Wild and crazy couple of weeks! not really, just exhausting!

So,
I’ve got 19 new threads and 340 new posts sheesh I got some catching up to do!
sorry for the absence I know some (myself included) get worried when a regular is no longer regular.

first off I tried my hand at tiling did a fantastic job! took about 5 days from start to finish.
We were sick of our male cat missing the box so we already had the sliding doors taken off one of our bedroom closets so we just tiled the inside of the closest and put tile up on the wall (only one tiles worth on the wall basically a foot up)so that way when he misses it will not soak into any carpet or dry wall and smell up the joint, we can just wipe it up. Looks pretty nice!

The week after that (last week) I had to pull up 1800 Sq. ft of carpet and padding as well as move all of the furniture into a specific room (thank you tetris for help in this dept.!) for the upstairs and downstairs as well as repaint all the base boards, because we were getting new carpet.

The wife was in Spokane Washington all last week visiting family so I was on my own. My parents helped a little. The carpet dude said he’d give us a break on the price if we cut some of the labor up for his crew and pulled the carpet ourselves. He said we weren’t allowed to throw it on the lawn either! so I cut the carpet into 18 inch strips and rolled it up like a sleeping bag and then duct taped it up so it looked like a pony keg! Then shredded the pad into smallerr chunks and stuffed it into trash bags. Carpet guys were thrilled! all they had to do was come in and lay pad and carpet. Really nice carpet it’scalled inkwell which is a darkish blue gray; although more blue than gray. (we have powder blue walls so it works beautifully!) It’s Mohawk brand and we got a 8 pound pet pad, like walking on a freakin cloud!

Meanwhile, while the carpet guys are laying carpet I’m trying to round up all of the cats and put them in a closed room. (We have 5 of them Well now 4) So one stays in of our bathrooms full time because she has a problem with peeing on my stuff (It’s my wifes cat and she refused to put her down so the cat is confined to the bathroom… finally got her to take her to the vet and the vet confirmed that the cat is “vendetta peeing” so instead of putting her down she is stuck in one of our bathrooms)) SO I gather up our big black cat and throw her in the bathroom with the peeing cat, no problem. I gather up our only male cat and throw him in the same bathroom… now we have a problem. Immediately big black starts hissing and growling at the male cat. I figure I’ll let em stay in there and work it out but it gets louder and more obnoxious so I open the door and the male cat runs out and big black stays so I go there and Big black starts hissing and growling at me so I grab a kitty carrier and try to put big black into it and that little bastard hisses and growl at me and bites the crap outta my thumb in two spots.

So i basically backed big black into a the corner so the only way for her to go was in the cage so she did and promptly took that little bastard down to the vet and had her euthanized. (well not promptly two days later- wanted to make sure I wasn’t being rash- but she stayed in the carrier pretty much the whole time) Kinda felt bad about doing it, but but big black was very Alpha Cat, got along with none of the other cats and was very ignored by my wife and me because of her hissing at the other cats so her biting me was the last straw.

SO were down to 3 cats that roam the house and one locked up I can handle that. So that has been my 2 weeks I just got off of spring break and now I need a break from my spring break.

I got two PM’s and a ton of threads to look at. I’m Not looking forward to the PM’s cause it’s probably more of the same empty, no education replies about how great a certain political movement is… but maybe not…

BTW CHEMICALMEAT got the 2 dvd’s you sent the other day. I haven’t had time to watch them yet but thank you much. I will PM you after I get a view of them.

I don’t own fire arms… BUT I did contemplate baseball batting the cat to death at the sincere urging of the carpet guys… one of which owned a Jesus mobile “Got christ” Stickers and what not… I thought it strange that he was urging violence since he was a disciple of Christ! … Kinda why I gave it two days just to make sure I wasn’t caught up in the moment.

How many here have/use guns? Or even what are people’s views on gun ownership, etc?

I don’t own a gun but can use a shotgun whenever I want and am heir apparent for it.

