It took me a minute to get over the almost hair metal-esque riff, but after awhile I warmed up to it. Better than 99%ers.
Some vocalists can pull off the “death growl”, but Al’s not one of them.
I think Al sums it up when he says “We’re tired.” Permawar sounds like there was absolutely no effort put into it whatsoever.
Permawar is not completely awful. Unfortunately, due to Al’s voice being completely shot, it looks like all we get are Cookie Monster vocals. Distort them a bit and it won’t sound so bad.
I think his horrible enunciating ruins the song, not so much his “shot” voice.
Late,
grmpysmrf
Music sounds like Enter Sandman
No effort indeed.
Pretty much as shitty as I expected.
Looks like “Permawar” has been pulled from Youtube.
More like PermaBORE! Get it!?! Guys!?! You get it???
No, but it’s really fucking terrible but I ain’t even mad because I expect this sort of shit now. I loathe that double bass shit Al adds into the songs. And I don’t really understand his recent lack of vocal effects considering his voice is fucking shot.
The video for PermaWar premiered today, i think it’s pretty cool. Much better than the rest of Zach Passero’s videos for Al.

In the chant part where they’re singing “We’re Tired” I just keep singing along with it . . . “RETIRE!!! RETIRE!!!”
Slightly better than other recent videos. Just slightly.
Also, AFM Records?
In the chant part where they’re singing “We’re Tired” I just keep singing along with it . . . “RETIRE!!! RETIRE!!!”
You bastard. That’s all I hear now!

That’s what i thought it was myself, until someone here mentioned it was “We’re tired”, hahaha. I’m a deaf fucker though, very bad with lyrics sometimes.
Remember the N.W.O. video? How it was stylishly directed, projecting memorable footage spliced with footage of the band that gave it enough nuance to be distinct from many other music videos? Well…this is the exact opposite of it. Hot damn does Al’s vocal delivery sound even worse watching him sing those words…

the band shots were somehow filtered in a way that it just seemed that they were just walking through all that shit that was happening, even though most of that footage was sourced off the news or whatever (with the logos and counters or whatnot).
NWO was (is) a better song too. and it has only 1 riff XD
Compared to 99 Percenters it’s the friggin’ Mona Lisa.
On its own merit, though . . . .
Hey Zach: RETIRE!!! RETIRE!!!
I never much liked the NWO video. Mike and Paul looked silly just standing there thrashing in an alleyway or whatever.
Still, way less cheesy than this one.

That video is okay. Like someone else said, it was cool the way they edited it to make it seem as if Al and the boys are just jamming away in the middle of urban decay while the world goes straight to Hell. The whole police and military and riot scene collage format though is now far beyond cliché for music videos.
“Just One Fix” was, in my opinion, Ministry’s best video. It used some collage type imagery and had the look and dark nihilistic aesthetic of the time, but there was an actual linear story that was shown. I love that video. The part where Al rolls up his big ass American sedan and picks up the kids while looking so absolutely apathetic . . . it’s just beautiful. The epitome of badass. it was images like that which made me feel so deeply emotionally connected with the band in its prime. Now . . . oh, hey, there’s Angie and Al’s dogs holding up peace signs . . . NEXT!!!

Yeah, but Zach Passero is quite a step down from Peter Christopherson. Obviously.

Great vid…certainly didn’t hurt to have WS Burroughs in it…I remember Beavis and Butthead:“Even the old guy is cool”…yeah that video is all balls…junkie kids on the loose,Al stumbling around in a narcotic haze, shooting all the various signs with words like “control” etc on them,Bill Reiflin bashing away…and of course that final scene as Al picks up the other junkies to go on some mysterious hell ride…excellent all around…
