^ Yeah, that summed it up pretty well.
TL DR.
I donāt have the patience for your nonsense and never will.
Went to the polls this morningā¦took me 8 min to voteā¦
I waited until today to do it too. I like the tradition and feel of doing it in person. I was actually a bit apprehensive of lines and waits and such, but I just learned that the station is walking distance to my house so Iām pretty happy. Just gonna cruise over in a few.
Yeah my polling place is 3 blocks from my house so I just walked overā¦the weather is beautiful todayā¦got there at 6:55 and was out the door by 7:08ā¦totally smooth experienceā¦now hopefully we can get this fucking cum stain out of officeā¦
I voted.
I was hoping for some more excitement.
I put all my rocker gear on and dressed up kinda ridiculous (vest, scorpion belt buckle, snakeskin boots, cowboy hat, etc.) just in case there were any reporters or TV crew on site, and also because it made it more fun and festive (aināt any shows to dress up for anyway, hahaha).
There were no lines. No wait. I showed my ID and got the ballot and went to one of the booths. There were about 25 in the room and probably 5 of them were occupied.
The only thing of interest from the activity was when I noticed that KANYE WEST was listed as VICE PRESIDENT candidate, not President. Iād never heard any mention of him as VP. I meant to ask the staff about it but forgot to (they wouldnāt have been any help, but I wanted to just for my own amusement).
I thought maybe it was a printing error, but I checked my voter guides and they all say the same thing. Anyone know whatās up with Kanye listed as VICE President?
Nope, Kanye was listed as VP, on mine too.
They made you show Id? Thatās against the law.
Good job everyone that voted. Even if you voted for trump or 3rd party, Iām obviously disappointed youāre not smarter , but at least you voted, and that counts for something.
Theyāve asked for my ID since the Clinton eraā¦they donāt even ask for my voter registration card everā¦they just slide my ID through some device and give me my ballotā¦
Arenāt you in Florida? They may have ID laws there but California has no voter ID laws. As a matter of fact itās actually illegal for a poll worker to ask for one or make claims that you need one.
After doing some digging. Florida has āVoter ID request laws.ā Meaning they can ask for ID and if you cannot furnish one they will still let you vote provisionally and you have a certain amount of time to come back and prove your identity. If you come back with ID your vote is counted, if you donāt come back and prove your identity your vote is thrown out. Seems like it would be rife for abuse.
Well everything is rife for abuse in Miami hahahaā¦well that is good info to knowā¦and I had no idea that was the case in Caliā¦
I donāt know if itās a requirement.
I had it out as I figured Iād need to and it would make things move faster. They had a little scanner thing and I put the card on it and then they asked me my address and that was it.
How/whyās it against the law, though? How else would we keep people from just voting on anyone elseās name and selling votes and whatnot?
Same here.
But as noted, I donāt know if they would have asked, to be honest. I just had it available. I personally think people SHOULD have to show IDās, but I have no idea what the laws actually are. Iām sure Grumpy is better informed on this matter, but I am interested in the mechanics of it. It all seems so arbitrary and weird, to be honest.
Whatās a voter registration card? I donāt know if Iāve EVER had such a thing. Or if I did I obviously didnāt hold on to it. Is that a national thing or just some states?
LOL.
Well, I definitely could see the argument that no ID laws could be abused as well, but democracy works better when more vote not less.
The actual law is that itās illegal to say or give the impression that you need ID to voteā¦ So really asking for an ID, in my opinion falls under that category.
The address roll they use keeps multiple votes outā¦ Show up tell them your name and your address and they mark you/your residence as voted. you /your residence has a specific polling place so unless you know the address and names of people AND their polling location itās kinda be hard to steall someoneās vote
I gotta see a pic of that scorpion belt buckle,Gā¦
The problem with that is low socioecomic people may not have one or their address may not be stable so what shows up as an address on their ID does not match where they live and even though citizens would then be barred from votingā¦ which is against federal law.
Iām honestly not sure how/why these voter ID law states get away with it. To have to prove youāre a citizen goes against innocent until proven guilty. To suggest some is not a citizen the accusing party would need proof of that. Someone not having an ID is not proof of non citizenship. If youāre accusing me of something I do not have to furnish anything to prove my innocent. You need to already have proof in hand of my guilt, not a pass fail test Iām required to take.
How does someone manage to exist in this society after age 18, register to vote and NOT have an ID? Honest question. Itās just always seemed so bizarre to me. And people can call me a fascist or social Darwinist or whatever, but . . . . I canāt really lieā¦ if someone is unable to even get an ID for themselves I think we can do without their vote. I understand the āwe want everyone involvedā argument, but itās never connected with me. So much of everything that sucks is because idiots voted for it. And they usually vote for stuff that sucks because they donāt understand stuff. That said, that is largely how our two-party system continues to survive and thriveā¦ getting votes from people too dumb to understand anything theyāre voting for.
Back to the election as a wholeā¦ I think most of us are just so fucking tired of this one and glad to see it coming to an end. Whether people get the guy they want, heās gonna be our guy regardless so we may as well try to get along and get on with life. Worst case scenario . . . 4 years later we can hit the restart button again.
I did get some feedback from others regarding KANYE . . . it seems to vary from state to state and was maybe a function of him not getting all the paperwork/ qualifications submitted. Some states show him as President, others show him as VP, and there are others that he didnāt even get on the ballot for. Not that he has a chance, but I want him to be treated fairly regardless.
Yeah, this seems pretty consistent.
All the CA ballots had him as VP, apparently.
I even checked an old voter guide from a few months back that showed him as VP as well (with that āRockyā dude as the Presidential candidate).