THe gun issue. I don’t own guns but if you want to own guns I have no problem with that!. Armor piercing bullets and military grade weapons I think the public has no business owning but other than that stock pile all you want!

Glad you are among the living sir. Sorry I had not sent those DVDs out sooner, but I just completely forgot to. Hope you enjoy them.

As for the gun issue I share pretty much the same view as grmpy. I do not own any myself with kids in the house, but I have no problem with others owning them.

yes i got it the day it came out and got the Tshirt with it from best buy.

[:(] it’s horrible. it’s a pop album. There is no Slash anywhere in it. There are no juicy riffs, no killer solos, and what little guitar work there is, it’s all buried under guest starring vocalists and drum tracks turned way up.

what a let down! truly. sad day really![:(]

I would’ve liked another snake pit album even with one of the crappy vocalists that sang on either of the Snake pit albums… at least Slash’s guitar work more than made up for the crappy signing. But then again the first snakepit album was left over GNR material that Slash brought to Axl after the illusions albums and Axl Rejected.

I only listened to about 4 songs so far cause I was royally pissed maybe the rest of the album makes up for it but I doubt it. I should put it in my car and listen to the rest of it on my way to work … I just took it out of the car and put it on the dining room table and forgot about it what with all of the work I was doing last week. I’m sure I’ll get to the rest of it this week now that you’ve reminded me.

SSlash seems more of a chameleon type guitarist… his style depends on who he works with, soi the songs are only going to be as good as the collaborators… and when you’re rocking out with the tool from wolfmother and fergie, well i’m not looking forward to listening to this cd (and I’M the fool because I will be at some point)

He supposedly wrote it all, lyrics and all. but you are right he does kinda blend with who he is playing with. so I guess he did alright writing music for said vocalists. Ozzy’s track sounds like a generic Ozzy track and so on and so forth with the vocalists I’ve heard.

Slash seems totally boring to me. I think he really shined in Guns 'n Roses and was innovative for that style of music but he seems kind of wrapped up in the “institution of rock 'n roll” to really do anything new with it. Like once “rock 'n roll” becomes this sacred thing to which these old guys just pay homage, they stop being able to do something unique and fresh with it.

Has anyone heard Ozzy’s cover of King Crimson “21st Century Schizoid Man”? That’s the kind of thing I’m talking about. They took out what made it great and just relied on the killer chorus riff to support their watered-down metal version…

Anywho…I think what you did with the cat was kind of cruel, no? You should have at least put it in a shelter for someone else to adopt or something. Cats have personalities and if it wasn’t happy you could have tried to do something else to change that. That really made me sad actually that you just killed an animal because it was inconveniencing you at the time. I mean, how did it behave normally, when it wasn’t locked in a room with the other cats? Was it really a problem?

More importantly how will Mrs. Smrf feel that you just up and killed one of her animals?

We actually tried to find her a home for several years and we both had classrooms and none of the students ever wanted a 10 year old black cat.
The Harley story (the big black cat) first off it was “my” cat and Mrs.Smrf doesn’t want to talk about it but she didn’t really like the cat either cause it was so mean… but the whole story…
Ahem…
My buddy in Las Vegas used to room with one of his co workers and sorta his girlfriend. The girlfriend didn’t actually live there (she lived with her parents) or pay rent but she was always there and slept over and shit… blah blah…
My friend’s girl started to nag him about moving out with her and getting their own place instead of playing house with a roommate. My buddy (fuck it, his name is Steve) Steve wouldn’t budge. he had a pretty nice set up with his roomy so the girlfriend started to create problems with the roomy (She’s quite controlling, even now that they are married)

so cut to the chase Steve buckles and moves out with his Girlfriend they get an ultraexpensive apartment over by black mountain (i think it was called) over off of Cheyene in west Vegas. So after getting all the details worked out his girly was going to get job and help pay for this apt. so everything is worked out Steve sign the lease and she is there 3 days before she announces she is pregnant and moving back home. So she effectively seperated my friend from his Vegas friends AND not only left him but left him with an Apt he can’t afford.

