Well, neither of course, but if you have to choose, one has better odds of living through a knife attack than a gun attack. Definitely have a shot at out running a knife where you have no chance of outrunning a bullet… And for peligro, yes it was the knife and the knife alone that made the end of the shining scary.

I sort of recall a vision of him with a big cooking knife too, but it’s been a while since I’ve watched it. The axe is definitely his iconic signature weapon (in the same way Jason = Machete, Leatherface = Chainsaw, and Freddy = Glove).
I’ve been meaning to re-watch it soon, I’ll report back all the weapons he employs.
EVERY fan of Kubrick’s The Shinning film has to check out the documentary film ROOM 237. Room 237 is about all the hidden meanings according to a bunch of different folk obssessed with the film etc etc…it’s great. It’s also great to realise how insane that film sent folks. Check out the site for it below…

It’s on netflix. I fell asleep on it. while some instances may be plausible it almost seems like people are stretching a bit. the shit about the nod to indians because of some baking powder on a shelf and pictures in the hall… It’s Colorado for christ’s sakes, There’s a huge native american population, there. then the impossible room is just lazy set design… you can find instances of accidental sex in every movie. I seriously doubt kubrick put a stapler at crotch level to make a dick [rolleyes] I think I fell asleep after that.

So, ok I know I’m covering old ground here but let me get this straight; the argument of the gun lobby is that it states in the constitution the rights afforded to each individual to bear arms…on the basis that the government may one day become too powerful and the citizens may need weapons to overthrow the government? So their argument is that every man, woman and child should have the right to bear arms to protect themselves should an uprising ever take place?
Is that it? That’s their argument? Or am I missing something? Cos if that’s their argument…

In a nut shell, yes, that seems to be the argument…

that’s wasn’t entirely the purpose behind the 2nd amendment. At the time there were no agencies to keep the peace or protect us, so average/random citizens were law enforcement, as well as the military. There weren’t supermarkets so you raised and/or hunted your own meat. And yes, if the government got tyrannical it was the citizens’ job to to over throw it (probably acting as the military). But you’ll notice all of those things befall agencies now and even the most “well regulated militia” stands no chance against tyrannical government at this stage in the game. The Armies aren’t going to turn against the government because the government has the capacity to keep them fed when every one else is starving. In short, guns are kept legal now to give the illusion of safety while killing us.
The most fucked up part about all of this:
One 1 ONE motherfucker in the history of flying gets onto a plane with a fucking bomb in his shoe and everyone is now forever doomed to walk barefoot through airport security… Meanwhile, scores of people die everyday from gun violence and yet that’s our right cause they keep us “safe”
Piss on the NRA and their pseudo safety mantra.
As far as shit talk from the otherside of the world… You can’t talk too much shit about our gun … situation. Australia went through the same sort of movement and paranoia when your country came for its citizens guns.

I think that’s exactly why he does get to talk shit. They went through the process and get to see how asinine our complete lack of regulation looks now.

Well, he’s through the other side. before they limited guns it was the same hysteria of “they’re coming for our guns to turn us all into slaves of the state!!! back up commies” for australia. I would expect a little sympathy and perhaps a way to deal with that type of paranoia.

it was interesting because certain things, ESPECIALLY the Native American elements and the hidden sexual part are things that make a LOT of sense, if only because they are issues close to both the book, and to a lot of Kubie’s other works. so those ones i got into. now… the moon landing stuff, i was less willing to buy that. haha. but it was an interesting documentary.
the part that weirded us both out though was that one guy who had to stop the interview for a moment to attend to his crying baby… WHY DIDNT THEY CUT THAT PART OUT?!

I do not nor would I ever live on a farm. I’d live on one for a week to win a bet or something. Aside from that, no.
No thank you.
And Grmpy the transition from automatic weapons becoming outlawed was a fairly painless one here. We don’t really live by the same God, Guns & Government principles as you guys over there. Here, we just don’t give a fuck and think that gun fanatics are petulant retards.

I was under the impression that the country was against it. So much so that it cost the politician that introduced it his elected position
