1st 100 pages of the connelly book (Spoilers DUH!)

[reply]
Does anyone know who Princess or Poodle is? I have a couple of ideas.

yea, i was wondering that myself…it’s not critter and howie, although could have been…lol…but that was before their time. He speaks highly of Kieth"fluffy"aurbach, so it’s not him either…I did the math and looked at the credits of land of rape and honey, and steve spaperri and julian herzfeld are listed. My guess is it’s julian or steve as they were main engineers of al’s back in the day. Probably julian as his only al credits are for rape and you goddamned. As far as princess…no clue. Chris did leave out the story of a certain engineer being chased down the street by al for erasing a vocal take.[/reply]
Poodle I thought was Durante, but he shows up later int the book. So no dice there. As for Princess, I have a strong feeling that it’s Dave Ogilve. It was mentioned that Princess was flown in from Vancouver with Ogre for the Mind tour, which I know Ogilve was involved in. Chris had no problems naming names in the book, which leaves me perplexed as to why they would be left out.

Howdy! it’s me, Chris-I think one of the things I like about what I have written is that-for example in the case of Phil “phildo” Owens- I ended up really liking the guy, and he IS avery smart guy-he dumbed himself down a lot for “show” but I did not realise this for quite some time! as far as Al goes, it seems you are focussing on the bad parts, like me or any other human, he has his good points and his bad-part of his celebrity meant that, yes, he was a pain many times, but other times he was hilarious & a good friend, but yes-maybe it’s a book about assholes written by an asshole! ha ha!!
As far as my past goes- I am not being that serious when I am dissmissive of it: I am proud to have done much of what I did-I cannot stress enough, though, I am mortally embarrassed about “pigface” that was an error of judgement…but it seems you all might be enjoying the book, I wrote it with the intention of inspiring a few laughs…

maybe it’s a book about assholes written by an asshole! ha ha!!

this should be one of little quotes on the back of the book, you know where they put the snippets of reviews…

“5 stars!” - some paper

“…Connelly amazes again…” - some other publication

“it’s a book about assholes written by an asshole! ha ha!!” - Chris Connelly

I loved it as well. You’ve got to have had some extensive notes to rely on, right? If someone asked me to do a recounting of my activities between 1987 and 1993, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t fill up a sheet of paper, much less a 200 page book.

Some great info in there. The story about disassembilng the room had me on the floor. I can see how a lot of it could come off as Al-bashing, but I didn’t take it that way. I’m sure if that were the intention, it would have been quite a bit more scathing.

And come on Chris, surely you’re proud of some of your Pigface work. Weightless is a damn fine song, and certainly better than most stuff that 90% of bands ever release.

though, I am mortally embarrassed about “pigface” that was an error of judgement…but it seems you all might be enjoying the book, I wrote it with the intention of inspiring a few laughs…

That’s a silly thing to be embarrassed by.
BTW, if you’re still checking in here, do you have any idea why the book is so horribly delayed in the states?

CHRIS CONNELYS AWESOME BUT FUCKING METALLICA!!!

Chris,
I certainly don’t think that the book was written with the intention of digging up dirt on your former band members. It does seem that as time went on, and Al’s addictions intesified, he and his entourage became more and more unbearable to work or party with. It really made me wonder how Barker put up with him as long as he did.
I especially enjoyed the postscripts in the back. It certainly seemed as if you and Al are on decent terms, and the past is in the past even if you don’t colaborate anymore.
This being said, I think we would all be on board if you ever wanted work with the Cocks again. It simply isn’t the same without you.

Glad to see you’re coming around here. When you first showed up I thought maybe you were just pitching your book but glad to see you’re back to see how we like it…I thought it was a great read (I’m reading Slash right now and it’s a difficult read at times with the way it’s written and all) I know your busy with your own site but it would be cool to read from ya a little more! Also thanks for posting on the thread I started [:)]

I think JDN was the only person that took it that way! I think the only one he comes off hating is phildo until he clarifies later in the book that he doesn’t. that jerk that raped one of the locals and 1 or 2 of the sound people…

My guess is revisions. Either way it’s stupid since it’s out there, but not here. Really wanted to avoid the import shipping price, but it’s looking like if I want that book, it’s the way to go.
