Your First Concert?

I’ve got a shitload of ticket stubs from concerts in the 80’s with admission prices of $7.50,$9…shit like that…blows my mind…and makes me feel very old…

My parents love music and to dance. We saw much live music as kids.

Shows I went to without parents:
1987 Hooters/Bryan Adams @ St. Paul Civic Center
1990 Kiss/Slaughter/Faster Pussycat @ DECC
1991 Warrant/Trixter/Firehouse @ DECC

I was nearly crushed to death seeing Kiss. That experience ended the enjoyment of being up front early on in my life.

The main thing I think we can extrapolate from this thread is that Less Than Jake should be called Not Even Jake

I am more than happy to stand a few rows back on either side as long as I can inhale after I exhale; I had been crushed to the point where I could not inhale and was not even close to a rail to be pulled out. Dead girl standing. My hair was also pinned between myself and the person behind me, pulling my head backwards. Talk about a neck ache! It felt like my head was going to fall off.

The second time I saw Ministry, one of my longhair buddies was there and he insisted on head banging in such a way that no matter where I stood, the tips would whip around into my corneas every five seconds. Not life threatening or anything, but it was just the worst.

Only 17, heading down from Belfast to a field in Co. Meath. Brilliant times. Everyone played a blinder set.

Saw the RHCP a year later in Dublin and they were appalling.

Over Kill / Dark Angel / Wolfsbane

1989 - Cleveland, OH - Peabody’s Down Under

I was 13 and got my ass kicked in the pit.

Over Kill / Dark Angel

Good stuff. Dark Angel is a criminally underated monster of the thrash era. Excellent band.

Wolfsbane

I might be getting confused, but isn’t that the band that Blaze Bayley (unloved placeholder vocalist for Iron Maiden, circa 1994-1999) was in?

Yeah, and this was a few years before that too. . .I remember thinking what a Maiden rip off they sounded like. They got heckled like no band I’ve seen since.

I was gonna say that I blow all of you outta the water, because I saw ZZ Top when I was five, but THIS:

Green Day and Blink 182 in Madison Square Garden.
I sucked on a little Asian girl’s tits.
The rest is history.

… Kinda has me beat, hahah.

Aerosmith with the babys or babies opening.
Market Square Arena
1978.

1983 Def Leppard; with Rock Godess as opening act…

I see that DM just released a remastered 4K HD version of the ‘101’ film. Perhaps you can see yourself more clearly now.