So my lonely buddy who hates cats buys a cat to keep him company. He loves this cat “it’s the best cat ever, this cat keeps my spirits up” so cut to roughly 3 weeks later my buddy’s girl comes back on the condition that he marry her, no problem. Except she won’t let him marry her unless he converts to Mormonism side tangent but even still (this is the 3rd Mormon chick I’ve seen run this scam on 3 different of my friends!)

SO he converts and she moves back in but she has a cat that she has had for 15 years and this new cat doesn’t get along with her cat so immediately My buddies hatred of cats kicks back in and he wants to get rid of it.

He knows I’m a cat guy so he threatens multiple times that he will toss the cat out the window on the freeway on the way to work. SO I buckle and take the cat.

THe cat at first does not get along with my cat but roughly 3 mos in the tolerate each other. they get along. No problem.

Cut to a year or so later my wife and I move in together. she has two cats Harley does NOT get along with either of her cats. that was 5 years ago Harley NEVER got along with those two cats. roughly six months in my wife has to put down her 18 year old cat… so we are down to 3 cats

well my wife starts to get sad and wants a new cat I buckle and we go to the pet store and like an idiot I go in with her and fall in love with a little kitty and of course it’s not the same kitty she likes so we end up with 2 new kitties. Harley now hates 3 cats and hisses and is anti social to all of them and is pissing my wife and I off every time she hisses at the cats. so for two years we were trying to get a home for Harley but no takers.

Harley never got over it and well cut to the other day that was just the end of it. Hissing at me and finally biting me. all of the other cats get along fine and this cat wasn’t having it. so no homes for her to go to I felt I had no other choice.

I even gave Harley a final chance when she was whining in the kitty carrier all sad and pathetic and shit so I brought one of the other cats in and put him up to the cage and the sad and pathetic Harley went away in an instant and the “fuck you I’m gonna hiss and spit harley came back.” we just couldn’t have that in the house anymore.

I feel really bad about it as I’m a cat person and I thought it was gonna be easy cause of the problems with the cat but I got pretty close to shedding a tear as I was handing her over to the vet. I just tried not to think about it and I walked out.

I’m still thinking about it and whether it was the right thing to do. I know it was but just like a failed relationship, while you’re in it you hate it cause it sucks but as soon as it’s over all you can do is think about the good times… only there were no good times with this cat All I can think is “you killed something bigger than a bug because you were inconvenienced…” I know it was more than that but still it’s hard to shake that thought. I find it best to not think about it and try to pet and hug my still living cats that all get along.

so that’s the whole Harley story. I can kinda take solace in the fact that my friend is the kinda jerk that probably would’ve thrown the cat out while driving on the freeway so i gave it like a 7 year stay of execution loved her as much as you could love an angry cat and then put her down humanely so she didn’t suffer.

probably not a good enough reason for having a cat put down but I felt like I had no other choice. I even sat on the decision for a couple of days so I don’t think it was hasty… just a hard difficult situation. I probably wouldn’t have made the same decision if given the opportunity again but that’s probably for selfish reason cause I don’t really like feeling like this and makes me not look forward to when I have to put down my original cat she is also 10 and maybe has 5 or so years left… [:(]

I should be happy that, as you have mentioned cats have personalities and, the attitudes of the other 3 cats, the two new kitties and my original cat are really bouncy and “happy” since Harley left. I try to focus on that but it’s hard.

Your original post made it sound MUCH more brutal and random. I think if I were in your place I’d have just let him out on the street. But that may have been worse for him in the long run, and definitely not responsible.

As for your friend, what a fucking tool. I wouldn’t talk to him anymore on the account of the cunt. I can’t tolerate the presence of such a woman. Just reading it makes me furious. When a friend is whipped and I don’t like the girl I usually make it really clear and just openly call her out.
