Putting things in context, you are defending the US government providing funding to a fierce military, economic and political competitor so that competitor can experiment on pathogens that might be potentially dangerous and thus create pathogens that are dangerous out of them. Doing so in order to come up with a cure/treatment/vaccine for a disease that did not exist and may never exist without human intervention. That’s not exactly the hallmark of genius.
