What a great read! It’s easy and reads like a long Prongs post. He uses far too many exclamation points !!! CAPITAL WORDS FOR EMPHASIS and uses many parantheses(when commas would do.) In short, I LOVE IT.
The first 100 pages are full of little nuggets like many of Al’s tantrums, Barker’s COKE USE! I always thought he was a straight edge fella’, apparently not. Complete details on the YGDSOAB Show complete with back stage happenings. The fact that he apparently hates Phildo owens for being a redneck. Details on the The Mind sessions about how he wrote the lyrics to many of the songs including burning inside and the lyric snippets to so what. Jello gave Al the “Violent Years” Video where he got all of the samples for that song. He even comfirms that So what was a rehash of Barkers old Blackout song. really it’s like listening to commentary on your favorite movie with all the useless yet fascinating trivia in the book.
Not to mention a few pics… Funny that Patti J looks an awful lot like Angie J Or at least the picture he puts in the book compared to the picture Angie uses for her avatar. ANyway, if you can fin it in the UK get it! It’s worth the extra cash you may to pay for the shipping or a bargain if you get it cheaper Like I did. listed on the book is 24.99 canada and 19.99 US I got mine for like 12 bucks after currency conversion.
Can’t say it enough “OUTSTAAAAAANDING” read

Judging by the syntax and what you said, it almost seems like it wasn’t proofread or edited for flow/grammar. Which, in some cases, isn’t a bad thing, but why it writes like how Chris types on his forum is beyond me.
Still looking fwd to reading the book. How’s the section with Ogre?

You know you’re right I meant to look for and editor of the book because sometimes the sentences don’t really flow or they’re awkward but I forgot to look. Right Now i just chalk it up to dialect and “lost in translations”
For example he writes “wont” a lot. To me is a contraction of “will not” and took a few sentence reads to figure out he was using it as “accustomed” little things like that.
Ogre has only shown up for the least 15 or so pages and he only makes mention of him as a speed freak and only there to make Al look cool. I can’t remember if Connely calls him, “Al’s new toy” or not but that is basically the meat of it so far. He says Al hangs on Ogre the way most people Hang on Al. Basically Al is using Ogre’s cooleness to make himself More cool. I got the book yesterday I’ll probably be done with it tonight if I don’t get interrupted. It’s only 200 or so pages. Probably would have been done last night with it, if I hadn’t kept getting interupted!

Where did you get it from? When I look on Amazon.ca or .com it says that it’s available for pre-order.
Help!

The fact that he apparently hates Phildo owens for being a redneck.
That’s like hating a tree for being green!

has more to do with him being a smart a cat but using his brains to make himself look even more DUMB which makes him repulsive and a true redneck…

Al should sue Chris.
( general derisive coughing )
I wouldn’t be suprised if it’s on the horizon. Al is barely shown in a favorable light. If what Connelly writes is true (Which I have no reason to think otherwise) Al is probably gonna be pretty pissed. I can’t imagine Al approving any of the “Al” parts of this book, especially with Al being completely nutzo when comes to somebody making him look bad or upstaging him. (which is how he is painted in the book) Secondly: I can’t see Barker having done anything this “bad” or “rude” (For lack of a better word) to Al and he’s being sued!
Still it’s a quick and easy read Knocked, it out in 2 days with a multitude of interuptions dinner with the psuedo inlaws and such. He talks quickly at the end about the linger ficking sessions that record is ultimately why he quit Al Jourgenson. How can he hate the title track of the Linger ficken?? That’s the funnest/funniest track on the CD
I stand by my earlier statement it’s like listening to commentary on a DVD track of a movie you love! Can’t wait for more people to get it so there will be something new to post about

I have listened to some of his interviews and I am pretty sure that he actually is dumb.
LOL [:)] He grows to “like” him but I don’t know how truthful that is.

The first 100 pages are full of little nuggets like many of Al’s tantrums,
I spoke to one of the guys who filmed the ‘Reload’ video once. He said that working under Al was like serving under Stalin.
Barker’s COKE USE! I always thought he was a straight edge fella’, apparently not.
Interesting…although I doubt that Barker could have spent all that time in Ministry’s hedonistic high point and NOT have touched the white stuff.
Complete details on the YGDSOAB Show complete with back stage happenings.
What I would give to have been a fly on the wall back then…
Details on the The Mind sessions about how he wrote the lyrics to many of the songs including burning inside and the lyric snippets to so what.
The Bush trilogy (uuuuuggggghhhh!!!) has undeniably proven to a fine point that Al has very little talent in the way of lyric writing or technical composition for that matter.
Pre Barker, the lyrics SUCK!! (YES…SUCK!!!)
Post Barker, the lyrics SUCK!! (YEP, there’s that word again…!)
He even comfirms that So what was a rehash of Barkers old Blackout song.
And how hilarious (for all the wrong reasons) was Al’s rehash of So What for Bloodlines!!!
Yes, the Emperor is indeed NAKED!

Yeah, I think I’ll cancel my order and get it the way Grmpy did. It’s pretty clear there’s no intention of ever publishing this book in the U.S.
Yep, off to England to get a copy. Sounds like goofy fun though I suspect Chris is going to come off like an ass after it’s all out. Sounds like a number of these stories were never really meant to go public.

fuck!
if the detail of the book get too deep in this thread i may start skipping over it. altho, i do like hearing little bits and pieces.
i’ve noticed he seems to have disdain for alot of the music he made, going as far to call alot of it “daft” on his myspace. does he, in the book, expand on why? just changing/evolving tastes i assume?
personally i think some of his best work is revco and TMIATTTT.
I wonder if writing tell all books about Uncle Al is all that lucrative?
I’d be interested in knowing. [;)]
[reply] Didn’t realize Al was so fawning and obsequious over Ogre. Did he say anything about homosexuality?[/quote]
I don’t think any tones of homosexuality are there. his behavior isn’t grown up enough for that. You figure sex homo or hetoro only starts to show up in the minds of of pre teens and teens and clearly Al is no where near that mind set. he’s more of 7 or 8 year old showing off his new toys (without sharing) so that the other neighborhood children are very jealouse. and Ogre (who really is basically an extra in this story) rarely has any appearances here at all except when “Al is no where to be found because he is with ogre getting high”
Wonder how this will be received by the fatkids over at the PA.
Angie, I’m sure, will instruct the flock NOT TO READ IT and many will oblige but the few that do probably won’t really care one way or another or they will make excuses for Al.

I think the “daft” comment has to be a non-chalant, light-hearted jab. I don’t see how he could not acknowledge that he was involved in some great music back then. His performances on YGDSOB, Mind, and BSQ are just too good to ignore…unless he’s so bitter, he’s in denial. Maybe I’ll get more insight after reading the book (I’m skipping over the spoiler posts in this thread).

No no he says the music is great or not great depending on which night the concert is he even says Phildo’s BS+Q is actually pretty good even though he says he doesn’t like him. The whole book isn’t AL Bashing it’s mainl;y about his adventures in the studio and on the road the al bashing comes in when there are interactions with al and it’s NOT ALL AL BASHING but if Al was acting like a jerk connelly pretty much says it and describes the jerkish behaior.

the “daft” comment must be a joke, i agree. chris himself stated on his board that making linger ficken’ good was great fun and very creative.
