Ministry: From Beer To Eternity. New album

if anyone feels like uploading side trax on mediafire or something and PMing me that would be awesome. i just realized i’ve never had it and can’t find it still up anywhere. trying not to do the torrent thing since the internet companies are cracking down on that. i physically own most of the discography if it means anything.

check your PM, although i’m fucking useless with computers, so it might not work[:(]

I think the Cleopatra shit was pretty much just Al, Mike, and a drum programmer/engineer.

. . . And a 5 year old with MacPaint cranking out some epic cover art.

Even Mikey cannot save the flaming cluster fuck that is Jourgensen

My impression of Scaccia is that he was extremely proficient on his instrument but not particularly innovative or creative.

So basically he was a perfect tool for the band, and did whatever was called for at the time.

He can’t be blamed either way. He just came and did what the music style called for.

But he certainly wasn’t like anyone in the “Book Club” bringing fresh creative new ideas to the table…

He was more “low brow”, less pretentious, and sort of a perfect companion/side kick to Al’s party boy sensibilities. That’s my impression at least.

Scaccia did come up with some good shit, but he had nothing to do with the masterpiece that is DSOTS. A lot of that was Louis Svitek. He’s credited on a good chunk of that album and I think he should get just as much praise as Mikey.

Completely disagree. The sound completely changed when he came along.

I completely disagree. What about Psalm 69? He’s all over that one. You can tell he influenced that album a great deal. He was far more.capable of a guitarist in.other genres. He just did what he had to without straying far from the rest.

I think we need a ruling on this… Gunnar?

Anyone who doesn’t think there was anything innovative or creative about what Scaccia brought to the band or that his presence didn’t influence the direction of the band is an idiot.

I can expand later when I got time but I think most people can see the obvious.

The great schism nowadays amongst many Ministry fans is those that love metal and those that hate metal. Most of the metal haters are not going to be able to have a very objective evaluation of Mikey’s creative input, strengths and talents in the band, and many other aspects because it’s like handing a book of Shakespeare to someone who can’t read and saying, “Hey, is this any good?”

It’s more like handing a book of Shakespeare to fan of Jack Kerouac and asking, “Hey, is this any good?”…

But I catch your drift.

Or only science fiction or something, yeah. You get the idea. I was tired as heck when I wrote that. I started my metaphor and then just gave up, haha!

OH MY GAWD! finally, some exciting ministry news! i’m DEFINITELY going to pick this up as soon as it comes out. i’m actually too stoked for this (as i’m sure we all are)! horrible title, though. i’m hoping he focuses on his earlier career…i’ll be fucking livid if the focus is his post paul history.

how did you find it? al is so fucking terrible at promoting anything. the fb page doesn’t even mention it.

this book definitely deserves it’s own thread. i would make a thread, but you found out the news, so the honor is yours :D.

Didn’t Gerda say she was writing a book? I wonder why that’s not out yet.

… I suspect that Jon Wiederhorn, whomever that is, probably wrote the whole thing.

Jon Wiederhorn is a senior writer at Revolver and contributes to SPIN and Guitar World. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.

fix was interesting movie

this however (considering al’s output for last 8-9 years) will probably be mediocre at best

Wow, i can’t believe someone earlier could say mikey brought nothing innovative to the band. he’s pretty much responsible for the ‘ministry sound’ from 92-forward(it’s rumored he played on 'the mind…uncredited) and that includes lard (which does’nt get enough credit imo) hell, though it’s broken up, he’s been in the band longer than ‘the book club’.

BTW from the new era mikey was on houses and one song (great satan) from ‘rio’ then relapse foward

P.S. I’ve just noticed, since there are alot of DSOTS lovers here, myself included, they have played every song except kaif (and i wanna say they played that one),vex&soilence and 10/10 live i think that’s a record for ministry for one record. Also, yeah louie needs more love

Obviously Psalm and the like is heavy Scaccia through and through, but on an indirect and macro level, hearing Rigor Mortis for the first time (this was right prior to their debut album) changed Al’s direction of the band as a whole. Most people find it a bit of a mystery that Al made “Twitch” and then got super guitar-heavy with LORAH. It wasn’t out of left field if you put it in context. This ain’t just theory or posturing, either, and any of the Rigor Mortis guys or Al himself will back this up, byt the way.
