Ministry: From Beer To Eternity. New album

Hey i just got ‘FIX’,afra dunno if you know you’re thanked in credits. And, Al and Paul’s relationship as it’s shown seems to be nothing like al made it to be, I imagined paul as a stick in the mud, but he seems to just go with the flow.Anyway ‘FIX this’ is with it but has no notes AT ALL i was wondering if any PIG fans noticed ‘h.habit’s’ similarity to ‘blades’?

i love both those songs, and they sound NOTHING alike. seriously, i have no idea how you even made that connection lol.

yeah, it was really nice to see al and paul together. i think that was my favorite part of the whole video. so cute <3.

@ grmpy:

No, I thought it was pretty funny that Username pulled off a cross-forum joke. If we knew each other better, you’d know my sense of humor.

Unfortunately, I can’t cite my source yet and so I understand that you’d all be suspect of anything I say. Just know this: I am not a troll. I wasn’t trying to rile anybody up. I’m just a lifelong Ministry geek who’s been disappointed with the recent direction of the band and got excited when I heard some new material.

And I’m not on the 13th Planet payroll either. Far from it.

I will post more when I can.

@ Gunnar:

Hello! Thanks!

@ Def:

My top 3 would be:

  1. Mind
  2. Rape and Honey
  3. Psalm

I know that’s probably cliché, but it’s true for me. And what kind of rotten bastard would float a fake setlist? Boo!

Point taken.

I can’t speak for the rest of these yokels but I understand. I’ve had to sit on some juicy bits before as well.

Awesome!

  2. Rape and Honey
  3. Psalm

actually a lot of peeps on here would identify with those top 3. Me? I’m the prongs stereotype.

1.Dark Side Of The Spoon
2. Filth Pig
3. The Mind.

And what kind of rotten bastard would float a fake setlist? Boo!

We’ve actually had a few “funny” bastards do that here.

Hope you Balance your time here. you seem alright.

Thanks, I think I will!

And again, I didn’t do this for praise or glory or for anyone to “swing from my utters”.[laugh]

Just a lucky fan that wanted to share. Ultimately, whether you agree with my assessment or not will have to wait until you hear the tracks for yourself.

I’ll reiterate my (admittedly vague) appraisal. It’s a surprising reversal of direction from Relapse. Take that for what you will.

I will give more details when I feel like it’s ok to do so.

I will give more details when I feel like it’s ok to do so.

Thanks for all the info. As someone who’s seen the camp in action, I can safely say that it will never be safe to do so. Prepare for the lawsuit threats

But welcome aboard.

Don’t worry Cripple, I don’t like DSotS either.

Sorry i would’ve went into more detail, but did’nt have time. yeah musically nothing alike, just the hook/chorus sound similar to me. Try it, sing the chorus from blades during the chorus of h. habit, i know blades is alot longer so maybe it’s just certain parts of it, i’ll have to listen to that song again it’s been a min.

BTW, acid_cripple can you tell us if the sound of the production has gotten any better? Even though it sounds like they over did it, i wish they’d go back to the sound of Dark Side/what about us

Welcome cripple. You got my hopes up!

The people on the Litany forum are MASSIVE vaginas. That said, thanks for the info. I am newly hopeful but remain skeptical.

I will, however, actually listen to and possibly buy this record in its entirety which would make it the first since ‘Rio Grande Blood’.

Well, that dub/reggae thing on the video sounded stupid.

If they’re doing electronica or whatever and it sounds like a piss take, I’ve little time for it.

But, if it resembles stuff like Dream Song, I’m excited.

Al’s still got it in him. You only have to listen to that Frontline Assembly song he worked on a little while back to hear that.

…and yet you’re the butt hurt one. “Nobody pays attention to my attention whoring over there! waa waa waa” every time Litany is mentioned here. mwuh. [crazy]

there, feel validated now champ?

I may be an attention whore but Litany is still by far the pussiest fan base I’ve encountered on any message board.

