Here We Go Again.....Another School Shooting

No. Not at all. In fact, some time later he was more or less hailed as a hero.

The country was not against it at all. And in no way whatsoever was Australia’s gun owners population anywhere near that of the US. It was only a small minority - very small - that were forced to hand guns back.

Most people here did not own guns. We’re talking less than 2 per cent.

There’s the rub. It’s a much, much higher percentile here.

Rub indeed!

I wish you were more patriotic and less vitriolic.

Are you suggesting only patriots own guns and want them unregulated?

“Oscar Wilde was a Communist faggot hippie.”

Hahahahaha!

Maybe, but that doesn’t mean he was wrong.

I love it in The Rock when Sean Connery says that to General Hummel, who pistol whips him for his insolence, prompting Big Sean to say the classic line “Thank you for making my point for me”.

“Oscar Wilde was a Communist faggot hippie.”

Who died with a gerbil up the kazoo!

I got to watch that again. It was a pretty decent flick.

Great film, really funny shit. Tarantino did some script rewrites on it too. Probably one of my favourite films ever, it always makes me laugh and is genuinely pretty thrilling when it needs to be. Plus, Mason is one of Connery’s best ever roles. Check it out again with a few beers, it’s such a fun film!

Guess you guys over there just won’t learn.

Can’t or won’t - I’m really not sure.

Anybody live in the area this happened in? Supposedly this kid was Hollywood royalty or something.

Weird.

So much for the “guns keep us safe” argument.

And my condolences go out to all of the affected families.

Isla Vista is a little community that lives in just short of Anarchy. I was there several times when I lived In Santa Barbara during my college years. Extremely Drunk and high kids openly walk the streets. It’s a truly terrifying/eye opening experience. I’ve come to understand that public sex is now the norm there as well now.

I’m actually shocked this kind of violence doesn’t happen more often there. When i was there a body was dumped on the beach. I don’t remember if they determined if the person had been killed or got drunk and walked off a cliff and died.

Yeah that kid was the son of one of the directors on the hunger games. Again, I’m shocked, Santa Barbara is extremely wealthy and often times very snobbish, I’d think the son of a rich kid would do well there. Apparently not.

What do you mean by “lives in just short of Anarchy”,grmpy?

People do what they want there with little to no consequences. The cops tend to not arrest anybody because they would quickly run out of room in the holding cells. Theft is rampant, sexual assault is around more than in normal places, as I’ve already stated public intoxication is almost mandatory. Fights generally end in cops driving combatants home rather than cited or arrested. and while it’s all against the law in normal places it’s not really against the law in Isla Vista. Like I said, Anarchy. Whatever you want to do, you can do it in I.V.

I don’t know anything about Isla Vista but it doesn’t have jack on Detoilet, err Detroit.

For once you and I are in total agreement. Detroit is Anarchy for those that are impoverished and desperate. I.V. Is Anarchy for the college elite (and their not so elite friends) looking for nothing but to not end the party.

There was any amusing article in AP about all the car jackings in the city - http://news.yahoo.com/detroit-motorists-under-siege-carjack-city-043049027--finance.html

I saw that the other day

Even the police chief admits the city is violent and out of control. He has nothing but praise for the homeowners who shoot intruders who break in to your home. Every couple weeks, so many now that it rarely even makes the news, a homeowner smokes one or more home invaders. Last week an elderly woman sent one to an early and deserved demise. Her quote was priceless when asked why she shot the guy breaking down her door at 7:00 am - “It’s not like he was coming over for tea.” As bad as Detroit is, and it is really bad, Flint may be the single most dangerous city in the United States.

As far as finding a body dumped on the beach, that happens in the hood all the time. Oddly, it’s not nearly as dangerous as when the crackademic hit in the 80’s. It was really nuts then. I used to live in south west Detroit. It was a decent neighborhood and it was “safe”. People watched out for each other regardless of ethnicity. You had too or your stuff would disappear. Now, it’s all illegals and Latin American gangs. Latin Kings, Latin Counts, Surenos, MS13 etc are really taking over the area and the violence has gone to a whole new level of bad. All the “regular” neighborhood gangs are gone. The neighborhood gangs were bad but generally didn’t mess with anybody who didn’t interfere with their dope dealing. The Latin gangs seem to just commit random violence to terrify people in the area. It’s working.

Here’s the non liberal side of me. Michigan, I think, needs to have Martial Law declared, like Cali did in the 1940’s, and send in the national guard and in some instances some military platoons and just clean that place out. Institute a curfew. if you look a certain way (zoot suits and rat-tails in the 40’s) you get your ass kicked, arrested, or killed, if you get caught after curfew you get your ass kicked, arrested, or killed. but as much as I like most of the work of the ACLU they would probably step in and keep that from happening. Even though it’s badly needed.

what was the point of quoting our entire exchange and not adding anything to it?

I don’t know what they are like in Kalifornia but they are just way beyond anything that was here before.

From what I understand the national guard in the 40’s pretty much ended street gangs for about 30 years. they didn’t reemerge until the Bloods and the Crips in the early 70’s
