Wild and crazy couple of weeks! not really, just exhausting!

[reply]Grmp, don’t sweat it, you did the right thing. Not all cats make good pets.

No, he didn’t.
And if I’d been the vet I’d have told him to get lost.[/reply]

If you were the vet you would have put the cat down. Vets are generally not reluctant to euthanising pets as its cash in their hands. Veterinary nurses usually are more sympathetic to pets and usually only encourage euthanasia is the animal is suffering.

grmpy comes back from hiatus only to inspire animal rights and gun-control jihads.

But in all seriousness, it’s good to have ya back. Don’t envy you for carpeting and tiling, though. That’s some brutal work, right there.

Yeah I ran into that a few places when I was calling around.

Thanks Void and Mick, Yeah I was pretty brief in my original posting about the cat. Wasn’t really ready to talk about it. I had thought about tossing her outside and leaving a dish outside but she was an inside cat for 10 years and we live on a pretty busy street and I don’t think either my wife or I could take it if we saw her squished on the street.

As far as my friend… We’ve been through 20 plus years of stuff together. he knows my stance on her. she really is quite attractive but that is the ONLY thing she has going for her she is dumb as rocks and lazy as hell and now he has 3 kids with her and doesn’t want to leave his kids so he’s trapped.

He complains to me about her, I listen to him and pepper in the occasional “Told ya so”
But he was the guy that had no dates or girlfriends in high school and then once he graduated high school apparently bloomed and ever since High school never went more than 3 months without a girlfriend and is terrified to be alone so he just settled with a very pretty girl and a bad situation. So I just basically lend him an ear an advice he never takes.
We’re still good friends.

Nice!
yeah i was pretty much too exhausted to get on prongs, (or the comp for that matter I had over 300 emails waiting for me) I would usually drop down and fall asleep on the couch or fall asleep to a movie. Tiling was kinda fun! don’t want to do it for a living but not bad… kinda artsy/crafty in a way.
Yeah I noticed how the thread almost got hijacked into gun control laws right away! [:)]

Not the vets I go to.

Word up. Nothing blows off steam or beats a hangover quite like DIYing your house.

Re: Guns… I like them a lot. So far, I seem to be the only guy on the forum who has one and operates it on a regular basis. [sly]

That’s cos you’re out in the bad ass West. I’m on a Western streak at the moment; last night was No Country For Ah Hells Bells They Even Shot The Dog, next up: ‘Tombstone’

What do you think he should have done then?

I’m sorry this is not personal but these vague/mysterious one-sentence responses are really fucking annoying.

If you’re going to have a discussion, just elaborate.

I don’t like posting huge blocks of text.

There are shelters and vets that take in unwanted animals for adoption. If they’re antisocial, like grmpy’s cat, they’ll often even rehabilitate them. Hell, I’m currently dating a girl that does this for a living. If you don’t want to confront someone about it, you can put the critter in a box on the doorstep. Happens all the time and the animal gets a chance at a better life.

For a pretty steep price. We didn’t have an extra 200 bucks to put up a cat that would probably be eautnaized at the end of 30 days anyway. The three shelters here eauthanize after so long if the pet is not adopted but you gotta pay to have the shelter put them up for as long as their stay.
still a sad situation.

“Frederic fucking Chopin”

well as far as the slash, matt sorum, duff trifecterate of ex-guns, i’m most excited to know that duff is working with Jane’s Addiction on new material.

i’ve posted here in the past this link, but duff has his own column in seattle weekly which is really good and you can read all the old ones onlnes. Kirst Novestelic has one there as well. his is more polits though and duff talks music more http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/reverb/duff_mckagan/

I am seriously not a Duff McKagen fan! That guy has the most horrendous voice and his bass lines are generic single strings that follow the chords… no bass riffs no nothing. That guy’s singing voice bugs the crap out of me. So Fine off of the Illusion II album actually angers me because he is such a lousy singer! (he thinks he’s a valley girl when in fact he is from Seattle and a guy)

Now that that’s out of the way SLASH’s album Still not the best thing he’s done but not as bad as I previously mentioned. MY wifes car is in need of a new stereo!!
When I first listened to it it was in wifes car cause I was getting her oil changed and as I previously said the guitars were buried no riffage no nothing… All vox and Drums… Well that’s cause my wifes stereo is apparently broken! I brought it to work today and listened to it in my truck and it’s a completely different album. I’m listening to it now at work and it’s not bad. I think it’s a distant 3rd in his solo three albums but seriously worth the spin glad I got it now. it has some redeemable songs. Give a more detailed analysis a little later, for those that are interested.

I don’t consider that guy even a musician! Izzy Stradlin’s stuff Is SUPOIB I recommend “Ride On”!

izzy was the diamond in that camp when it came to songwriting… slash gets all the cedit for soloing over gilby’s amazing riffs. PLus he’s got scruples and pulled a john frusciante and left the band cause it was getting too big and like a corporation for him

“the diamond in that camp” is absolutely right! Although don’t rip on slash, all of those solos were Slash’s solos… but as far as song structure and chord progression yes Izzy was keystone in that band when it came to song writing. Slash gets more credit I think because he has the charisma, while Izzy was the shy stand in the corner type guy…but I think Izzy is just as good at song writing as Slash is for soloing and doesn’t get nearly the credit. Although he his HUGE in Japan.

I honestly think Axl didn’t release and album for 10 plus years but he didn’t have Izzy there to write it for him. I know they split royalties evenly on AFD but I think Izzy got the short end of that stick seeing how the majority of that album was written by him and slash!

As far as Izzy leaving, I know it was said that he didn’t like the traveling circus aspect of the band but the really driving factor for him leaving was the fact that he got anxiety from the drugs that he had taken and ended up living back at home with his dad for a while, while he was cleaning up.

When he cleaned up he went back to the band and they had not cleaned up. so he felt out of place with all of the drugs that were around and he felt like he couldn’t relate, plus the big arenas were still freaking him out, so he exited…It’s all in slash’s book. I really wish Slash would Collab more with Izzy rather than duff…I think Velvet Revolver would’ve been that much better had Izzy been there writing songs!

I absolutely adore the solo in “Here Comes the Rain” from the “Ride On” album. It almost sounds like something sublime would’ve written and it’s so calming!
The lyrics are the most simple lyrics ever “here comes the rain” X 43
Still a great song though.

solo starts at 3:00 (specifically the chops from roughly 3:05 to 3:15 sound sublimey to me)
