WS isn’t the best Ministry album, but it is not the worst, not by a long shot.
my speakers are on the fritz can someone describe the song so far?
It has a funky tropical tiki vibe to me. Like a loungey psychedelic surf tune. Lots of reverb. It’s hard to judge an album or even a single song just off of a few 10 second bursts, but it is DEFINITELY different than any of the prior albums and is certainly not another thrash-metal tune.
The video cracks me up. When the camera pans over to Sin he looks like he’s thinking, “Dammit, please don’t put me on this video!”

Looks like it’s working again.

Al seems exhausting to hang out with in that video
Prolapse
So I’m starting to understand the whole “hope” thing re nu-Ministry now. Those who await new Ministry albums hold out for some good songs as opposed to a good album?
I wouldn’t say I’m only holding out for a few songs. With Mikey on board I still hold out hope for the album itself. But I’ll be happy with just a few tracks.
Ah man I’m lost again! [:)]

Hope: High
Realistic Expectations: Fairly Low
Reality usually occurs somewhere in the middle.

Not really interested in their new albums, but I am interested in the fact that it will be the 30th anniversary of WITH SYMPATHY soon! One of the greatest albums that was ever recorded.

Heh don’t worry. I’m also a big fan of Filth Pig.
The reggae-ish song at the beginning of the vid is the sort of thing Al throws in at the end of a record (Khyber Pass, End of Days Pt. 2). I like it.
The other song, which we only hear about 2 seconds of, sounds like more of the same stuff we got with Relapse.
Like the rest of you, I will give this a try with Mikey involved. I also don’t mind Sin. Some of the better tracks on Last Sucker (Life is Good) were penned by Sin.
I expect the overall album to sound forced and rushed like Relapse did.
Al is a goner, that is for sure.
It would be funny if the whole album is tropical tiki surf whatever and then everyone jumps on him for that!
I also think it’s likely an album closer and the rest will be Industrial speed metal. Though still bizarre that it was the most featured song in the clip…
And yes Al seems exhausting to be around. He’s pretty much how he’s described in Connelly’s book, just older and more…Southern…
My hunch is that when he’s away from the music/public eye he is like hibernating or something. No one can keep that up for so long without sedate periods.
What’s with all the Mikey love now? Is it because he’s gone now? All these people saying they’re gonna give this last album a chance cause he’s involved but hasn’t Mikey been involved in everything since houses? but everyone wants to still bitch and moan about all those albums even though mikey was involved there. Nothing has changed musically.

i don’t think he was involved in the bush trilogy, came back for relapse. i’ve never seen him get any hate. i was bummed he wasn’t on the one tour i saw them on.
Prolapse… needs more cred. Good one, zick.
I dunno. Been listening to a lot of Lead into Gold the last few days. Maybe he could call it Lead into Liquid Gold and have the vocals consist of his best Barker impersonation. HEH HEH HEH.

Scaccia was on HOTM and RGB. I imagine his contributions to this new album will be minimal. Good point Grmpy.
Mikey wasn’t on Last Sucker or Rio Grande. He joined the tour for Rio Grande but was not on the album.
Yes, he is on Houses, heavily.
And I think he’s on all the various cover albums in one way or another (I can’t say for sure about Cover Up as I tossed it after one listen and never asked him)
He’s easily my favorite guitarist from the band. I may be bored of most of the new stuff, but I can at least expect some good riffs to come from him, which Relapse had a few good ones.
And he did Great Satan on RGB.
if anyone feels like uploading side trax on mediafire or something and PMing me that would be awesome. i just realized i’ve never had it and can’t find it still up anywhere. trying not to do the torrent thing since the internet companies are cracking down on that. i physically own most of the discography if it means anything.
no offence to him, but i was never a mikey fan. in fact, i don’t like any of the musicians associated with ministry after paul left. since then, it seems like al just surrounded himself with a bunch of sycophantic metalhead idiots.
