i’ve noticed he seems to have disdain for alot of the music he made, going as far to call alot of it “daft” on his myspace. does he, in the book, expand on why? just changing/evolving tastes i assume?
personally i think some of his best work is revco and TMIATTTT.
He doesn’t come off that way for all of the music He definately comes off that way for PIGFACE and Al’s portion of Lingerficken. but that’s all at the end of the AL music for him anyway. he seems to rather enjoy THe mind …well half of it but he doesn’t detest the other half the way he does Gub and Linger just thinks it fall short.
I didn’'t get that he was unhappy with the music at all except for the mentioned above.

Barker’s COKE USE! I always thought he was a straight edge fella’, apparently not.
Interesting…although I doubt that Barker could have spent all that time in Ministry’s hedonistic high point and NOT have touched the white stuff.
Excellent point. mrs. smurf pointed that out too.
Complete details on the YGDSOAB Show complete with back stage happenings.
What I would give to have been a fly on the wall back then…
THis will probably be as close to that as you can get
Pre Barker, the lyrics SUCK!! (YES…SUCK!!!)
Post Barker, the lyrics SUCK!! (YEP, there’s that word again…!)
Yes, but Chris does say the lyrical content was under al’s strict scrutiny and discretion.
[reply]He even comfirms that So what was a rehash of Barkers old Blackout song.
And how hilarious (for all the wrong reasons) was Al’s rehash of So What for Bloodlines!!!
Yes, the Emperor is indeed NAKED![/reply]
Clearly Al is excellent at only accepting perfection from the people around him but not so well at demanding that from himself. As I’ve said before Don’t hate Nu-ministry and some of it is really pretty good but it is definately NOT minsitry and lacking everything Ministry in Element.

cool. it sounds great, but i think i’ll wait for domestic release atm.
i love Connelly. got to see him do a few acoustic solo gigs for blonde exodus and it was great. i think he has some of, if not THE best “industrial vox” in the business. (i’d like to point out in the neck on YGDSOB as proof of this heh) or did, i guess.

in the neck is hands down my fav cocks song. glad someone else can appreciate chris’s performance on that one.
Im reading through it. Not a bad book, as far as ‘rockstar autobiographies’ go, in fact its amusing to compare the excesses of the Ministry camp with those of Lemmy and co. (read his book, its funny as hell).
Anyway, so far the book is a great source of trivia and behind-the-scenes info about the making of all of those great late 80s Ministry/RevCo/et.al records. What he says about Al is no surprise at all to me, this is already more or less the idea I had of him from interviews, second-hand opinions and after meeting him.

got a call from chris and will give the report when i get the book. it’s so retarded , the release of this book, which he wrote on the el, in chicago.have to see it .don’t want to be disappointed, and no expectation of that here.
ever.
report later.
Nope, except to say that he hated the first album because it was rushed. and that he tried to go the furthest extreme away from REVCO because if he was gonna make the same type of music why leave the band?

I got the book today and finished the book today, and couldn’t put it down…read for hours. I grew up in Chicago, recorded at Chicago Trax, Hung out at Wax Trax, went to the shows in the heyday, so to me, this was quite exciting, as I’ve had personal interaction with most of the people in the book, knew them in some sort of a way, and went to all the clubs and venues(in chicago) that were mentioned.
Chris is very bitter and spares no one in this tell all of the eras he was involved
in. He’s mostly dead on right about things.
It was awesome hearing about how he met al, went along for the ride, and his on again off again relationship with al. the evolution(or deevolution of al). Very detailed descriptions of the partying, drugs, and songwriting process and intricate tour details and crazyness. Lots of info about al’s relationships with various other peeps(ogre, wife, bandmembers, etc).
On an unexpected note, the martin bashing was comedic and unexpected,
I thought Chris and him were still tight but there was no shortage of
Martin and Pigface jabs. Chris is matter of fact in remembering the musical highlights and not sugar coating or spinning(like martin) the low points(first pigface cd, his first solocd, certain ministry and cocks tracks).

Really? Bitter? I didn’t read it as bitter at all. I mean some parts came off bitter(But it was bitter truth), but when you write bitter it makes it sound like he wrote this book to get back at people and I didn’t read it like that at all.

I really don’t think that was the point of this…I don’t think that he is bitter I think if anything he would like to straighten the record for all of those that try to romaticize that time period or people involved…Didn’t come off as jabs at all to me…Just kind of a “here’s how it happened…this is what I thought of that”

I agree with that. On many occasions he says a lot of good things about Al. On others, he mentions his faults. Fair enough, although overall it seems like he is trying to be truthful.
I am about 3/4 of the way through, and I have to agree that it is a fantastic read. I wouldn’t consider Chris to be bitter, but I would say that he looks down at everyone.
It is written as if he always thought the entire experience was juvenille. I remember reading in AP years ago that “Chris never met a drug that he didn’t like”, but in the book, he acts as if everyone else around him were the addicts, and he was simply along for the ride. He throws everyone under the bus on this one. He won’t be having drinks with Al, Phildo, Terry Bones, Joe Kelly or Martin any time soon.
Does anyone know who Princess or Poodle is? I have a couple of ideas.
Sorry I didn’t catalogue the cruelness and niceties within the book… But you are correct it’s nothing as horrible as anything you have written to/about members… so you might be disappointed… But you may as well get it. I’m sure you’ll be able to read between lines to get really nasty tidbits the rest of us missed.

yea, i was wondering that myself…it’s not critter and howie, although could have been…lol…but that was before their time. He speaks highly of Kieth"fluffy"aurbach, so it’s not him either…I did the math and looked at the credits of land of rape and honey, and steve spaperri and julian herzfeld are listed. My guess is it’s julian or steve as they were main engineers of al’s back in the day. Probably julian as his only al credits are for rape and you goddamned. As far as princess…no clue. Chris did leave out the story of a certain engineer being chased down the street by al for erasing a vocal take.
