Ministry: From Beer To EternaTour

HAHA those last two posts had me cracking up!!!

OMG…I won!!! I really won!!!

(jumps out of seat, bursts into tears, slowly makes way to stage to make acceptance speech while “N.W.O.” plays over the house p.a…stops to hug and high-five Madonna and Bono along the way.)

Well, first of all I’d like to thank Al Jourgensen himself, without whom I’d never be standing here today. Al, if most aspects of your professional behavior weren’t totally predictable, there’s no way I could have achieved this.

Of course I also have to thank my manager, and the entire 4th grade class of Twin Oaks Elementary, whose stirring rendition of Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All” got me through the dark days. Keep reaching for the moon everybody…and if you don’t hit it [gets emotional again], then hang on to a star!!!

Wow.

That was moving. God bless you, Sir! You earned that award! Hold your head up high.

You forgot to thank God.

You should also take a page out of the Michael Stipe Book of Totally Memorable Award Acceptance Speeches and make a profound political / social statement about AIDS babies in Africa, protecting free speech in The Balkans and the rights of Muslim women to be oppressed by their husbands.

Also make sure you talk in a deep, husky voice while the rest of yr band members solemnly stand behind you expressionless behind dark sunglasses.

I would’ve taken the Fiona Apple route with an award like this.

2015 touring line up is:

Al Jourgensen
Sin Quirin
Aaron Rossi
John Bechdel
Tony Campos
Monte Pittman

In other words…

Ministry
Ministry (I’ll give sin a ministry pass)
Prong
Murder Inc.
Static-X (token heavy-set/bald/goate bass player guy)
Prong

Thanks. I was wondering who that Monte Pittman guy was.

He’s Madonna’s guitarist as well.

He’s Madonna’s guitarist as well.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Okay. That explains why my buddy was cracking “Like a Virgin” jokes on Sin’s FB update.

He played for Prong before too, on rhythm guitar and then on bass. Good player, he got Madonna playing Pantera’s A New Level on one of her tours. Check it out from the 38 second mark;

Yeah, I’ve heard good stuff about him, and we can laugh about the Madonna gig, but let’s face it. You get a paying gig with Madonna or any other bazillion-selling multi-platinum artist . . . you’re no slouch (and your pay stubs are probably going to be a little flashier than the dude playing backup for Prong as well).

I might go to Toronto.

$70.00 for the Phoenix in Toronto. Hmmmm…

Ahahahahahahaha!

Like fuck.

Seriously. Puppy / FLA / Youth Code (maybe) is only $43; Gaslight Anthem & Against Me was only $40 for the same venue.

$70 to see Al croak out a bunch of bilge from the last few albums - <<That fucking Casio drum machine!>> - along with the usual 4 pack of “How about a couple old ones?!”

God-damn it - I just turned off the Misfits to re-visit FBTE and lasted less than a minute. Night of the Living Dead back on, all is well.

They had the audacity to charge something like 50 bucks a ticket playing at Nokia in NYC. Bullshit move when you only tour for like twelve dates

cute

Our GA floor tix were about $47 total last round (Nokia LA). This time they’re twice that.

I told one of my coworkers about the show as he was kind of interested in seeing them live. He said that Pit tickets were STILL available but he passed on buying one because he “heard they don’t play the old stuff”.

He only really knows Ministry up through Psalm 69. I told him to only expect about 3-4 tracks from before 2004 and that wasn’t a selling point for him. Apparently $25 a song wasn’t the price point he was looking for.

Indeed. 70$ is crazy.

I’ll stick with SP/FLA and GWAR and other bands that fall in the 40-50$ range.

Like Gunnar said, 25$/song is not exactly what I’m looking for. I want to go because I actually kinda semi believe that this may indeed be the last hoorah.

Maybe I’ll try and win tickets or some such.
