Perhaps the rule should simply be that pussies shouldn’t own guns. It would at least keep the guns out of a lot of people on this message board.
Of all things said so far, this resonates with me the most, hahah.
Anything politics on this board weirds me out a bit, not because of anyone in particular or their crazy, crazy opinions, but because it’s a weird reaffirmation of the fact that I’m more or less a Republican that just happens to vote Democrat. Or is it the other way 'round now?
I was actually on the local news a while back, maybe 2009 or so, when a reporter came on campusd and asked me if I’d be comfortable with guards carrying automatic weapons on college grounds. My response was basically “SURE! Just so long as I can level the playing field.” Probably not the smartest thing that a long-haired, scraggly-bearded, dark-glasses-wearing, menthol-smoking, skinny-hipster-white-girl-holding man should’ve said on television, but hey, what can you do. I had a few friends and professors that saw this and were PISSED. Police state this. NRA FOX news drone that. Who cares.
I think guns are more like an equalizer than anything else. Was it Sweden where everyone’s strapped and has one of the lowest violent crime rates in the world? Works for me.
My state doesn’t require a license to own a firearm, or a carry permit, either. I can and have walked into a Wal-Mart after a day at the range with a 9 on my hip and no one bats an eyelash, save maybe some kid asking me if I’m a cop, hahah. Does that make everyone in my neck of the sands complete saps for not thinking I’m going to go postal at a moment’s notice? Nah. Does that make me or anyone else in said scenario some kind of inhuman monster for not recognizing the fact that my gun can and will kill everything in it’s path if it’s not taken away and kept under lock and key? Prolly not, because my state’s pretty damned red, but bipartisan numbskullery aside, not really. Does it send a clear message to anyone who sees it that they really ought not to pull anything stupid because I’m capable and legally allowed to look out for myself and the safety of others around me? Absolutely.
Armed guards aren’t really too much of an issue for me. It gives some people peace of mind, I guess, but considering I’m not really living in Orwellian paranoia anymore, I’m generally okay with it. Just allow me my means of defending myself and we’re A-OK.
It’s not like bullets have any effect on the shapeshifting reptilians, anyway.
