no i just went with 2 of my buddies who were of the same age. kids in mtl grow up really fast, i guess. we were hanging out downtown and smoking pot at 11 lol.
Damn! Hard core!
i love/miss mtl so much.
have you ever been?
I have but it was a VERY brief visit. About 4 years ago, there was a company there that wanted to hire me, so they flew me out. But I had less than 24 hours there.
I loved the poutine, fumie (smoked meat sandwiches), bacon, and pretty much everything there. I wish I had more time to explore. It was early February when I was there so it was a bit cold as well, but I thought it looked pretty with everything covered white (snow is a bit of a novelty to us Southern Californians).
Iām not sure, I think my first show was the tour opener for Skiiny Puppy on the Too Dark Park tour in 1990 Minneapolis. Great show on Halloween eve, blew my little 15 year old brain.

haha winter definitely has itās moments, but it gets annoying pretty quickly. i like it though. best fucking sleeping. too bad you didnāt get to stay longer! did you visit old montreal? if you ever come by again, let us prongers know! i know thereās at least one other person (emseaeye) here from mtl.
Either NIN or Leftover Crack (does an LOC show count as a āconcertā?).
[reply]Green Day and Blink 182 in Madison Square Garden.
I sucked on a little Asian girlās tits.
The rest is history.
You totally saw those shit bands live but you most certainly did not have any physical contact with any female. Take your shame like a man, damn it.[/reply]
lol, what makes you say that? youād definitely have more chances to score at a blink 182/green day concert than you would at NIN/left over crack lolz. well, maybe not NIN. definitely ministry, though lol. and most of these crappy metal bands ;).
You have clearly never been to a Leftover Crack show. Bitches be crazy. Ever had a blow job by a 20 something with no teeth? Never been to an LOC show.
No, but really everyone was cool and the girls had a few teeth.
my first show was ska concert in 2000. i was 12-13 at the time. less than jake, suicide machines, subb etc. twas a really amazing time! the comradery after the show was the best part. the show was on an island (parc jean drapeau) and the only way to get off the island is by metro. the whole station (and the island for that matter) was full of drunk punks singing songs together. that really stuck with me.
Dudeā¦ you going to the festival in June in Montebello?
Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Social D, Deftones, Rancid, Anthrax, Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, Transplants, Members of Black Flag playing Black Flag, Bosstones, Bad Brains, Sick Of It All, Biohazard, Cro-Mags, Discharge, Mad Caddies, Madball, Subhumans, 7 Seconds, Agnostic Front, Lamb of God
Seriously one of the best festival lineups I have seen. Kicks Heavy MTLās ass this year. Only good thing about Heavy MTL is Danzig playing with Doyle.
U2 with BB King - The Joshua Tree 2nd leg, December 19, 1987 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe. Tickets were $5, U2 wanted the stadium full for filming what would be the color portion of 1989ās Rattle and Hum. I was a huge U2 fan in the '80s, and being part of 60K+ fans in a huge venue was quite an experience (saw Pink Floyd on The Division Bell Tour in '94 there). U2 gets a lot of hate now, and I do get it (their recent music is really hard to enjoyā¦I really liked the early, closer-to-post-punk sound).
My second concert was also filmed for a movie, Depeche Mode on June 15 '88, for the film ā101ā (I am in the movie, but the quality is so grainy, you can barely see me). That was also a massive production in a large venue, so I was jaded early on.
My third and fourth concerts were more āintimateā and much smaller - Ministry in November '88 for LORAH, and Laibach in early '89 for Let It Be/Sympathy For The Devil. Both were amazing to witness at the tender age of 18. Saw a shitload of concerts from that point onā¦

Did the crowd go ape shit for the Spin Doctors? They were, like, as big as Friends for five of the weeks I worked at a record store (then we saw all the copies we sold X2 sold back to the store).

no, heās telling the truth. the complete truth. meaning she was really little, probably 5 years old. Itās void, I believe it.

First real concert I went to (real, meaning the shit I wanted to see not the shit my parents dragged me to for some ācultureā) was the circle jerks in summer of '93 at the El Tejon (an old Porno theater) in Bakersfield. It was AWESOME. got the band to sin my VI cd. the drummer came out after the show and talked to everyone. there was maybe 150 people there. But samiam, clutch, and one other Punk band whose name I should know but I canāt remember right now, opened the show.
I saw the Ramones at the same theater a couple years later on their Adios Amigos tour. They were stale. but the crowd was awesome. I crowd surfed for the first time at that show.

I was at that show!
My buddyās parents stayed at a Holiday Inn by the venue and got us a room too so we wouldnāt be driving around. After the show we ran around the hotel like degenerate animals, stealing all the ashtrays and flinging them from the fire escape down to the cars and street below.
Also, it was awesome because Universal Studios at the time was doing the Miami Vice stunt show, so while we were uber stoned outside the venue on the patio we could trip out on the fireworks and pyro show.
I donāt remember anything particularly impressive about Helmet, but Ministry was awesome.
Haha I remember that Miami Vice stunt show, good times. I canāt recall what it was about Helmet but all the bands sounded good that night. Helmet looked so dorky (dressed like Jules and Vincent in that scene from Pulp Fiction, āWhat do they look like Jimmy?ā) but the sound that came out was sick and they had some nice visuals.
Maybe stole the show is a bit strong, they gave Ministry a run for their money is more like it.
