Hey everyone. I’m taking a short vacation next month. I’m heading to Chicago. I’ve never had the chance to visit it and thought who better to ask about where I should stay or things I need to check out than the prongs folks!
If any of you guys have any suggestion I’m all ears. Thanks.
I always make a point of visiting this place when I’m there. Always a good time.
Deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati’s.
Awesome! Thanks for the Delilah’s recommendation! I’ll check it out.
Neo was definitely on my to do list for sure!

I’ll check it out! I’ll probably gain some lbs. while there haha
A steady diet of pizza and beer.
Yeah, and Goose Island 312 is the my favorite Chicago beer.
Neo is sadly no more
Reckless Records the original, go there! Great place
Hotels out by the airports are generally cheaper than in the city and have free parking.
Buy a Ventra card at the airport train station and keep adding money to it.
The Red and Blue line subways run 24 hours, the other lines do not.
Giodanos layered thin crust pizza VS deep dish at Lou’s, I prefer Giordano’s .
Try a Chicago hot dog, Kuma’s burger at Kuma’s Too, a beef sandwich, etc.
We took a trip out to Madam ZuZu’s tea shop. The jasmine tea and biscotti were great.
Take a stroll down Milwaukee Ave in Wicker Park and go to Reckless or to the other two locations. Take a walk down Clark to Metro’s store and Wrigley Field. Loads of pubs and restaurants in that area.

Thanks for the awesome recommendations everyone.
I’ve definitely checked on the record stores there and I’ve given myself a generous budget to spend on records, but I’m sure I’ll go over that haha.

Metro still exists and SmartBar, in the basement, is always fun. The Late Bar on Belmont features Industrial music. Hang out in Wicker Park/Bucktown or at the Lizard Lounge on Irving. Don’t go to Navy Pier but do go to the AIC.
Stay anyplace downtown, or north of downtown and east of the Kennedy expressway (I-90) and you’ll have fun. Learn to use the Blue Line, the Red Line and the Brown Line and you shouldn’t have any problems getting around.

Awesome! Yeah I plan on staying downtown or getting a airbnb in wicker park/bucktown area. I’ll be sure and stop by late bar and check it out, and I will stop and check out metro and smartbar too! You guys are helping tremendously with my planning, thanks guys.
I havent checked this Devil in the White City tour out but I would like to. If you familiar with the H.H. Holmes story, soon to be a movie, and his booby trapped murder castle at the time of the 1893 Worlds Fair, the building is now a post office so theres probabaly not a whole lot to see and the tour is over 3 hrs.

My advice would be to stay as far away from 63rd & South Wallace, and the entire neighborhood of Englewood, as possible. It would be very high, probably first, on my ‘list of Chicago neighborhoods to avoid at all costs’. It’s no place to go sight-seeing.

Yeah, I’ve been doing a little homework and know I will not be Doing any sight seeing around there haha. Thanks for the warning, I don’t think I’d blend in very well in that neighborhood.

I’d still recommend that you stay away from that 'hood even if you did ‘blend in’. Nothing good could come of sight-seeing in Englewood. Stay out of the South and West Sides. That doesn’t mean that they’re 100% dangerous all of the time…just like the North Side isn’t 100% safe all the time… but the North Side is for the most part, very safe, as is downtown.
Try Portillo’s for a Chicago style Vienna Beef hot dog and/or an Italian Beef sandwich. They are both outstanding. Top it off with a piece of chocolate cake for dessert.
Yeah, I second that Portillo’s assertion.
Fuck Al’s Beef.
I’ve walked back and taken the train by myself between 2 and 5 am in both Chicago and NYC. I always stick to walking on the Main Street for as long as I can, and I’ve never felt unsafe.
I want to go to PetSmart and buy some kitty litter from Chris Connelly.
