MINISTRY's Final Release Will Be An All-Covers Record

Korn are working on one too :

I can’t believe Korn are still going. I still like the first few albums (I was 16 when they were started to get huge, give me a break [laugh])
Havn’t heard much at all of the newer stuff, I listened to Untouchables once or twice and went ‘eh, whatever’.
That twisted transitor song a year or two back was ok, didn’t hear anything else from that album though.

I walked into JB the other day, and saw their new album. Have heard nothing off it, not sure if I want to. Actually they have been releasing a bit recently… I’ve seen “rarities + b-side” comps, and best-ofs and acoustic cds in the last few years… wonder how they sell, I still see kids wearing their shirts, about the same age as I was when I still wore a Korn shirt, haha.

Covers eh… they do Another Brick in the Wall? Hmm… dunno about that. I didn’t mind Word Up and their cover of One was ok.

Omg, just checked that WIKI page, they want to cover Head Like A Hole… hahaha… oh dear… I can’t imagine that at all,

their version of Another brick in the wall is one of the worst cover ever recorded even before Marylin Manson’s tainted love…[/reply]

That was a heinous piece of audio all right.

The only people that had my permission to cover “Head Like a Hole” were Devo, and they did alright by it.

haha, I think I heard that Devo cover… was ok from memory, but I really can’t remember it at the moment.

Still bitter that I missed out on HLAH as the encore for the show I went to because some fuck-knuckle heckled Trent and he cracked the shits.

Pig did a lounge version of HLAH that’s amusing the first two times you listen to it.

i’m inclined to agree.
i recall an aborted mission with several revco/ministry band members in tow to a metallica show in chicago, which by the way sucked and everyone ended up in the corridor.pissing and moaning about how dumb it was to be there in the first place

Dude, did you post that in the right place?

The only people that had my permission to cover “Head Like a Hole” were Devo, and they did alright by it.

haha honestly one of my favorite covers of anything EVER…

ah damn, wish ministry would cover cooler songs… will probably buy last sucker, but will most likely pass on this one. although id love to heard an ogre-style recording of Light Pours Out Of Me.

also interested in what wayne on tony have to offer since static-x is officially cool again (asian dude is back on guitars, no tripp writing shitty lyrics & lame guitar shiz). saw them at ozzfest (static-x, ozzy kinda, and lamb of god were the only enjoyable bands) and they were pretty damn good, theyre new shit is not as cool as WDT or Machine, but theyre kind of underrated or looked over. waynes vox on that SP song sucked though, he needs to not sing melodically… ever.

the recording of the original version of Noreen/The fall with Ogre on vocals would be killer

MINISTRY’S COVERS ALBUM

Al Jourgensen gave us an exclusive: The scoop on “Cover Up,” an all-covers album due out April 2008 featuring the band and co-conspirators.
“It’s just demented cover versions by demented people for demented times,” says Jourgensen, calling it a “fun record” to contrast with the political heaviness of “The Last Sucker.” Here’s the track list in no specific order.

“Supernaut” – orig. Black Sabbath
“Lay Lady Lay” – Bob Dylan
“Roadhouse Blues” – The Doors
“Black Betty” – Ram Jam/Led Belly
“Space Truckin’” – Deep Purple
“Under My Thumb” – The Rolling Stones
"She’s So Heavy – The Beatles
“Just Got Paid” – ZZ Top
“Slow Ride” – Foghat
“Radar Love” – Golden Earring
“Baby Blue” – Van Morrison
"Mississippi Queen – Mountain
“It’s a Wonderful World” – Louie Armstrong

“Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?”

Seriously, it’s like I’ve been transported to some sort of bizarro Ministry universe. To whoever bought Al’s Fairlight on eBay last year, please drop that thing off at his ranch, and tell him to ‘snap out of it man’! [:P]

The worst part is that at least a couple of those cover songs have a better chance of making the live set than anything pre-LORAH. That’s alright, I’ll be going to the show with the attitude that I’ll be shocked if I hear more than one LORAH song, and completely stunned if he goes back earlier than that. It’s a realistic approach in my mind.

1002

Not sure what to think or say about the armstrong cover. Think I might be scared to hear that. But I feel like I have to, just to see how badly Al screws it up or just in general, what he does with it.

Joey Ramone beat him to it.

And did a great job, to boot.

Ah… so more tracks added, interesting.

Surely they will play Stigmata again, seems to be staple track. I’m sure as usual I wont even get to see them play, if your reading MrsJay, come to Australia, geez, it’s been more than 10 years!

MINISTRY’S COVERS ALBUM

“It’s just demented cover versions by demented people for demented times,”

Wow!! A covers album. A ‘demented’ covers album! Does that mean you’ll play out of tune and sing in a silly voice? Will you be drinkin’, shootin and smokin’ during the recording sessions? How kerrazy!!!

Question is, will it sound anything like the last Def Leppard covers album? I’m guessing the answer will be a big, fat YES!!

…to contrast with the political heaviness of “The Last Sucker.”

Political heaviness! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!

The Last Sucker makes Bono seem profound. Hell, The Last Sucker makes Sum 41 seem profound!!

Hey Al, I hear My Chemical Romance hate the prez too!! Ditto Tori Amos. Looks like yr not alone in this buddy.

Coming soon to the spoken word/comedy section of yr local rekkid store soon!!

Why didn’t they cover Gary Myrick back then? Lack of inspiration.

I don’t know who that is. I will take a moment to laugh at the phrase “Ministry’s Final Release”, though.

There were only about 27 more albums and remixxxes and Christmas singles put out after this one. Give or take a hundred.

Yes, but at least with FBTE we all know it will actually be the last. For serious this time.

Inspired by this goofy “farewell album” (lolol), I was meaning some time ago to start a thread on “Covers You Would Actually LIKE To Hear,” either by Ministry or anyone else.

So, this might be a good place to let that idea finally take flight.

And sorry Peligro you only get to suggest one Whitehouse cover per post.

Until we get the REMIXXX album…
