I tried a bunch of others when people kindly gave me suggestions to try and show me why Godflesh is so awesome, but I didn’t really connect with any of it.
Plus I think I was discouraged because I went on “Avalanchers” forum to share my new found love of Justin and they said unkind words about me and kicked me off the forum. I was emotionally and spiritually wounded by the experience.

Like Rats and Locust Furnace are both awesome songs. I think that whole first half of Streetcleaner (Like Rats, Christbait Rising, Pulp, Dream Long Dead, Head Dirt) fucking owns. The 2nd half of the album is hard to sit thru. The 4 trax after Locust Furnace really don’t belong on there at all. In fact those were meant to be a seperate EP but their label Earache pressured them to make a full length and those 4 trax got tacked on the cd version as a bonus. Furnace is a great ending to a near perfect album. After Streetcleaner they went downhill.

Search for any threads started by “IronsAtTheDisco”. The best one is probably the one where I introduce myself as a new listener who was interested because some guy with dreadlocks and a nose ring told me they were awesome. Akbar had sent me “Streetcleaner” and I told everyone that I’d ordered it and was going to review it.
They were all so excited and were all telling me what albums I should try and so on. I got them all built up and about ready to wet their pants and then I just crushed their little hearts by telling them how it was the worst thing I’d ever heard in my life.
Then I told them I’d give it a second chance and maybe I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind so I talked about how I made my house all black and layed on the cold cement and let the pounding power of Godflesh envelope me and course through my veins. This totally redeemed me and they all thought I was some new age Justin-possessed mystic.
Then I told them all I was just drunk that night and that the album still sucked and they all just about committed mass suicide from the grief and anguish of being victimized by some punkass bastard.
I was really there for one reason and one reason only . . . . REVENGE!!! They hurt my friend Akbar’s wee sensitive little feelings by saying bad things about his amazing movies and then banning him. Let’s just say my mission was a huge success.
Yes . . . it was THAT awesome.

I can’t say my generalizations or accusations apply to everyone on the Avalanche board. It’s been a while so I can’t remember who was who (the only names I can remember are yours and Golem).
I have a number of really good friends that I’ve made via the Piss Army (many of us continued on and started a new board even after I destroyed the last one). The Piss Army had a horrible reputation as well, but with any board I think tones are set and impressions given by the mods (as they have ultimate control over the material). And when you have anal retentive mods there is typically a higher degree of asskissing as well.
Anyway, I guess I’m just saying that while it would never keep me from talking trash about a board or group I do totally hear you and empathize with you.

Thanx qb for that. And I wasn’t hating on avalanchers as a whole. Ur one of the cool ones on there for sure. I’ve never really seen Broadrick get bashed on like Al does though. Only time I see the bashing was on Pale Sketcher for using a badly recorded vocoder and that they don’t want a new Godflesh album. That’s nowhere near Al bashing status.
