animositisomina had nothing new, it used all their ideas from previous albums in a blender. to me it’s their final good album, and a ‘farewell’ one. after that it got even worse.
The rest have high points but have to be skipped through, apart from Sphinctour, but it’s a cop out including live albums.
I actually just recently got into Animositisomina. It might go up after a few more listens.
1). Filthpig
2). In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up
3). The Mind Is a Terrible Thing To Taste
4). Psalm 69
5). Rio Grande Blood
6). Twitch
7). Land of Rape and Honey
8). Sphinctour
9). Dark Side of the Spoon
10). Houses of the Mole
wow… i never really realised that they/he’d made so many great albums. at least 8 of those are classics imho. i still rate the other albums, although my least favourite album is probably animositisomina. that production just ruins it for me.
Twitch better than Rape And Honey ???
Rio… better than Rape And Honey ???
HOUSES OF THE MOLE!!! better than…oh dear.
You are a strange person and perhaps you like meditation and Eastern philosophies…feng shui and tantric sex?? Boy how are you with Gandhi? Down? I can picture you as a small impish fellow with wide staring eyes and a mane of curlish brown hair. Girls like you but don’t know how to approach you as you are shy and mysterious. Perhaps you secretly grin to yourself, exposing dimples and a cream coloured complexion. This is ok. Daring perhaps, but not altogether unhurried. Do you wear knitted sweaters and refuse to eat pork for “moral purposes”. Are you an activist? Do you tear up easily when you think of animal cruelty. Maybe, maybe not. Who can tell tell?
But I do believe that at some stage of yr young life you had read Moby Dick at least once. You admire Hemmingway and hope one day to be mentioned in the same breath as the great man. It is good to have those sorts of dreams, young fellow.
You know, it’s posts like these that really make me hate you Peligro. Actually some of your statements are reasonably close, while some are rather far offbase. I’m not going to dignify your caustic sarcasm with any retorts other than this:
Each to their own.
I like the albums in that order because I’m not a real “industrial” person as I much as I might like to think that or as much as some people think I am. I’m a freakin’ metalhead. Have been for as long as I can remember and that is that. You like 5ive and Fennesz or whatever it is that you listen to and that’s that. Don’t push your views on people just because they aren’t agreeable with them. I’ve NEVER liked LORAH very much. It’s breakthrough for it’s time; it’s got moments that are really good; but the fact remains that I didn’t completely fall in love with Ministry till TMIATTT, and mainly because there were a lot more guitars involved. The albums I like by Ministry are all much more metal/guitar driven albums, with the exception of Twitch, which is just a masterpiece or electronica. If you don’t like the fact that I’m allowed to have my own opinions, thoughts and feelings on artists and their albums then you need to go on with yourself.
Peace!
Krowe
To this day, “Mind” is still my all time favorite CD. If someone asks me for a Ministry recommendation, this is the CD I point them to. I ranked the live CDs slightly higher, since they cover a good 6-10 year span of music. 8 and 9 should be higher, since it’s my gym music, but the blabbering about Bush loses points with me. From what I heard of RGB so far (3 songs), there’s a reason it’s at #10

It’s not bad. I actually really like a lot of the remixes and the arrangements done on it versus some of the previous remixes that we’ve been hearing for years and years.
- Mind

the only reason i include Feel Like Showing Up is that it sounds so much different from the studio stuff and I thinks its so good, its essential.
I didn’t include Rantology because it’s a compilation. It would have been the lowest, though.
One album only:
1.) Number of The Beast
(That was before A.Jourgensen joined)
1.) TWITCH
2.) THE MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO TASTE
3.) LORAH
4.) FILTH PIG
5.) DARK SIDE OF THE SPOON
6.) ANIMOSOMATINA
7.) PSALM69
8.) WITH SYMPATHY (I actually like it but I have a hard time listening to it knowing that Al hates it)
ç.) THE BUSH BASHING ERA
Honestly now, I think Twitch could’ve been a little better if all the songs stayed in the “WE BELIEVE” vein. Al could’ve added “THRILL KILL KULT”, for example.
As for The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste, I wish Al had sung on ALL of the tracks.
Can someone explain to me why Al doesn’t get along with Trent Reznor anymore? Thanks!
Cuz Al thinks he is such a fucking hardcore biker metalhead thug that he can’t possibly be friends with someone as pussy as Trent Reznor.
The fact remains that Al’s music is NOT extreme or hardcore by any means he simply took Industrial ideas that WERE extreme and added the melodic metal element to make it more accessible and (if anything) less extreme.
At least Reznor isn’t afraid to go all the way and include piano and soft vocals etc. in his combination of industrial sounds and rock melody. At least he knows he is a pussy and doesn’t try to hide it with 20 thrash records about how George W. Bush is the antichrist.
Not that NIN is better than Ministry…God no…but at least Reznor knows who he is as a musician and doesn’t burn bridges and piss on people like Al does because he thinks he’s some extreme biker faggot giving handjobs in alleyways for heroine.
