Since both parties aren’t saying anything, it’s hard not to speculate. What someone previously mentioned on this thread is that Spurburn Music is Paul’s publishing company which the older releases were associated with. Therefore, it can only be about royalties payed out on either albums or specific songs. That, or maybe they didn’t feel it’s right that Spurburn was associated with the releases though this is unlikely as people have to sign off on these matters. I am not a lawyer but that is my logical theory. The text of the filing indicates contractual disagreement. My only confusion is that all these contracts must have been signed by both parties before the music is released.
I know that Chris Connelly also said on his forum that he didn’t get proper songwriting credits on the Ryko releases and therefore didn’t get any money from those. This was when it was first released. Seems very confusing and vague, all this.
hey afra, thanks for this forum to make this crap a little less confusing and vague. as someone else alluded to earlier, either here or on PA, the only ones who know what happened all those years are ultimately al and paul. NOONE else.
The PA mods, who have also posted on this thread, didn’t know of it (just as I didn’t), so they obviously didn’t delete the thread. And if they did (which I know they didn’t), they would be acting on orders…

These simple two sentences got an ENTIRE THREAD removed at the PA:
I’ve no doubt in my mind who deleted the thread (and the one two seconds after that!), and only bring this up because I wanted the three mods I like to see it, to perhaps shed a little light on my “message from the management” thread…otherwise, it’s just out there for seemingly no reason.
This whole thing is a shame, and I’m more than disappointed.
Regarding the lockdown:
I hate all this and this stuff. Why they’d have to sue for royalties I’ll never know. Al has even admitted in interviews that alot of thisolder material was written in haste and not recognized for it’s praiseworthy content. A libel suit will not change these bearings.

All that has been wrought in good faith will be lost and by chance reunited again after many misigivings. Block out the sunlight and the real picture becomes all so much clearer and yet well defined as it was.

Paul with his lanky frame does not stand any bitterness to become. It’s the morning dove that will allow for any signs of hope. I’m sure that none here need reminding of that.

well, grmpysmrf, i suppose we can continue the conversation here about what’s going on over there. i’ll write more tonight when i have time, but i’ll say this much: tut tut on whomever is causing the shit over there with the thread deletions. all of this was bad timing, but someone over there at the Ministry camp should be releasing a statement saying “we don’t wish to discuss this at this time” instead of blowing off the whole issue. who does their PR? Perhaps I will donate my “Minstry fund” to Paul Barker whether he gives away Rare Mp3’s or not. Clearly this is not an overnight thing, and I’ve never known anyone who goes to court have the ability to chose their dates - maybe it’s different in the States?. And as there are no tour dates posted as yet, it seems daft to even mention it.
when you get a trial date, it’s the court’s decision. can always be changed for a good reason.
