else care to pull out their copy and listen? i’d love other opinions on this.
i think that too, because orge never sang that song live that “clean”, judging from several '90 boots.
besides, al overdubbed his vox over connelly’s on icydflsu’s “so what”!
cool, i did not know about the chris overdub.
another reason i say that about smothered hope is that ohgr’s “guitar” is DEAD-ON on the track - but on the video buisquit hooked me (and us) up with, he plays kinda “lazily” (if that’s a word). anyone else have any input?
he “plays” it (notice the quotes) on some other songs though. i think he just mimicked the playing or his guitar was low in his touring with ministry.
i mean, the song is “the missing”, right? and what do i see? paul plays right bass notes, al and bill play the right powerchords and orge just “strums” the string while holding the hand somewhere in the beginning of the neck. well maybe he played one powerchord, but fuck me, i can’t hear it.

DAMNIT! i haven’t played it today - that statement was from memory. shit. well hell - there’s two guitars on that track. sooo…
I don’t hear enough evidence to convince me that it’s an overdub. I would think the vox would sit higher in the mix if it was re-recorded. Maybe they just nailed a good live version, and that’s why it made the 12".

Al should go back to his pseudo-goth roots and cover something like Red Lorry Yellow Lorry or Corpus Delicti.
Or keep saving the excellent covers for RevCo… Every cover they do kicks ass… with Ministry, it’s a little more hit or miss.