They ban people left and right for daring to say even the littlest critique of Skinny Puppy. (I’m actually a huge fan of the band–including their new work)

Ha Ha.
Void called out AGAIN!!
you’ve built quite a rep for yourself haven’t you, “champ?”

yeah, that’s a pretty good song, but i doubt he had anything to do with the music.

I rather liked it.

that’s actually bullshit right there. Nobody has been banned for saying bad things against Puppy. People have been banned for racism, pedo jokes etc, because we actually have standards of conduct and active Mods. Sorry we actually still like the band the forum was created for, and we like lively and usually sarcastic discussion, I figure someone from NYC would be down but I guess not. You sir are the one with sand in your vagina. We’re actually quite easy going and like family there. There are good times and bad. This was all fun and games jokes until YOU started again with the insults.

Anyway Acid is a cool guy, we don’t always see eye to eye as he’s more about the metal, but he has ins with the Ministry camp and I think Al must be bored by now of the repetition since Paul left… isn’t that one of his main beefs about working with Paul? “like being married to the same person the sex gets boring” etc? hopefully he’ll switch it up as Acid has alluded to and also add some bass… I like the reggae-esque track, it was different (like At The Top) and I’m hoping that someone works on lyrics with him like the old days of Ogre and Connelly… just people who are great lyricists and are well read with ideas.

You sir are the one with sand in your vagina.

this totally made me laugh. sirs don’t have vaginas.

??? Whaaaaa??? Void is totally the picked on kid here. That’s almost unbelievable that he would try to insult anybody with how bad the insults pile up on him over here.

…We’re actually quite easy going and like family there… Anyway Acid is a cool guy,

I completely believe this. dude didn’t even get too mad when I was fuckin’ with him about his reaction to my reaction.

Regarding the interesting direction of the new material…

…I’m not buying it. I mean, come on, four albums of speed metal garbage, and he’s suddenly going to pull a 180 and release something innovative? Or even palatable? I don’t believe he’s capable of it. I’ll be the first to jump for joy if he pulls it off, but I have absolutely no faith in the man whatsoever. Everything that comes out of his mouth regarding new material is a lie. Everything that comes out of his mouth regarding the direction he’s going to take live is a lie.

The man has been playing his fans for fools since Paul left. Look, I love(d) Ministry. Saw em back in the day, own a dozen bootlegs, listen to the good stuff on a weekly basis. I can’t remember a living situation in the past 20 years that HASN’T involved a poster of Al or Al & Paul up somewhere nearby. But it’s time to face facts. Dude was lip-synching on the last tour. Enough is enough.

Yeah… well… yeah…

Even if the music does go in another direction, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be any good. It might be lazy, formulaic electronic-y industrial-y stuff (recent KMFDM I’m looking at you!).

For me it’s about the quality of the music, how interesting it is, rather than the genre… I like metal, but boring, lazy, paint-by-numbers metal with terrible lyrics I can live without.

And yeah, lip-synching on the last tour (and how many other ones?) is just too lame for words. I remember an interview with Ministry back in the early 90’s where Al was slamming bands who play with a backing tape… he said something along the lines of “sure, they can climb up on top of the PA speakers and dance around like an idiot, because the tape is running and it doesn’t matter”… now he does it. …awesome!

as for backing tapes thing… 1, he is getting old. 2, constant drinking and smoking doesn’t help the voice. 3, some of the stuff in the songs done in studio (especially older songs) is now becoming too high and/or hard for his voice - think “Unsung” live (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ay8i4xmgDdE), even in 2003 that song didn’t have those tense vocals as in the album version. not a great example, but you get the point.

not defending the backing tapes, but yeah… as time goes on, he will put more and more stuff on the backing tapes i guess to lip-sync to, not just choruses or separate parts… i saw zz top couple years back, some songs were like lipsynced almost entirely (“legs”, “party on the patio”, the stuff that billy or dusty just cant sing anymore physically).
