I had heard a rumor that based on fred’s voice and his look that he and biafra were long lost brothers or twins or somehting to that effect. one was a baby given away at birth! I don’t care, it doesn’t matter, just wondering if that was a national/worldwide legend.

I’ve actually had dinner w/ several of the people that have been mentioned here…all good choices…Thank god nobody suggested the mentors…which I would expect from this group…

The B52s were/are really nice people and a pleasure to hang out with. At the time I dined with them they had a personal chef that had toured w/ the Talking Heads so there was no going out…dinner was served and they were nice enough to invite me along…unfortuanatly it was vegan…but a nice time w/ nice people just the same…
Julian Cope…the best choice in this post. I had a great (well eventful) dinner with him and his brother Josh many years ago…I think it was probably when Fried came out and he was opening for Siouxie and the Banshees (another story but I digress.)
Anyway…
I live in/near Boston and we all went out for lobster. Julian and Josh (and Josh’s girlfriend) never had eaten lobster and we took them to a great italian seafood place. They decided to go for the grillled (rather than traditional boiled) which was ok…The waiter brought live lobsters to the table and looked at Julian and asked him “is this one OK”. Julian just kinda looked an said “sure”…then the waiter raised the cleaver over his head and split the live lobster right down the middle…
The Cope brothers went hungry and (for once) silent that night and Josh’s girlfirend and I ate a lot of grilled lobster on the record company’s tab…
But Jullian was a great sport and I wish I was still in contact with him…great guy and a witty dinner companion (at least thru the bread course!!))
