Ministry Tour rescheduled again...no KMDFM

I’m just layin’ this out there, but I would totally go see a lineup that had Ministry headlining with Spice Girls and Alanis opening. Just to watch the fans interact, I guess. Can you imagine that crowd?

Jesus, Ministry sucks.

That sounds scummy as hell. Like now, makes me just want to go for COC/Melvins and just walk out after that. Guess see if the setlist is decent or trash or whatever else.

Not holding my breath. Tour went from exciting and cool to, whatever.

Hahaha, I’m with you on this one! Not only would it be funny mixed-up crowd, but it would also mean you could interact with someone other than guy aged between 35-55 who doesn’t like Ministry anymore but comes to the shows anyway to complain. Maybe one could even strike up a conversation with a (gasp) female concert goer? Unheard of!

I’m so disappointed I won’t be able to complain that FLA deserves and longer set and KMFDM isn’t the same without such-and-such members.

Man, this isn’t the Industrial Strength Tour anymore. I may cancel my tickets and just buy them the day of if I decide to go. This is a mess.

Those posters are hilarious REVCO. lol

It’s hilarious that people all over the Internet are crying about the tour being called ā€œIndustrial Strength Tourā€ when there’s not enough ā€œreal industrialā€ music on it.
The bands are literally listed on the poster (and will probably be changed out 8 more times anyway). And the headliner is Ministry, who at least at one time was considered industrial no matter how many 10,000 word essays are posted online about Al abandoning the rivetheads for those dirty heavy metal buttrockers.

Is there a threat of some dipshits buying tickets under false pretense because of the name, hoping to hear the latest Super Nintendo sound scratchings of Kokhammer 23 and Oxygenated Foreskin only to find that they’d been duped into coming to a Ministry concert that might have something resembling rock and roll? OH EMM GEE, THE HORROR!!!

If people want to see Frontbutt Assembly, Helmets, and all those other goofy bands, they should tell those bands to get their own gigs at the Eastvale Mall Food Court or Sierra Lanes Bowling Alley . . . or whatever venue can accommodate the 40 people who might actually give a shit. Don’t expect Al to carry them all under his wing for you.

Oh, and not to be linguistically anal, but the phrase ā€œindustrial strengthā€ has been around for 100+ years and used many times without respect to any silly music which came much later. You may as well get mad that they’re not passing out samples of Super Glue or Tide Detergent.

Please, everyone knows why this was called the ā€œIndustrial Strengthā€ tour and Al (or whoever’s managing him now) is just proving he doesn’t give a shit.
This is like if Van Halen had replaced Metallica and Scorpions on the Monsters of Rock tour in '88 with Phil Collins and Mister Mister. Yeah, it’s technically still ā€œrockā€ but it’s not what people expected when they bought their tickets.

I’m thinking this is mostly a management decision… maybe they looked at number of tickets sold, then thought oh my god, there’s literally only 10 people who wants to see our supporting acts and changed the line-up because they actually want to sell tickets. The ā€œindustrial Strengthā€ thing might have been comparable to ā€œMonsters Of Rockā€ if the original bill did feature some well-known/popular/good industrial bands, but FLA and KMFDM? Here’s their audience:

I’m fine with the delay because I’m not champing at the bit to go to concerts yet what with the Delta variant.

I’ve been to one show since shows came back and hardly anyone was wearing masks haha…I’m vaccinated so I just kind of winged it…luckily I didn’t get sick…

I was in that same boat. We saw the descendents and rise against… My wife and I are vaxxed but our kids are under 12 so not vaxxed. So we were wearing masks but there were a ton of people that were not.
My wife is trying to unload our Primus tickets now because she didn’t know it was gonna be a rush tribute when she bought the tix and they also moved the show to a sunday in october and based on nobody wearing masks at the last concert she’s just not feeling it.

Ha Primus was the show I was at…if you are a fan of Rush and that particular album its a mist go…they played it so precisely it was shocking…some of Les’ vocal choices at times were questionable but all in all it was almost an stunning note for note rendition…and of course they did their own set 1st and some encores…great show…

Are there any bands that are a) commonly considered ā€œindustrial,ā€ b) could realistically open for Ministry, and c) would be a bigger draw than FLA and KMFDM? I can’t really think of any.

No onei know irl is even remotely a fan of rush.

Maybe not, but if you turned the bill on the head and put Ministry on the bottom, with someone like NIN and Rob Zombie above, then it would be a valid comparison to the monsters of rock bill, which was my point. Monsters of rock was not Nazareth, Krokus and TNT, much like the big 4 of thrash was not Testament, Rigor Mortis, Forbidden & Uncle Slam.

edit: On a less tongue-in-cheek note, I would think 3TEETH would draw more attention than either FLA or KMFDM. They seem to be somewhat popular among younger industrial fans, plus they’ve gotten a lot of exposure supporting bigger bands recently like Tool and now Cradle Of Filth.

Huh I didn’t realize that 3Teeth had gotten as big as they have, I popped over to their Spotify plays and while their biggest hits seem to be covers, they still rake in plays - which is pretty great. I’ll give them another shot have t really listened since their first album.

That said, industrial as a genre is a much narrower band than industrial. And as mentioned unthread within ā€œindustrialā€ there are only so many big names and most of those names wouldn’t open for Al because they’re too big and also Al has burnt a lot of bridges. I guess Puppy could conceivably open and they’d be bigger than FLA and KMFDM, but I suspect getting them to share a stage with Al wouldn’t be easy.

At the end of the day, I’m a much bigger fan of FLA and KMFDM these days than Ministry. I actually think FLA have continued growing and evolving and they’re one of the few Wax Trax era bands that I find as interesting now as ever. Yeah their lyrics are cheesy, but that’s part of their charm for me. I also think KMFDM have done a good job of moving their sound forward and evolving their production standards. I don’t like all the post-Lucia albums but the ones I do like stand up there with my favorites from back in the day. I know others continue to enjoy what Ministry do and I wish I could say the same. Ive liked the random track here and there but I had trouble even making it all the way through their last album once. It’s all just individual taste and my taste skews away from metal and towards electronic.

Haha they are a polarizing band indeed…I’ve been a huge fan my whole life but I understand they are an acquired taste…them Canucks ain’t for everybody…
